  1. yehh =| any other open source firewalls? so we can dump ZA Agreed, but I realy do need out bound control, and ZA Pro (at least) offers what I have found to be the best.
  2. Can't be done with out writing a program to do it. I wrote a program a while ago that changed the colour of individual charaters (in C++) but i can't remeber where i put it nor how I did the colour changeness.
  3. Esentialy yes, but it's what it might be sending home that is worrying.
  4. I ask because well... check out my blog. Who else has noticed any suspicious activity?
  5. The PCI bus has a maximum though put of 133MB/s, since 100 Mbps is 12.5MB/s I don't see much of a problem. If, however, you are using gigabit networks cards (and all servers should have a Gigabit network card), then you are going to have a problem, if the master node has two any way, (1000 / 8 = 125) there would be a slow down. It would get worse if you where xen'ing 3 servers on the cluster and each one had it's own gigabit network card in the master node. Perhaps it would be wise to run the main server (say the network user authentication server) on the master node, so then it only needed 2 giabit network cards and then run the other two servers (xen'ed obviusly) on another two nodes and fit thoughs nodes with another gigabit network card. There by keeping the proccessing distibuted but easeing the load on the master node?
  6. No, what I want to know is how you would give each xen session it's own IP address, and prefrably it's own MAC address.
  7. Not nearly as owned as David got owned in "David Vs paxman", fortunatly for us, all Newsnight 'episodes' are avalable online ^^ http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/avdb/news_web/...d9c_16x9_bb.ram
  8. skipp to 9:45 and watch yee RIAA man (who appears to have stolen some ones voice) get owned! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5995592804537343273
  9. seee yonder v1de0 'bout yeeee net pirate's! http://youtube.com//player.swf?video_id=vN...JAHTs&l=238 (although not directly about pirates, it's about file sharing in general)

  12. ok, so it's faily obviuse that distrabuting proccessing is a good idea since 10 fast computers is for more finantily efficent then buying one realy fast computer (putting all your eggs in one basket). How ever, to make full use of th processor power avalable it is a good idea to run two or three server on the cluster using xen. Again, this is easy to understand, how ever, it's the network implications that i'm lost about. Say this cluster is running three servers for a big network, and you want each server to have there own IP address (obviusly), how would you achive this? Would you, for example, have 4 network cards in the master node, 1 to connect to the network that the nodes are on (since they should be on there own network to increase security), and the other 3 so that each of the 3 servers have there own uniquie IP address and MAC addess?

Wee bee setting sail for thee seven ISPs!
  14. Ye, thoughs are realy cool, although they only have about 8GB of space, but i think the speed makes up for that, thats enough to put any linux distro on, i belive some one installed FreeBSD on to one and it loaded in 4 seconds :| Here is a video of the HyperDrives biggest (and only?) rivale the I-RAM drive loading windows.
  15. You have the most expencive version, and you got it from the goverment for free :|
  16. The chepist version that comes with PowerPoint is about £180. Do you have FrountPage?
  17. Whice version do you have? The most expencive version is about £300 the cheapist been about £130.
  18. Free as in Beer? No Free as in stolen Beer? Yes
  19. Yes, this whole thread is spam! Has every one clicked my forbbiden link yet? :D
  20. I did kind of see the physics joke, but it's not much of a joke, it's more of interpritable, I think you where refering to a (waht i know it as, although it's probably called some thing else) the godzilla theory. [HYPERFOCUS!] Godzzila is suposably a mutated modern repile (not a dinasaw), how ever, this theory does not work, becasue, for example, although one human can support it's own wight, if you put another 10 humans on it, what happens? The bottom human gets crushed. The same applie for any object, one bail of hayt can support it's self, but it cannot support another 10 ontop of it. So, the point is that Godzila would litraly brake it's legs under it's own body wight. [/HYPERFOCUS!] Excuse the spelling, I see getting my ideas across more important then spelling, i do take more care on my gramma how ever.
  21. How would Linux suddernly collapse? Last year RedHat's revinue had more the doubled from last year, if RedHat's income has increased by such a huge amount, surly that means that Linux (at least RedHat ) is on it's way up. Although, realisticly (and this is almost blasphamy), Linux dose not realy have a place on the desktop, yes you can use it, but it's still too over difficult for the avarage user. How ever, Linux is dominating the server market (no supprise there), but, unfortunatly, Windows is also growing on servers, this is becasue asp is "better" then php, perl and python combined (total bollocks). The real reason windows is growing on to servers is becasue it's the people at the top that pay for it that deside what the server is going to be running, these poeple usaly know less about computers in general then a dead squiral. I point you to a today Digg artical (asuming it's not fake): http://www.thedailywtf.com/forums/65974/ShowPost.aspx, insted of fixing the huge security hole in the system, the manager just said "don't copy and paste stuff"...
  22. I blame the forums suddernly vanishing.
  23. As I said, AntiVir Personal Editon, it's free it *works* and, as I type this it;s using 5MB of memory and has used 6minuets and 18 seconds of CPU time dur in the 7 days 21 houres and 33 minuets my computer has been on. *It does work, but it's not the best at detecting viruses using it's real time scanner, it catches most of them, but it's batch file scanner is better.
  24. Yes, if Linux does not become more standardised (like BSD), then most likly it's going to remain *difficult*, redhat tried (and failed) with RPMs, what Linux realy needs to get it moving is a Linux equivilent of the "InstallShield" that windows has. It also needs Photoshop, but i belive about a month ago Adobo got punched in the face discovering that most poeple who want to use Photoshop use Linux as there main OS.
