  2. Either set up a router with controlling capabilities or cut the CAT cable to the computer. I did both. :) http://www.dd-wrt.com
  3. For some older Routers you may actually need the right cable. So make sure you use a Cross-Over cable from the router to the computer.
  4. Yeah.. I'll probably look around Eba, I just don't want to get screwed over again... lol Thanks for the help, it pointed me in a better direction. :)

  6. I don't want to spend over $200.... Sooo i really don't know much as for what you get for what you pay. I'd like to learn how to set up DMZ, and how to block DoS attacks, and how packet filtering works. If that helps.
  7. I'm looking for suggestions for a decent physical fire wall that is semi cheap. I want to pretty much just have it so I can set it up and learn how to exploit it. So far I've come across is the Netgear prosafe VPN firewall 8 with 4 port switch. (FVS114) And a Linksys Ethernet fast Firewall router (BEFSX41). The linksys one really doesn't seem much of a firewall to me though. So, I guess and suggestions or past experiences would be really helpful.
  8. Well it turns out my bios dose have legacy support, it was just hidden under 3 sub subcategory's... So it works now thank you very much for that now all I need is to find out why my second hard drive isnt showing up... lol thanks again.
  9. Hmmmmm ok well thanks, I think ill just mess around with the bios for a while and hopefully get it to work. Thanks for the help.
  10. I see, well now I know, but my PS2 ports don't work.... lol.... I looked in the bios and what not as well and didn't find a thing..
  11. Really? From what I've herd ps2 is slower, and a lot of people have said that...
  12. well i want as little delay as possible since i use windows to play games the more delay the more i suck :(.... but who knows I'll try the ps2 idea and if it works then it works and whatever. lol
  13. Yeah but ps2 is slower... And I already have the usb to ps2 lol... but ill try that i suppose..
  14. So i tried looking for that setting or anything close to it, and found nothing...
  15. yeah its an Saitek Eclipse USB keyboard. I'll try what u said in a few minutes.
  16. I looked through the forums and couldn't find anything about it so I hope this is in the right section, should be. The other day, I installed Ubuntu 7.04 on a hard drive that I reformatted and partitioned to fat32. Everything works, I have windows and Ubuntu. Grub loads and everything, but my keyboard dose not respond in grub, so I'm stuck loading Ubuntu and can never load any of my other OS's. I was thinking that maybe I need to install the keyboard driver into the grub loader (if that's even possible) The keyboard responds during start up bios, but then when grub appears it just turns off and i have to wait for the timer to expire and load Ubuntu then my keyboard turns back on when Ubuntu starts to load.. Has any one else herd of this happening or anything would be really helpful thanks.
  17. Sounds fun :) and if u put restrictions on it, hell just put some links to like some simple how-to's or w/e. Isn't it a good idea to increase your knowledge base anyways? :)
  18. can Compuserve do that??? lol and wooooo 2 page forum topic....
  19. Meh he thinks Windows defender will fix it... Sooo whatever, I just laughed at him when he said Microsoft makes everything you could ever need. Soooo Its his own problem, if he dosen't want my 13 or so years of experience with computers then, he can spam all he wants with his dial-up computer. And most manufactured computers that u buy for around oh say $2k don't come with any recovery disks, installers, or OS's...
  20. Not my dad, friend, and her dad... He already said that he doesn't like me playing on they're computer because I have a different operating system.... So thats y I was wondering if deleting those registrys would be fine.... I have my own OS installer disks.... the dad just thinks he knows everything...
  21. Yeah.... I know.... but the father, thinks he knows everything.... and won't let me, even if I could.... the computer is a windows XP home edition 2002... from dell. I doubt they'd have the CD to reinstall it.
  22. One of my friends has recently been infected by Spy sheriff. I was wondering if anyone has encountered this virus before. I've looked around a lot, but because it says to use regedit, I'm kinda scared. I don't want to do anything I shouldn't. So any help would be great. Thanks. Some things that I've found that are said to be removed are: SOFTWAREspysheriff SOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionuninstallspysheriffHKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWA REMICROSOFTWINDOWSCURRENT VERSIONPOLICIESSYSTEM HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMICROSOFTWINDOWSCURRENT VERSIONTHEMES Thanks again.
  23. I feel kinda stupid for asking this but, can u just burn the ISO to a CD? or do u need any certain program to burn it? Like Nero or something different...
  24. I'll try those, I think that when I tried to download Debian tho, it was to hard to figure out how to download it ( I'm not good with the whole directory downloading type of thing... :(
