yea, no worries, i can't remember the username and password to the 1000 different web based bank accounts that i've taken out under a long list of different names. would one of you guys help me get them back. it's ok, you wont get into trouble, they're all my accounts, i swear... you know routers all have reset buttons on them dont you if you forgot the default one, this site might help

yea, the golden ratio is pretty cool e though (2.71828) is the king of random numbers i feel it just doesn't get all the credit it deserves. it's like, if they were people, pi would be the arrogant, less intelligent, less capable one who gets all the women, and e would be the better number that misses out
  4. yea, i think daylight savings makes much better use of the daylight hours during the summer South Australia changes by only 30mins. Those guys are retarded.

i felt this appropriate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbWq_-U7Lc4 enjoy!
  6. How is daylight savings managed on a computer? is there a flag in the BIOS saying whether it's on daylight savings or not? because if it's just something that the OS is supposed to remember i think that would be kinda lame, especially if you duel boot. Both OSes changing the time by an hour when it's changeover time, that would be kinda lame.

6 oh, and if you want to skip ahead and ruin all the fun of this great thread just go here
  8. i'd find it if i was looking for stuff on your computer, but your 12yo little brother probably wouldn't, unless he watches the show ;) 500MB .jpeg files would just scream out at me also, what are you so worried about? are you ashamed that you enjoy looking at naked women?
  9. i've used virtual box it does a pretty good job. it's about as fast as vmware, perhaps a little slower, but that's just the feel i got, i didn't run any benchmarks it only provides more simple features, lets you run another os. Vmware has cool stuff like letting you pause and instance of a vm, video capture and other cool stuff apparently virtual box went GPL, so that's always cool
  10. hell yea piracy is a better choice! the DVDs you buy from the shady chinese guy from the market who speaks 3 words of english play fine no matter the region of your dvd player. With all of the AACS crap like revocation and thousands of dollars worth of home media equipment that plays blurry video because the HDMI output hasn't been certified, you'ld be a moron to buy anything other than a clean, DRM free version. If memory serves, heaps of people were having trouble getting HL2 working with it needing to be authenticated through steam, why the warez guys, with their clean cracked versions just needed to copy and paste.
  11. Vista ultimate in .au $751 are the RHEL licenses for only a year, or is support for only a year, do you have to destroy all data on your computer if you don't wish to renew. I find that kinda unlikely
  12. 9/10 apparently i would be able to pick out hannibal lecter at an open source convention. my liver is safe all open source programmers look like serial killers
  13. I would really doubt live.com on OS X, but i did read somewhere, probably just as inaccurate, that msn.com and other MS assets in fact use Linux based firewalls and that scans were showing up as Linux. That would be pretty funny
  14. it's probably just because it eats alot of bandwidth that's what i think they're going to do where i go to uni all forms of IM and email, except from the uni's service, are blocked already anyway. As well as anything other than port 80 and 443
  15. I think a quote about wine somewhere is that they attempt to duplicate the win32 API, bugs and all. It's not a good replacement for windows, it's a replacement that tries to be as much like windows as possible.
  16. Perhaps it makes up for all of those people that had to pay the Windows laptop tax only to get rid of it soon after and install Linux. I think that Vista costs about the same as XP, except Vista Ultimate, which is $751AU. I seriously think that's unreasonable. Windows isn't an especially good OS, it is however a really great platform because of how much 3rd party support it receives. As for feeling guilty for MS, yea, my heart is tearing apart for all the top MS executives and share holders...
  17. I don't think so. If something is better than something else, or something has a problem, you should say so. As for GNOME vs KDE Linus has a really good point KDE is very functional and makes using a very efficient process that still allows alot of functionality. People say that it's bloated, but I think that isn't too big a problem. -The very easy to use wizard that comes when you log on for the first time has a very simple slider that lets you choose how much eye candy you want. -As for the amount of space that it takes up, most modern desktops come with a few hundred GB, I think that its size is reasonable. I think that some people like to use the light desktops, like fluxbox and others. These are lighter, but they're also not as attractive, but more importantly, have less functionality and are less intuitive and more difficult to use. If you have the hardware, why not go for something simple and easy to use, and nice to look at.
  18. wow, i feel bad now. It's almost like im one of those guys that give shit to new people or people who ask new guy questions im sorry
  19. put the following 2 lines in a file at http://hak5.org/robots.txt User-agent: * Disallow: /forums/ that should fix any problems with googlebot or any other bots messing with the forums
  20. vi ftw! not a fan of emacs. i think it has an email client, rss reader and is used by some people as their actual unix shell. some people just want to edit text files with their text editor
  21. I don't think it's a real question. I think it's more like those questions girls ask like, "does my butt look big in this?" where they're not asking for an accurate appraisal of the degree to which a particular item of clothing actually changes the perceived dimensions of their anatomy. Rather they just feel guilty about that huge piece of chocolate cake that they ate the other day and want to be told that they appear attractive. So, yes. theSmiler, you are absolutely correct and your friend is a moron... and no, you're butt doesn't look big in that
  22. I would actually recommend another distro SabayonLinux I was messing with it yesterday, it looks really good. It uses Gentoo as its base, but is designed to just allow stuff to work out of the box. It's an installable liveDVD (CD version available as well). It comes with proprietary drivers and hence xgl and all that really cool stuff works right away without needing any configuration. My wifi still doesn't work though :( My personal experience from kubuntu tells me that it's pretty unstable and stuff often breaks One problem with this distro though is that it's pretty small and isos are usually only available through bittorent, there are only a few http mirrors, and they usually only come after the bittorent release
  23. i was smarter than Moonlit i saw a guy sticking a screwdriver into his head and said to myself, "yep, i'm not watching this"
