  1. Also... OT, I know, but curious what your Ubuntu experience is like coming from M$.
  2. I'd def agree with stringwray, VMWare is *much* easier to use for a normal end user. I don't have a PSP so I can't comment how if this is even possible to get working or not. Bochs is more of a coder-oriented virtualization platform.... the only people I know who use it regularly anymore are OS developers since it's debugging features are great.
  3. I'd stay away from VB.... yes it has it's perks, but if you're serious about coding you'll quickly outgrow the language and get frusterated with it. If you want a serious language, I'd recommend Java. The object-oriented structure is pretty easy to pickup (given you have a talent with computers and thinking analytically), plus it'd be a lot easier to pickup C++ if you so desire down the road.
  4. It all depends what kind of apps your writing... just something with a simple GUI? Java would work well... if you know Python and/or C/C++ and like to learn another API, I'd recommend GTK/QT as Cooper as suggested. Java's your best bet if you want cross-platform compatiblity though.
  5. Yeah, I remember when this was first released.... my friend gave me an "emergency" call when he saw the post on Slashdot. I almost cried from laughing so hard at some of those comments.
