  1. Haha, you just reminded me of a teacher that required us to write out media access control address instead of mac address just because they had a Macintosh... such a pain :D Could you maybe get him to click on a tinyurl that redirects to it? You could also try to convince him you want to play a game of Quake 3 with him and you have an extra activated copy then send a file that installs quake and something else;p
  2. Wonder if/when people will decide to just stay out of it. Things worked fine without their involvement and I highly doubt anyone would want to see this become reality. Even if they do push this "idea", as history has shown someone will find a way to circumvent it eventually, so they're really just wasting our money... again.
  3. You usually have to catch the free ones within a few hours of them being uploaded, paid ones have worked out great for me though. Of course it wont matter if he doesn't even have any antivirus running, or it shouldn't. I wouldn't know I avoid that operating system like the plague :P
  4. There are a lot of them, you don't HAVE to pay for them, but if you want one that is really FUD you do or you have to have connections to someone that creates their own. He's using a mac though, maybe he bought into the "Macs never get viruses" gimmick?
  5. So long as he doesn't have an antivirus a R.A.T. could work, if you're going to test it locally remember to isolate the virtual network in case things somehow spin out of control. You could always try to make it FUD if you know how to. I really hope I didn't just violate the TOS there haha.
  6. LOL! You could buy one and mail it to him? haha.
  7. I was moreso worried with the common user finding it, buying some tokens and breaking in to some boxes without even knowing what's happening or the repercussions. The tool itself really isn't that impressive, it's handy to have everything in one spot but you're still very limited with it. I also use the BT5 ARM version, it's pretty handy to have so far.
  8. So I was going through the app-store the other night and stumbled across this app called zAnti. As I looked into it, it appeared to have a great deal of power for a free to cheap app (depending on the functions you want). The part that concerned me the most was that with a $20 or so account you get "tokens" which allow you to run exploits on a target machine from their servers, as well as other various things such as man in the middle attacks. The part that concerns me the most is that the user interface is almost too easy, easy enough that your average Joe with a bit of time could figure it out. What do you think about it? Do you think this is just a good tool for pentesters on the go, or do you think it could go down a dark path of semi-aware users exploiting machines "just for the hell of it" or because it's "cool". Personally I am a bit concerned for small businesses and schools at the moment that are primarily using Windows XP.

I have damn small linux on my 1996 Dell Latitude, the only downside to it is firefox apparently takes up the entire 32mb of ram and the page file causing a crash :(
  10. Even though it wont be out til 2013, hands down the most looked forward to title on my list would have to be Watch Dogs. Other than that Planetside 2 is pretty intense as is Mechwarrior Online.
  11. Nice, I have a new one even though it's technically a live wallpaper. It's called Deus Clock and can be found at mobile9 (top of google results). It works pretty good on the S3 but the wallpaper stays centered no matter what page you go to. Here's a video for all that care to see it.
  12. What are your favorite smartphone applications so far? They do not have to involve hacking/cracking but those are welcome too! Personally I'm loving the XBMC Remote application so I can watch TV on my computer while across the room or controlling music for the patio outdoors without having to go in to change it.
  13. Did they ever make the Datrex bars taste decent? Also you should list what backpack you're using. I have an ALICE medium pack for a bunch of storage when I go camping. Also you may want to consider adding some redundancy to those matches and getting a firesteel. I bought one and it has come in handy numerous times no matter the climate. A swiss army knife would come in handy so long as you don't rely fully on it for everything, the Ka-Bar would obviously be used for heavier tasks but some people choose to figure that out on their own and break the swiss army knife. Just be sure that no matter what gun you get you factor maintenance according to your climate (AR15 would work great urban but suck in a marsh) and become proficient with it. I hope you have water even if you haven't listed it here, if you don't have one dedicated, this might be something to look into.
  14. Believe it or not the first Mechwarrior game was the first thing that actually got me into tech; not quite sure how a game made me get into technology but I remember it being a definite factor.

    Halo 4

I've got my eyes on Planetside 2, Mechwarrior Online, Stalker-Online and Survarium personally, as well as a few larger budget PC titles. If this halo comes to PC... maybe... maybe.
  16. Thanks for reminding me that I may or may not need to get wisdom teeth pulled <_< haha

    Tribes Ascend?

I haven't played it in a few weeks but it was fun the last time I played it, just a lot of people complaining about pay to win on a gun or two but if you're a good enough shot you can get the job done B)
  18. Apparently steam is going to start hosting more than just the regular stuff on September 5th, could be interesting.
  19. haha nice! :)
  20. Now I wont have to deal with my Chat windows not fully being detected as WINE half the time...
  21. I still have this, LOL. I'd say go with a droid so long as you find a decent one that can actually operate with overhead, rather than running into CPU 100% issues... gah.
  22. Good to hear that you're looking to the positive side of things. On a side note the main forums page looks pretty awesome now, I really like the style to it. I agree that the revision 3 websites ads were kind of annoying, particularly due to the fact that it required adblocker be disabled... and my pfsense router runs adblocker, which just made everything a really big pain when using R3. Thank you Hak5 Crew for all the hard work! :D
  23. Dell Optiplex GX280 Low Profile: >Ubuntu 12.04: Running - Hostapd - Virtualbox: Running - PfSense Wlan0 in Ubuntu bridged to Br0 running as the Lan connection in PfSense. Using a WNR722N for broadcasting, great range with the stock antenna. So far I haven't had to reboot for a few weeks when I last had it downstairs, great router, vastly superior to my old Netgear WNR1000V2. Gaming PC runs some Rosewill newegg wireless card with two antennas, one stock, one mounted to the right side of my desktop (8dBi) allowing for the signal to penetrate through the wall sized mirror one room over as well as the thick walls. Rock solid gaming setup for me, no latency issues, should hold me over until I can run a cable over to this room.
  24. There's no need to be hostile here, he gave router authentication as an example. Just because someone says "Like if I did this", doesn't mean they are actually doing it. Wireless routers are usually the first entry point into hacking nowadays for most people, even if it is their personal router or one they set up on the side. I believe in the end he phrased is as, how are people going to get my hash and how are they going to use it to gain entry to my networks core, not "Hey guys how do I break into my neighbors router login page". I understand your concern with people doing illegal things, but in the end it is going to happen and that is a risk they agreed to take on their own terms, I believe the user agreement for this website even states that it and its affiliates are not responsible for what you do with the info you find here. Either way, Infiltrator pretty much nailed it with his answer.
