How would you elevate UAC but also log in as local admin provided you knew the username and password? Thinking about utilizing this at work with some stuff that would be nice to automate when I walk up to the PC. However it would require me to log in locally to the admin account. Thanks!

Has anyone had good luck with having a USB duckie add printers, especially those that are added by ip locally and would require permissions?

There is a local tech meetup in town that I frequent but now its just comprised of mainly sales people. It has lost its "tech" feel and as soon as I sit down for lunch at one of these events i feel like I am cornered and asked tons of questions which usually lead to the person wanting to sell something. Now don't get me wrong, everyone has to put food on the table, but I cant find a good tech meetup in my area... How would you all suggest starting a infosec/hack group? I have seen sites like meetup.com and britekite.com and can start up a twitter account, blog, etc, but do you guys have any suggestions on getting a group off the ground? Thanks, lyonrt

What would you reccomend? I suggested rsync or similar but they want to stick to the bare bones software packaged with the server. Is there a way to get some sort of notification?

At work we use the windows backup utility. Is there a way to get the backup to email me that is failed and or that it is completed?

I dont have access to samba. Is there a command prompt or way to do this with a snapin? Anything I can run on windows? All the machines are either XP, 2000 or vista.

I have a network of about 127 computers. I just came on board and I am fixing all of their screw ups. Besides going to each of the machines and manually changing the workgroup and computer names, is there a way to go in from my machine and change the computer name and workgroup? I looked at a couple of the machines and they are on random workgroups,etc. Thanks for any advice, Ty
