  1. Place to buy them in the UK (not affliated, just googled for it) £15 = $25 ish So gonna get some though, useful to leave them in your car or bike, or at the bottom of your bag.
  2. I you use NASAs World Wind you can pull the images from the cache in DDS format. And using the Nvidia DDS photoshop plugin you can stitch them together to create a hires panorama.
  3. Google Local... beyond that email darren...
  4. Got to admit, Apple have done wonders by switching to Intel.
  5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cedega list of games: http://cedegawiki.sweetleafstudios.com/wiki/Category:Games This should let you run windows games on linux, never used it myself but people say its good. Linux really isn't a gaming OS though, you may as well set up a dual boot for the games.
  6. SLI/Crossfire is even more of a fucking joke IMHO... Read some reviews, google like crazy, LEARN why this is a better card than others. If it is, buy it and enjoy it. But think about more RAM and Storage space, because while a fast graphics card is good today, more RAM and HD's will be a better deal in the long run.
  7. dude, seriously, all you need to do is work out how much you can afford, and then read some reviews based on that number. I have a nvidia gfx 6200 AGP with 256mb of ram. It cost £40 (around $70) and I can play BF2 just fine. Those super top end graphics card you see... there a rip off. Something around $100 - $150 will see you just fine, paying more than just is not really worth it unless bragging rights are important to you. Then use the money saved for another hard disk.
  8. Not sure, personnally i thought The Rock had died off in the Great Bicep Shortage of '03 but you live and learn. Glad you like the show though, you might also find The Colbert Report funny if you enjoy satire.
  9. Is the power supply ATX or AT?
  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR_SDRAM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SDR_SDRAM Basically you want to get 2 sticks of DDR ram (the same type and size etc) and junk any SDRAM you have in there. I'd got for around 1GB as a minimum.
  11. Nah, there crap... get a S3 Savage 2000!
  12. How old is the box? Whats the spec?
  13. I'm sorry, but WTF? Your scared of Goths whos only method of attack is Photoshop?

  16. I think its more of a way of thinking the actual amount of exposure, very little stuff i did before the mid 90's was anymore than playing games. I do remember upgrading to windows 95, but today it means jack. After that it was a steady case of just learning to fix problems [i'd caused] before anyone could get me into trouble for it. And if i'm really honest, i've actually learnt everything important in the last 4 years. There are some people who can skim a tutorial and then pwn a problem, and others who cannot figure out email without a 16 page animated guide and tech support. Some people just figure out how to learn quickly, you must be one of them.
  17. Cool, looks like one chavtastic night on the town... <bitch_mode /on> smaller images maybe?? </off>
  18. From TFA: Which lead me to this, which in turn led to this and this Which would suggest that to recover data from a 2 disc RAID1 where disc 1 has failed, you would replace the disc (think it has to be the exact same type of disc, anyone want to correct me?), then load your RAID management and mirror the contents of the 2nd drive back to the fresh drive. Then your good to go. Or, as i forgot to mention, just plug the good disk in to another box and treat it like a normal disk.
  19. This any use? Taken from : http://www.acnc.com/04_01_00.html

  21. From where I'm typing its so murky all my lawyers have nightvision goggles and radar ;-) I'm guessing your american then, because I watch a fair number of torrented shows from america, and your right. I cannot belive how often they break for adverts over there. 4 times in a 1/2 hour show?! WTF?! In the UK 3 breaks in a 1hr show, and even that annoys me. But do have the BBC, which is funded by a tax on TV sets. This means there are no adverts (expect for other shows and maybe other BBC channels). I did used to hate the TV tax, but now i realise its actually a damn good idea. There attitude to online music and TV is really good for a "mainstream" outfit. The problem with Indy ideals is that everything costs money. DV cams, tape, storage, bandwidth & hosting, computers, editing software, sets and lighting doesn't come cheap. And neither does peoples time when you have to work around multiple scheduals. When people invest money in you and your idea, they're doing it because they belive in what your doing enough to expect some form of return for this. You can get grants, and NPO's helping you out, but these are small and few. So you need buisness. Money does do strange things to you, simply because no matter how humble you are. You want a nice comftable house, nice food, cool toys and a good life. And if someone is offering you money to do something you enjoy doing, your going to take it. The trouble is that as soon as its someone elses money, they have a say in what you do with it. Piss them off and your not going to get anymore. I'm interested in how old you are, not to be insulting. Because when I started my film making/photography degree i was of a very similar mind. I hated those people who sold out, hated how they'd let there work become more mainstream. But then you start having to think about bills, food, course costs. Everything costs money. So you have to work, usually really shit jobs (including one job that was 6AM to 6PM in a freezer... for 3 weeks, 7 days a week...). And when your working those jobs, all you can think of is hoping whatever your doing will work out and you can forget this ever happend. So yeah, while a 90% of everything is shit, don't be to hard on the people who choose to become "mainstream". Were Rage Against The Machine/South Park/Family Guy sell outs or were they working for change in the industry?
  22. Hmm... bit pricey... think I'll just go back to zipping up my files, renaming it to barely_legal_teenage_sluts.mpg and sharing it via P2P. That way your a few clicks away from your data at any computer with net access. Or, just back everything up onto offline HD's, how long does data last on a HD sitting on the shelf? Anyone know?
  23. Aside from Ali and Jenn, do we actually have any women on this forum?
  24. Is a tape drive something you want to get off ebay? Or is it actually worth getting one new/refurbished? And how long would 500GB take to back up?
