  1. I read something about the NSA breaking the dh public key exchange. They also mentioned something about breaking bulk keys 1024 b. Does this mean any thing? What I got from the article was they are trying to ease drop on some conversations entering the Country, The bulk key allows them to break lots of keys. I think they are looking at VPN's and maybe HTTPS. What does this mean for SSH? Here are the articles what do you think. https://www.lawfareblog.com/nsa-and-weak-dh https://freedom-to-tinker.com/blog/haldermanheninger/how-is-nsa-breaking-so-much-crypto/
  2. It is a ieee standard so more vendors than just cisco should support it. I am looking at intervlan routing. Does anyone have any experience with these other vendors.

  4. Fake bsod awesome never thought about that.
  5. What was the best spoof you did with gimp. I changed a logo on a beer can and a wine bottle. Covered up someone else's logo. Things like this I am trying to have fun. P.S I still have not set up my Rasberry pi.
  6. Yeah Thanks Man I will phone a friend to give me a box to take good signal close to the window and boost it.
  7. In the US the fcc says cell and wifi signals cant be jammed or blocked.
  8. I should be able to ssh into it to set it up right.
  9. Some places I work have little or no cell coverage in their building. I have to go sit by a window to get signal. These are giant financial companies can they get around the fcc rules about blocking cell phone signal range. I understand there are rules about financial data. As there are secure areas in these buildings with bullet proof glass and the door is locked at all times. Are they allowed to get around these rules. I have to sit by a window to get signal of any kind. Is this common.
  10. I have an antenna connected to a 1w wifi adapter only 750mw fcc reg. I think it does a little better than without it. I hang out at a coffee shop in the same plaza as the one where I work. With the 9db antenna connected to the adapter I could connect to work with okay signal. This is only about 700 feet plus the Access point is in the attic of our building. You have all of the building material plus all of the interference. I am not sure if you will get 2500 feet unless it is open outdoor and there is a direct line of sight on a perfectly clear day with no interference . The other thing to look into is what is called a parabolic antenna and yes you can bridge access points to extend them but performance suffers.
  11. The businesses on our side of the street did not make any money that night. When you own a bar and have to close on a Saturday night. It sucks.
  12. If they could inspect the transformers on the poles they need to get a contract with the city I live in. One blew up had a cable slam through an awning. My power went out. I had to come in on my day off to verify the equipment came back up. This sounds like a good idea.
  13. You are the guy with all the answers.  This is weird or sad I know.  I helped with a pc move project and day one support.  What we were doing is moving pc's for users moving to a new area in the building.  This is the issue we had some tech's that I don't know how they got on this project.  How do you talk to them.  I say this is where techs have trouble try to do this or why dont you do this.  Rather than do it this way or don't do this.  We have forms we have to fill out when we do the moves so the user does not come back after us for missing items.  None of my help filled them out plus they would do things like plug the vga cable from one monitor to another. I wish I knew which tech this was so I could toss him out.  I had already worked 7 days in a row on various projects this is my eighth day working.  People wonder why I am insane.  How do people deal with this we had 20 people to move 300 users put pc's in a bracket under the desk.  The monitors were put on adjustable built in stands.  There phones and some people had printers.  It took three days We got the job done.

  14. I got lucky the T1 was configured tested it signed out went home. You are absolutely right look up the pinouts and make one.
  15. I know this is sad and lame. I need an adtran console cable. I cant find one locally and cant wait to order one online. What can I do I am out of luck. I can a couple of Cisco console Cables. They do not work with adtran. What can I do.
  16. You are right the best solution is something like a craddle point which has a console in port. Plugs right into a cisco router It has been tested at many businesses we know it works. The only one we cant deal with for more than a few minutes is a power outage unless you have something better than a UPS.
  17. I think it is a good idea to setup dial backup for network devices. A cradle point could do this for those of us who dont have access to the pstn. I dont think Cell phones work with external modems. You could setup a PI device and teach the person to tether there phone to it ssh to the PI device and console in. This requires to many steps for even a noob. The point is what happens when your network goes down how can you remote into it.
  18. This was done on the show I think. Using the Kali or other wifi tools to have fun with them.
  19. Excuse my bad gramar. I am looking into rov's. Even if it is tethered. I want to see why I am not catching fish. Also I hook a fish something eats it. I hook a small fish and huge annoying fish eats it. Also I missed barcamp this year and astricon in south florida. Everytime I plan or think about doing anything I am working. This is cool. About 3 weeks ago I bought a rasberri pi it is still in the box. I am going to set it up.
  20. I am just a guy who used to have time for this kind of stuff I am learning how to make time. I play with linux, cisco devices, rollout computers at work, and do other IT related stuff. Play the guitar and go fishing. For fishing I need an ROV to see why I am not catching any. Used to drink beer wine jack dont have time.
  21. At work we have a very weak signal which causes the battery in our phones to die quickly. This is a big financial company. With employees from all over the world including latin america and Europe. Can this company get around the law about jamming cell signals. Also could they be doing this to protect sensitive data. To keep people from using there phones to transfer data take pictures of screens and more. Can companies do this to protect sensitive data. Say Health care and financial businesses.
  22. Wow I saw two today at work. At our tech expo I was walking around helping users. I get to do the same tomorrow and tear the whole event down.
