  1. Gonna check this out when I get home today. Can't download it at work - they flag me for this kind of stuff.
  2. Do you know if these payloads are kept up to date? Thanks
  3. Does this app work on Android 4.x? I just got a samsung galaxy s3 and they've switched the app store to the google play store. I was unable to find an app named "network spoofer" or "network spoof" at all. It seems like it would be just a fun thing to have. -Batman
  4. I just booted off of a USB and edited my File System files mentioned above in order to change the settings. I tried doing nomodeset with no help, but maybe that was because I didn't do noacpi as well. I am glad that I finally was able to figure it out.. It's so nice having a portable PC with BT5 on it! :D Now I need to save up for a wifi pineapple!
  5. I figured it out. Here's what I had to do just incase anyone else has this issue ever: In /etc/default/grub find the lines: Code: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="text splash nomodeset vga=791" and change it to: Code: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="text splash" & Code: GRUB_GFXMODE=800x600x32 underneath that line insert: Code: GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD=keep GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=800x600x32 then in /etc/grub.d/00_header find the line: Code: if [ "x${GRUB_GFXMODE}" = "x" ] ; then GRUB_GFXMODE=800x600x32 ; fi then insert below it Code: if [ "x${GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD}" = "x" ] ; then GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD=800x600x32 ; fi In the same file, but farther down the page, find the line: Code: set gfxmode=${GRUB_GFXMODE} insert below that line: Code: set gfxpayload=${GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD} Save file and close. Now run in terminal Code: # update-grub2
  6. here's what happens. here's what happens when i boot off live USB. I chose mode 9 which is 800x600x32 VESA. It owrks perfectly fine. Bootloader is grub.
  7. Hi guys, So I'm trying to install BT5 to the HD of my new netbook, and I'm having trouble with it. When I go to install off of my USB drive, I get this screen [http://i.imgur.com/KlLU1.jpg]. I press "enter" to view the modes. [http://i.imgur.com/ArTwu.jpg]. I select mode 9 - 800x600x32 VESA and everything boots up completely fine. I installed BT5 to the HD with no errors. Then once restarting the computer to boot from the HD it starts loading up, and before getting to the term to login, I get this screen [http://i.imgur.com/Ecz22.jpg]. It lasts about 4 seconds and then the screen goes black with nothing on it. Nothing happens any further. I'm assuming this is an issue with my default video resolution settings. They need to be changed to 800x600 from the 1024x720 or whatever the default is for BT. I've tried googling this with no solutions that have been helpful. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
  8. Ah, sweet. Thanks. I was trying to find some yesterday.. I don't know how I missed this!
  9. Hi guys, I want some Hak5 stickers. How can I get some? Thanks!
  10. If you are going to stick with Windows, I suggest using Microsoft security essentials.. Although I'd look into updating to Windows 7 if at all possible. Windows XP is stricken with Security Flaws, and I'm pretty sure Microsoft has stopped providing updates for that OS. Linux is great, too.
  11. I think it's a bit silly to turn this into any old USB device considering USB thumb drives are dirt cheap. Paying $69.99 for this only to sue it as a thumb drive is a waste of about $50 if you ask me. It's got a lot of potential as it is. How are you "fed up" with this device?

    Coldfusion

What are your takes on coldfusion? Do any of you use this software in a corporate environment? Is it reliable and pretty secure? Is there another application server you prefer over Coldfusion? Skynet
  13. I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant running Android 4.0.3... I love it.. I've had iPhones in the past under my T-Mobile service but it's nothing special. My fiancee has one now, and she's extremely jealous of my Android after playing with it since I updated it to 4.0.x. I've gotten pretty fed up with Apple as a company in general, though, so my opinion is biased. I don't like them because their prices are abusrd for their products. People buy in to the whole craze because they don't really know how much they should be paying for Apple's products.
  14. I didn't know that 2012 was available already.. I may give that a shot. Might just try it as a VM to see what it's like, along with 2008. I guess thats the best bet, right? Thanks for your suggestions.
  15. Thinking about running my own personal server at home. I have free access to both of these operating systems because of my Microsoft Academic Alliance membership from my major in school. Just wanted to get some outside input on these two systems... Which one would you use, and why? Do either of them have any major exploits, etc.? Thanks your your input!
  16. That's what I was thinking...
  17. That was a good read. Although, I think he would have definitely made the deadline of a month had he not gotten so lazy with his connections to his computers. To me that's what really gave him away. Having a remote office to connect to through a secure connection and then surfing using Tor would be a great way to hide your true IP, but the cost of running a remote office would likely be impractical. Considering that Tor also does not require any installation he could have ditched his personal laptop, and instead could have visited internet cafes and used Tor rom those locations. But that was a great read.
  18. Something that' I've been wondering is if one were using Tor to help anonymize internet activities, would it be helpful to connect through an additional proxy after utilizing Tor? Would this help provide redundancy of being anonymous?
  19. This is what I do everytime I log into Reddit. :P
  20. Social engineering at it's best! ;) Just kidding :D
  21. My grandmother trolled me the other day.. I was trying to setup their new wifi router and needed to get on their home PC. She had reset her windows login password to "what" prior to me coming over. I asked her what her password was since it was not the same one I had set it as and she just kept responding with "what". Thinking that she couldn't hear me I repeated this question only to get the same answer. This process repeated 4 times, with me getting a little louder each time. She thought it was hilarious when I finally realized "what" is her password and that she had changed it to do this to me. She laughed with tears in her eyes for about 5 minutes. I got trollolololol'ed by my grandmother. It made me laugh to see her laugh so much about something so silly.
  22. Hey guys, I'm having issues running BackTrack5R2x Gnome 64 from my 4GB USB key. I restart my computer, boot from the flash drive, select the default setting and BackTrack trys to start up. It gets to a point where it doesn't get any further than a message saying: "[ 2.282399] fb: conflicting fb hw usage nouveaufb vs. VESA VGA - removing generic driver _" And then doesn't proceed any further. Ive left the computer alone for a good amount of time with no progress. I've also tried starting BT in debug mode, forensics mode, text, etc .. (http://imgur.com/jq1dt) All had the same result. I used unetbootin on Windows 7 to add the BT.iso image onto the USB, and it said it was successful. I also tried booting this in a Virtual Machine via Microsoft Virtual PC. Does anyone know of a way to fix this, or is it because I'm using R2 instead of R1 like unetbootin tells me to. :9
  23. That's good to know, thanks. I'm afraid I haven't read the windows 7 EULA, but it was on my to-read list!
  24. Exactly why I want one. You raised a lot of good points, NegativeSpace. I knew there wouldn't be much room for upgrades, although there was some hope. Whatever netbook I do decide to get it will be strictly to run BT5 R2. I have a couple of other computers that are for other tasks, I just wanted a highly portable netbook with BT5 to add to my toolkit. I tried doing packet injections before on my home network with my previous macbook pro and learned all about how some wireless cards don't support injecting. I am planning on purchasing the Alpha card from Hak5, along with my own pineapple, I just need to save up the cash! :) Anyway, I appreciate you guys taking the time to give me your 2cents!
  25. If you want good fps (frames per second) then you need a good graphics card. I have a GE Force 550 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130625) in my computer and it's scored a 7.8/7.9 on the WEI. It's a relatively cheap card pricewise, and it handles games at the highest resolutions and visual effects very easily. Graphics cards have GPU's which are much better at processing data for images on the screen, hence why you get a graphics card to handle that kind of data. In fact, Mythbusters did a very entertaining demonstration on how a CPU handles images and how well a GPU handles images.. http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvision08_gpu_v_cpu.html Check it out! SSD drives are good for faster loading. If you need something cheaper but still not too slow you could get a HD that will transmit data at 6.0gbs through a sata cable, but make sure the MB you buy also can handle that kind of rate. RAM - 8 GB's will do pretty well depending on the speed at which it can handle data. If you buy an 8GB set of RAM at 2133 MHz you'll likely be completely fine. Im my system I have 8GB 2133 DDR3 RAM and it scored a 7.9 by itself. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231468) This is a good set here, and it's not too expensive. Make sure you get a tower that has enough ventilation and possibly room for additional fans. I'm not sure what your budget is like for your gaming rig, but I'd highly recommend that set of RAM and the Graphics card regardless of whether you have a lot or a little $ to spend.
