  1. It's still great in a position where you have a POE port to drop it on or want to intercept wired traffic using it's dual eth. You could also use it as a dedicated death device.
  2. I have a bi directional omni that I believe I bought with my MKVI but it's horrible, ( I may be responsible since I hacked it some, cutting and desoldering the cable to shorten it) The first one I have as well but I can't get a better signal with it.
  3. Can you post links on what ones you are using? All the bi directionals I have tried have fared no better than the stock
  4. I found a work around... and even included my work! found the script that is run by the webpage, that populates things with 'uci' and then runs wifi to reset all the interfaces (The reason I get disconnected) ran wifi got heaps of errors from /var/run/wpa_supplicant-wlan1invalid password length 1 (expected 8..63) '$"' failed to parse psk '"$"' failed to parse network bock At this point I'm assuming the system can't handle the wifi password being fed because it has a $??? check and delete file reboot and it's regenerated by system. read into /pineapple/components/system/network to find it uses uci to config things find that uni uses /etc/config directory find the wireless file and put the real password into it where there was just a $ reboot we;lp pineapple boots and connects to desired AP and grants all my dreams and wishes... save for that bug where it didn't take my password and burnt several hours of my day. Just to be sure; WebInterface -> Network -> Client Mode Disconnect verify shows disconnected, wlan1 Disabled, and red light off reboot pineapple with webinterface Follow procedure listed in first post (What I Do) section bug reproduced fix password in /etc/config/wireless (option key '$passwordthathasaUSDsignjustlikethisone') reboot (command line since I'm there) workaround verified Hopefully that should be more than enough to find said bug and repair...
  5. What I do Boot pineapple Connect phone by wifi WebInterface -> Network -> Client Mode Select AP and enter password Click Connect What I expect to happen Red LED to come on RTL (wlan1) to connect to AP listed Display connection information in the appropriate field Pineapple and connected users to receive internet access through AP What happens Spinning pineapple connecting message appears Blue light shuts off I am disconnected Blue light resumes flashing after a very short period I can reconnect When I reload the control panel wlan1 shows Disabled Syslog pasted below Extra info If I change the wlan0 SSID without persisting it before doing this it is reset if I enable wlan1 before clicking network it does NOT change behavior Jan 1 00:05:15 Pineapple kern.info kernel: [ 380.180000] br-lan: port 2(wlan0) entered forwarding state Jan 1 00:05:13 Pineapple kern.info kernel: [ 378.180000] br-lan: port 2(wlan0) entered forwarding state Jan 1 00:05:13 Pineapple kern.info kernel: [ 378.170000] br-lan: port 2(wlan0) entered forwarding state Jan 1 00:05:13 Pineapple kern.info kernel: [ 378.030000] device wlan0 entered promiscuous mode Jan 1 00:05:12 Pineapple kern.info kernel: [ 376.520000] br-lan: port 2(wlan0) entered disabled state Jan 1 00:05:12 Pineapple kern.info kernel: [ 376.520000] device wlan0 left promiscuous mode
  6. Thanks, I'm currently hoping to use my pineapple + battery + case as a portable logging survey that I can graph back when I have my laptop.
  7. I dug through the karma page code and found that you should use hosted_cli. This is all you should have to put into the dip to change it at boot. I tested it on command line and in dip 101 hostapd_cli -p /var/run/hostapd-phy0 karma_change_ssid "Survey" EDIT: as long as you have your pineapple quasi near defaults it should come up with phy0 on AP mode but if not there is a karma_enable flag
  8. I have been curious about doing wifi surveying with the pineapple. What software/gps will you be using on it?
  9. After I posted this I changed the headers to GUI r notepad.exe and "borrowed" a nearby PC and it worked flawlessly even though it seems to type slower on the windows than it was on my mac.
  10. System: MacBook Air 2011 1.6Ghz i5 4GB RAM Mac OS X 10.8 Ducky: White board (ducky-decode duckv2 flashed) & Green Board (out of box) Memcard: Samsung 4gb Class 4, PNY 4gb Class 4, SanDisk 4gb Class 4, Included 256MB Encoder: ducky-decode v2 Ducky is "skipping" keystrokes randomly on my machine. I've tried all the hardware above and while it seems the problem has lessened over time and the more I test it's still not going away. It's easier to show than explain; this is the worst result I had, which was my brand new ducky with the included card. Newer runs have been a lot better but I have not been able to get a flawless run out of it yet. 11. I haven't broken out the traffic sniffers quite yet but it seems that Mac OS X 10.7.4+ does it a little differently. I need to do more testing when I find time.
  12. I noticed Darren complaining about not being able to Nyan iPhones in this post. I searched around and it doesn't seem like anyone found a solution. The below feature isn't officially documented anywhere I could find but some snooping gave it away. When an iOS 3.0 or higher device connects to an open Wi-Fi network and receives it's address through DHCP it sends a basic http request to http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html with the UA string of "CaptiveNetworkSupport/1.0 wispr". If the device receives the appropiate reply the iPhone assumes the wireless connection is open and moves on with the connection phase. If it does not receive the correct reply iOS assumes the network has a captive portal and launches a thin browser for the end user. Every time the user clicks something in the thin browser it pauses before it checks for the apple success page again. Until the check passes the device will route all network connections (besides the thin browser) though the 3G connection. Note this only applies to open networks. Networks with any form of authentication bypass this completely. Here is a copy of the apple success as of the writing of this post <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Success</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY> Success </BODY> </HTML> What you do with this information is up to you. Have fun and stay safe. ^_^
