  1. This is the reason why we use backtrack for these sort of things because most cards aren't capable of this in windows. You need an AirPcap card (expensive) to do that in windows. LINK: http://www.cacetech.com/products/airpcap.html
  2. I just tried BT4 R2 from the official website, and unfortunately the problem persists. I guess I'll look up some tuts on installing display drivers. Thanks.
  3. I'm running BT4 Final.. I ran the live cd, and copied the xorg.conf from it, and added some modes but I still have the problem: # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file) # # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using # values from the debconf database. # # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page. # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.) # # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only* # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg # package. # # Note that some configuration settings that could be done previously # in this file, now are automatically configured by the server and settings # here are ignored. # # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated # again, run the following command: # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Configured Monitor" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Monitor "Configured Monitor" Device "Configured Video Device" # DefaultDepth 8 # DefaultDepth 16 DefaultDepth 24 # DefaultDepth 32 Subsection "Display" Depth 16 Modes "1600x900" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" EndSubsection Subsection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1600x900" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" EndSubsection Subsection "Display" Depth 32 Modes "1600x900" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" EndSubsection EndSection When I try to run the xorg utility, I get an error about fb0 not being a directory. Then is creates xorg.conf.new in root and when I try using it as my zorg.conf, I get the "no screens" error. This is a real pain in the ass. I would stick with the 800x600, but it really hurts my eyes. Thanks.
  4. Thank you for your response, but unfortunately following your post didn't fix the issue. When I add the displays, I get 'no screens' error and something about there being an error upon reading the conf file. Any other ideas? Thanks.
  5. I'm running a Sony Vaio Laptop with an ATI HD 4650 gfx chip, the 16.4 inch display sports a native resolution of 1600x900. My xorg.conf file in /etc/X11 is empty and the only resolutions available to me in backtrack are 800x600 and 640x480. Can anyone help me get a resolution of 1600x900? I'll be more than happy to provide additional information if needed. Thanks.
  6. I can answer a couple 1. Yes, do a search, there's a guide out there. 2. If you can do wireless/wired tethering with it, then yes. 3. Yes. A battery holder and soldering will be required. 7. Digininja or Mr-Protocol (Sorry guys XD)

  8. EDIT: Looks like I had some corrupted wireless profile settings in windows. I cleared them out and now I have no problems. Sorry!
  9. Well, I followed Darren's guide on 4x05. I'm a little confused. So every time I want to connect to it wirelessly I'll have to connect the ethernet first? Or is there a way to have it start up with wifi enabled? I've been stuck on this for hours so a little point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: I figured I'd add that the ssid brodcasts but I can't connect to it (wirelessly) unless I pop in the ethernet first, here's a picture of my wifi page in x-wrt
  10. I set up my fon back in 2008, forgot about it after a couple months and now I recently picked it back up. I've always used it with an ethernet cable and ICS with no problems, but now I'm thinking about getting another wireless card and equipping the fon with a battery. I don't have my second wireless nic yet, but I noticed that unless I connect the fon to my ethernet port first, I can't get on the wireless. Is this because by connecting it through my ethernet port ICS is assigning it an ip? If so, when I get my second wireless nic, I suppose I'll have to connect to an AP with ICS on before I can connect to the pineapple? If I'm missing something here, please tell me. Thanks.
  11. You can use the pineapple, just connect one computer to the mifi, connect the pineapple via ethernet and do ICS (if you're on windows)... Then just have the rest of the computers connect to the pineapple's wireless AP. I'm sure there are other ways, just what came to my head when I thought about it.
  12. I couldn't find anything on it, what's it matter? I can start and stop the services as long as I have this batch file running.
  13. Unfortunately doing the above did not fix it. I'm not quite sure what caused this problem, but I suppose the batch file will do for now. Thanks for the effort.
  14. Well, I was having trouble getting the Secure Socket Tunneling Service start, so I did some googling around and someone suggested deleting those files. Once I did, upon reboot it worked. If I reboot again without touching the files, the services won't start. I personally didn't think deleting logfiles would work as well, but they sure did. I'm just trying to find a way to prevent having to delete them all the time, perhaps a batch file? I don't know. EDIT: I created a batch file to have windows delete those files at start up, and everything seems to work now. Weird I tell ya.
