I found that old post too but didn't find any product related to what I'm looking for. I don't have any background in electronic so I would be pretty lost trying to build something like that on my own. I'm pretty sure that would be a nice feature for those company who sells wifi adapter to include the driver on board but I'm afraid nobody had that done so far :-/

I'm a field IT tech and sometime I need Internet on a PC isolated from the network or if that PC has an issue with his network adapter I can use a USB wifi adapter. The only thing that bugs me a little bit is having the driver on a separate cd or USB storage. I was wondering if there is any way to have the driver all in one device like the 3G keys that has the installer on an emulated CD when you plug the device for the first time Thanks
