  1. Couple of points: At $3000+ I wouldn't buy that kit, maybe if it was $300 I would buy it just for kicks and to look "cool". Back to the topic: I guess they already know he's downloaded (rather than shared) something he shouldn't have, I mean they don't randomly pick on people? So either his home address, IP or email address is associated with a site or group distributing this stuff or he’s been online and foolish downloaded torrents containing this data. The hardest part they have is proving it was him and his PC, it’s the common argument that people are putting up at the moment vs. other legal cases and they can only prove that someone on your network downloaded something, they can’t prove who.
  2. I think LogMeIn would do the job for you, the only thing the free version doesn't really offer is filesharing, otherwise I think you'd be looking at punching holes in your firewall and using something like VNC (as mentioned above)
  3. So... Cooper... lets see your sick porno then? Please!

  6. Surely that website is doing Hak5 a favour? Doesn't Hak5 get commission every time someone uses one of the show sponsors coupons?
  7. Please provide details of your WAN connection, this is likely to be the cause of the problem. Have a look at getting the video contented hosted externally (I'd guess your clients may not want this) on somewhere like YouTube and then embed the videos into your website. I assume that when you view the videos internally (e.g. on your LAN) that they play ok?
  8. He means that this community (Hak5) are not game developers.
  9. Some of NETGEARS NAS' support expandable RAIDS. NETGEAR ReadyNAS NV+ or maybe DUO (anything that has RAID-X), doesn’t really answer your question about software, but figured someone may find it useful.
  10. Is that mouse like super small? I'm quite impressed by my Microsoft Arc as it folds out to be a pretty much full size mouse :D, I have big hands and little mice like those dont work well for me.
  11. Figured it would do nicely as a mouse to throw in my laptop bag for travelling :D
  12. Sounds like more of an issue with SPAM detection at your Mail Provider
  13. I use Zoneedit rather than dyndns, however I run a router with dd-wrt and that sync's my IP whenever it changes
  14. ROFL, when I saw the title of this thread I was like WTH is "Neckless", I figured it must be some term along the lines of "Headless" (referring to running Servers without a monitor), after watching the video I now fully understand =D
  15. Hummm... I've taken a look at the last 4 episodes or so and I can't find any NAS reviews, the only thing close to a NAS review is the stuff about 'Drobo FS' which looks more a full of a fully functional NAS and blows my budget. Yes, the company I work for has a production plant in China and we are going out there to upgrade the wireless network, implement handheld barcode scanners, implement bar-coding / warehouse management, and also upgrade their current server (Dell PowerEdge 4600) to a HP Blades, so we're gunning for a 3-4 week project, very aggressive timeline given that the Chinese don't like working past 5PM and don't work weekends... then throw in the spyware and virus riddled systems that will need to be worked on That link is just to 'Amazon' products? That NAS looks ok, it'll probably cost more than the Netgear Stora I was originally looking at, plus I’d have to hook it up to a system that’s running. Ideally I’m looking for something that doesn’t pull a whole lot of juice, our electric bill is insane! One Idea I’m toying with is adding an extra disc to my Citrix XenServer and then creating a dedicated Xen Server to hosting / streaming / storing my media, does anyone have any suggestions for what NAS software to use? However, with the Netgear Stora I could plug it into my office network here, given the time difference (plus the load balanced DSL we have) I’d probably get a better connection (at least while in China) I keep flip flopping on what solution to go for :P
  16. Perhaps you guys can help, I've been looking to buy a NAS for use at home. I am going to China on business for around a month and wanted access to (mainly) my music. I keep flip flopping over what NAS to get, I didn't really want to spend £300 or £400, but then I started thinking iSCSI would be cool and I could start messing around with VM's in XenCenter, but then again its £400. I came across the NETGEAR® STORA http://www.netgear.co.uk/ms2110.php which I can buy and get 2 x 1TB disks for around the £150 mark. The Netgear is your basic NAS and the 2 disks can only be configured in RAID 1, but it does come with a service for accessing your media remotely which I figured was pretty cool and did the job. Just wondering if anyone else had any thoughts or insight.
  17. Best of luck with this, I started coding a tile based MMO / RPG, there is a lot of stuff to think about. It would be cool if you could break into the market with something different, leveling forever sucks =] "Your character is a level 1 Technical Service Engineer, you must guide him/her through the dangerous world of cooperate IT support facing dangerous beasts such as the deadly blaster worm in search of the mystical ‘Holy OS’!”
  18. In case anyone missed this 'epic event' check out the link below, a friend of mine played CS for 38 hours straight in order to raise money for charity and also attempt to break a world record. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-11057936
  19. Well, as you've said yourself, I have years of VB.net development, it doesn't help me much when applying for a C# Job so I can see what they've done. £28k would be the salary they offer for Mr Perfect. Take the job and see how it goes, don't think twice about leaving if you get a better offer. I took a job that paid good, worked 1 week, decided I didn't like the travelling nor the people (Also the Job was really badly pitched to me, turned out VB.net was a really small part of the job and C# was what they wanted) so I quit after 1 Week, the company was pissed at me, but it's not my problem, couldn't give two hoots, I got paid for that Week and walked straight into a 1st/2nd/3rd Line support role, learned a lot and then moved on after 1 1/2 years.
  20. VaKo works for Del Monte, and his VIP User is "The Man" from Del Monte I'm in a rather random mood today
  21. :) Did Microsoft get the blame for that one? I once did a SVC Restore from a Server... that was a fun day.
