When I first got my La Fonera router I ran into some problems. First, when I tried to flash it, it said that Redboot for telnet was not enabled. What you have to do then is the following:
FIRST A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT PLUG THE FONERA INTO THE INTERNET. THE EARTH WILL EXPLODE. AND THE FONERAS FIRMWARE WILL BE UPDATED.
1. Check your firmware: Is it 0.7.1 r1 or lower? You are good to go. Is it higher (as in my case) than just grab a paperclip and hit the resetbutton for 20 seconds. Then wait till he comes back up.
2. Download this package (http://www.multiupload.com/75FEX6SAR8) MD5: 3cc427e39112fe2319009ae0e420efdd
3. Follow steps 1 trough 10 on this page: http://forums.hak5.org/index.php?showtopic=9908
(all the files that you need are in the zip. WinSCP and Putty are on the internet. Mr. Google can help you find them)

Btw. Jasager is an awesome piece of software. Had a lot of fun. People stopped by with their laptops in front of my doorstep. Made a little A3 that says free internet. And when they go. They get an awesome rickroll. thanks for all your help DigiNinja!

It was just the antenna. Very, very weak or just broken.

Hmm. With the standard fon firmware. The Wifi worked just fine. But with the Jasager OpenWRT firmware. The range is very short. I have to be directly in front of it to get 4 out of 5 bars.

Everything is set up and should work now. Only, I can't connect to my FON wirelesly. The signal is also poor and so Jasager does not work well. Is this a hardware or software issue?

I downgraded to 0.7.1 r1. Followed the steps on this page http://forums.hak5.org/index.php?showtopic=9908. And it worked! I am flashing the firmware right now as I am typing this. Just needed to patch the redboot. And that is supersimple with that old but GOLDWORTH forumpost. Thanks Darren! You're a genius
-- I downgraded to 0.7.1 r1 by holding the reset button for 20 seconds. After that. It will reset to factory rom. After that. I could run the SSHenable.html and get in my FON.

I don't think it's UK. But it is possible. Can I check that somewhere.. And how can I manualy enable it?
-- I am running the flashapp when the FON power is plugged out and a ethernet cable is connected to my PC. Then I hit GO in the app and plug the power in. After a couple of NO PACKET's I see that error

Hmm. The AP51 utility says that Telnet for redboot is not enabled. How do I resolve this problem?

Thanks! Will try it when I get the little badass piece of hardware :). I can tell you allready that it is a original FON La Fonera. Not the Plus or something.

Dear Hak5 fans,
I found a secondhand FON router on the internet and I will get it in the mail tomorrow. I bought it for it's Jasager thingies that it can do. But i'm not sure what guide to follow to do this all.
