  1. Thanks infiltrator! I will be doing this, we currently have another company managing out firewall but i think we're gonna inplement a smoothwall and manage it ourself, looks like it has a lot of control when importing from AD! :) Thanks,
  2. Sorry to resurrect an old threat, any chance some more people could get the old torrent up or repost these with working links? the torrent is dead and mega upload has been shut down.
  3. if you dont like unity but want ubuntu the Linux mag i get made their own, (i think) or may have just been reporting it. Its basically the new ubuntu without unity, it has gnome instead. try searching Ununtu 11.10 LXF remix, i also like tails. has built in 'anomity' however, we all know no one is anonymous
  4. Ohhhh... hahah! thanks, got myself into gear and configured and old USB drive working spot on with WhistleMasters Infusion! As soon as i've got my head around the pineapple i will be contributing my knowledge to the rest :)
  5. ive tried that and just tried it again, still not installing :/ shame, its one of the main features
  6. Hi guys, unsure if anyone has had this issue too.. When i attempt to install the SSL Strip on my pineapple it refuses to. i have tried via a command line, via pineapple bar and even the OPKG module. When i install Whistle masters SSL strip, i open the tab and it states 'sslstrip not installed' then underneith it gives me the option to install to the interneal storage or usb, i click internal (i have plenty room) it says installing... then the page refreshes and it has not installed. when i tried installing via command, it looks as if it may be stuck on installing python? unsure. Has anyone had this issue? Thanks, EDIT: It is a Mark 4 pineapple, and i am running the latest version
  7. does this fake the mac address before sending deauth packets out? Good tool, however, just want to make sure that it hides the correct pineapple identity..
  8. Hi Seb, Thanks for the info! Only plan on having a couple while i still learn the basics! will attempt to install to a usb until i decide which ones i like/need Thanks
  9. thanks for the replies.... I may have to look at eset, like keyboard ninja said, half of the time, sophos misses things, cant delete things, and picks own inhouse software and scripts up at viruses, even stopped our login script... i have a personal vendetta against norton (symantic) i feel they force their products on to 'non savvy' computer users... so i will probably give them a miss! i also had the MS forefront on my mind... Thanks all!
  10. looking through the list of available infusions, there are many that i would like to install... I was just wonder, as the pineapple has a limited amount of memory, (unsure how much) how many can i install to the pineapple itself? Also, is there an easy way to uninstall these? Thanks
  11. thanks, i had a feeling it was going to be something to do with the format... i will try reformatting it in the morning! Thanks
  12. Hey just got my pineapple, been fiddling with it, at first, if i visited the Pineapple Bar and tried to install a Infusion, it gave me the options of install internally or install on USB (whether i had usb media in or not) I then upgraded to the latest firmware and if i attempt to install an infusion, it will only let me install on internal storage, even when i insert my memory stick and the USB light is light on the Mk4... anyone have any ideas regarding this?
  13. considering the amount of money already going into this build, i would look to upgrade to an i7 to ensure your a bit more 'future proof'
  14. thanks for all the feedback guys, helped myself and im guessing anyone who is reading this
  15. Hi all, Where i work, we use sophos across the group.... to be frank, i dont like sophos. many reasons why. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good business anti virus' to use across a business? I know I could google and look at each product, but i have, and it appears they all say they are the best so i thought i would ask the people that deal with this stuff on a day to day bases. Thanks,
  16. yeah, im not looking to see any passwords etc, just too many problems are happening due to work staff not concentrating, then when you quietly go into their office, you see them browsing clothes shops, amazon online etc... I dont have any issues with this until it affects the business. Thankfully i can say im not a BOFH! So i just need some evidence on paper to say, ebay has had this amount of hits, amazon had this amount of hits... Will Look into setting something like squid or the sort on a spare PC. Thanks for everyones input! dont worry, i will be speaking to the IT manager regarding company policy!
  17. I thought i would start a thread to discuss/share what techniques/software people use to protect their computers/their self in a linux environment to help myself learn as well as anyone else viewing the thread. Ideas such as port blocking, extra software firewalls installed etc... What do you recommend doing?
  18. If you were planning one game only, then you could build the computer to requirements eg, some games require more RAM, some require CPU and some require GPU power... If its your first gaming build i would reccomend to go with AMD/ATI for the simple fact of it will be much cheaper for the power it will put out. (unless you find a good nvidia intel bundle/deal) note that linus slated nvidia for lack of linux support if you aim to use linux too. My current setup is: 4GB RAM 1333mhz 3.2ghz x6 1090T AMD Black Edition clocked to 3.6ghz 2 X 5770HD 1GB ATI Crossfire 1 TB hard drive Linux/Windows Dual boot. With my specs, i can still play crysis 2 on High/Ultra with no FPS issues and GTA IV still plays smoothly on high res and very high settings. Always make youself aware of the Clock speeds! i have seen dual cores with high clock speeds destroy quad cores at performance! and lower model graphics cards out perform newer cards which were more expensive due to having better clock speeds and more video memory also cache is important. Like Radau said, Resolution plays a big part in performance, expect your frame rates to drop when increasing your resoltion. In the UK i tend to buy my products from www.eclipsecomputers.com and ebuyer.com. Ebuyer usually have some crazy deals on to clear stock. i have also heard good things about scan and overclockers. have a look. Hope i helped you feel free to ask any questions.
  19. Hi all, Wondering if anyone has came accross any ways to have a users web browsing history reported to the IT office? We've noticed a few things are not getting done properly workwise yet they have time for internet shopping while at work. So we can have facts and figures etc I would like to know if anyone has discovered a way or a has a tool to report the users history in the background... This is something I will make use of once we have impelmented smoothwall however, at this moment and time our firewall is managed offsite and due to having Server 2003 and IE 8 on the computers, we find the users still find ways to delete their browsing history due to lack of GPO. Thanks in advanced, pyth0n
  20. Sorry for resserecting an old thread, but i would like to thank you (digininja) and those who participated in the survey. Every time i have looked around for the answer given in your conclusion, i end up with 100's of different answers and everyone says everyone else is wrong. This has definatly put me in the right direction.
  21. hey, Thanks for the reply there! Ahh thats good! just when i was reading up on USPS tracking and heard it was rather poor i started to worry, was surprised at how quick the pineapple was dispatched! And also thank you very much for the Wicd advice... that would have probably left me scratching my head for a few days... haha! Thanks!
  22. Hey, im new to the forums, signed up as i just bought myself a pineapple wifi pro bundle to make life a little easier than backtrack. I am just wondering if anyone else in the UK (or outside the US) has bought one of these? I ordered it a week ago via USPS priority and its still not arrived, the shipping details say: Depart USPS Sort Facility June 27, 2012 LOS ANGELES, CA 90009 International Letter Processed through USPS Sort Facility June 27, 2012, 9:15 pm LOS ANGELES, CA 90009 Shipment Accepted June 26, 2012, 4:43 pm RICHMOND, CA 94801 Electronic Shipping Info Received June 26, 2012 I also want to ask, did you have to pay any import taxes or duties? I know im being a little bit impatient and Hak5 state 14-21 days however, the USPS site says 7-10 days. Thanks!
