  1. In the right lower corner you find a icon with a screen click on it and you can choose the right resolution. http://img156.imageshack.us/i/screenkoo.png/ Also you need to install the right videocard drivers if none are installed it uses vesa video drivers and you can not choose a normal resolution.
  2. You can also use flash memory its much cheaper than mirrored disks http://www.transcendusa.com/products/ModDetail.asp?ModNo=26 if uptime is important and its cheaper than a hardisk. You need at least 2 network cards the most cheap 1u servers on ebay don't got it. There are also motherboards made for firewals and there are nice cases for it on http://m0n0.ch/wall/hardware.php you can find more information . What also could do the trick and is a lot cheaper is a router with costum firmware like dd-wrt or openwrt you can set up routing and it works with vlans and got lots of more functions but it don't have firewall rules en IDS / IPS functionality like a firewall distro. As firewall distro i got a great experience with pFsense and at home i have a router with dd-wrt that works great and is performing very well.
  3. I am looking for a affordable online backup solution for my debian 5 linux server. Does someone now a service that i could try out where is no GUI required ?
  4. I use a atom based system for my homeserver with ubuntu server on it.It runs fine with apache on it , other things i use it for are file sharing and i run a torrent client with a webinterface on my home server. The system will cost around 200 dollars (motherboard, memory, hardisk, case, psu). It makes almost no noise i got one 40 mm fan in my case. You could run it fanless but with a litle fan is better for cooling and it makes almost no noise my hardisk makes more noise than the fan. Specs of the machine are: Motherboard: Intel Desktop Board D525MW Innovation Series (fanless) CPU: Intel Atom D525 1.8 Ghz dual core Memory: 2 GB DDR3 PSU: PicoPsu 65 watt Hardisk: 320 GB laptop hardisk (2.5 inch) As os i think debian or ubuntu server are the best choice (they are almost the same ubuntu is based on debian), CentOS also is realy nice i realy like the way how to manage it and the documentation and support on there site is great only downside is that there is less software and older versions of the available software in the repository's(this makes it more secure). I heard it uses a bit more resources from your system don't know if thats true i never instaled it on my homeserver only used it for a school project.
  5. What you can try is just add a connecten to a hidden AP and it must be unencrypted. Just pick a name. So you know for sure its asking for a network and if its conencting karma is working fine. It could be the networks are not set to auto connect or have security set ( the pinaple does not pickup clients that are expecting security like WEP , WPA, WPA2. I have no idea how to fix it and what could be wrong with a new pineaple maby a reflash would help. A hardware problem would be strange since its working fine as a normal AP like you said. I also don't know how its configured with a standaard pinaple since i did instal it on a normal fon router i got off ebay. And follewed the tutorial on the forum.
  6. Thanks for the advise maybe it works if its on another port only i have no idea where i can change that. I needed webif to setup a network with encryption to try it out at some places ( friends , family ) just for fun. But with commenting out and rebooting i could set it up anyway. When I tried to the web page local ( without a web server) i did get that message and there where no plugins for firefox. I don't know if it works on a web-server normally no idea, with IE 8 no problems, local only a active-x warning. JP player is playing it automatic without warnings on IE and most people i know are still using IE. But only if its on the jasagar or on a normal web-server it works since local flash is disabled.
  7. thanks for the guide i had really fun with trying this out :D, I ran into some problems tough maybe someone could use this. I could not login on the webif page This is easily solvable by commenting out the line added to /etc/init.d/httpd and reboot the pineapple and when the settings are right just uncomment it and reboot again. Plug-in required with Firefox for playing the music I replaced the player with JP player. Its really easy to use just edit the readme page provided with the JP player download and replace the movie with the rickroll mp3, add &autoplay behind the filename in the script And change the size of the player a bit.
  8. Thanks for this great guide , i followed it and it works great now.
  9. I'm interested in Jasager and would like to know if it can pick up clients that are looking for a network with WPA / WPA2 encryption or does Jasagar only work with networks with no security ?
