  1. $ sudo update-alternatives –config x-www-browser There are 2 alternatives which provide `x-www-browser’. Selection Alternative ———————————————– 1 /usr/bin/firefox *+ 2 /usr/bin/opera Press enter to keep the default[*], or type selection number: Very interesting how the commands differ in this OS to set the default browsers. This is going to be fun.:) Also noticed that there are 32bit versions of Ubuntu and 64bit Ubuntu. Very interesting. ;)
  2. Cool and very informative. Thanks for posting that. Seen a lot of articles on the net with respect to cracking and hacking.
  3. I love Firefox. I likes its layout better. I've found less of a problem with it. But, will give Chrome a try with Ubuntu. I'm online right now with my WLAN connection and am on Firefox. Going to be downloading some browsers and trying them out. Thanks for your response. ;)

  8. Say... I got a -1! LOL Well, I'm not the only person here. ;) Interesting rating system. ;)

Fun to be here amongst you folks! :)

  9. Very eloquently said. ;) If I had a lot of money, I'd keep a bit for myself and help others with the rest of it. My parents taught me well the real values in life. I'm rich with family and friends. :)
  10. Nice to meet ya friend! :)

  11. Interesting and very informative. Thanks very much for posting the link. :)
  12. Interesting. I've found the opposite. Am actually online here at the moment using Comodo Dragon. Comodo Dragon apparently isn't available for Ubuntu as of yet. Was just checking the Comodo forums. Bit leery of Google Chrome due to security issues, but, am still willing to give it a try. Thanks for your response. :)
  13. Thanks for your response. :) Chrome you say? Might try that. I've used Google on my desktop myself. Which chromium browser do you use? I like Comodo Dragon.
  14. Good to know. Thank You. :)
  15. Recently I came into possession of an Asus eee PC. It has Ubuntu as the OS. Connected last night on to the forums here with Firefox using WLAN. Apparently, Firefox is the default browser for Ubuntu? Was doing some research into Ubuntu as I'm more familiar with Windows OS and MAC OS. Really liking the Ubuntu OS. Crisp and clean and has a very nice feel to it. Would like to try out some other browsers with it and was considering perhaps Opera. Would like to know how many members here use Ubuntu on a daily basis and what browser they use with it. Comments? Recommendations? FYI Firefox is my favorite browser at the moment, but, I'm willing to try out other browsers. I've done this on my desktop PC which has a Windows OS. Who knows the next one I try might become my new favorite. I like to try new things, especially when it comes to computers. Liking the Ubuntu OS very much.

  21. Hi Boris!

    Nice to meet ya! ;)

  22. You said it was about three years old? IMHO I don't think it would hurt to open it up and give it a good cleaning, been doing that with my PC as long as I've owned it and when it was under warranty. Well, to be honest I'm licensed to work on all makes of PC's and have a MAC license. ;) If the fan isn't dirty, could be some other conflicts i.e. hardware issues, doesn't look like software to me. Good luck!
  23. Hi everyone :) I'm looking at buying either a Macbook or a PC notebook. It's for a home based computer consulting business I'm running. I won't be needing something that has a lot of bells and whistles or like a race car. LOL I'm not going to be using it for gaming. I'm leaning towards a Macbook since IMHO it's got the best hardware. My brother bought one recently (he's a mechanical engineer) and actually has Windows 7 as his OS on his Macbook. I've been pricing out different makes of PC notebooks i.e. Sony, Toshiba, etc. and Macbooks ,etc. and was thinking of even having Windows 7 with Linux running underneath as my OS. Also, I'll be using a mobile stick to connect to the internet. Any suggestions? And what types of laptops/notebooks/mini net-books do you all have and what do you like about them and their specs? It will help in my decision. Thanks! :) Hak5 is a great forum and all the members are so nice here. :) (I'm a little puzzled at how the rating system here works when you click to vote on a person's post. Not sure why mine is a -1. But, that's OK. Maybe I worded this wrong? Please bear with me I'm new here and learning the ropes of this forum. Am really enjoying it here. Very helpful and informative topics. Thanks! :)) (Thanks for the votes(stars) for my post title. It's greatly appreciated. This is a wonderful forum and all the members here are very nice):)
  24. I thought as much and good to know. I didn't mind this at all BTW and am really enjoying the forums. ;)
