  1. It looks like I need to perform this operation as well. I was messing around alot with flashing the pinapples in this thread(http://forums.hak5.o..._20#entry208598) Depending on the response, I'll do this live on a Google Hangout. I think I have a decent enough quality camera for this. Edit: I went cheap on the shipping so estimated delivery date is Sept. 12-25. Will post an update then.
  2. Hey sorry I haven't responded. I don't get enough "me time" to tinker with this thing. Since my last post, I see that these modules are now integrated, which is cool. I went ahead and upgraded, and as before, tethering worked like a charm out of the box, but as before, after a reboot, it won't recognize it anymore. I had said reboot with ssh. I tried power cycling(now with the 2.6.1 release) am getting the same result. Works directly after flash, but nothing more. I don't understand it.
  3. I just checked with my device. As far as the directions on that post you read, it seems like they have already been integrated into the newest release. I'm going to assume that you can get a connection if you tether to another device with your droid. Right??? Yes the pineapple should be having 2 ip addresses. One is for it as an AP(172.16.42.1) as well as a managed client, which is recieved by the droid. (Seems like droid provides an IP of 192.168.114 to the pineapple) please post results of: ifconfig -a from the pineapple. it might just be a routing issue, so please also post route -n
  4. I have a rooted Samgsung galaxy s2 (Model: SGH-i777) and followed the directions, and it worked perfectly. However when I rebooted the pineapple, at the last step it would stop recognizing the phone as usb0. I have verified that this is reproducible. I flashed the entire pineapple with the latest update again, and got the exact same results. I'm haven't tried writing a script that'll uninstalling and reinstalling those packages to see if I can get it working with some sort of automaticity, but I will post the results when I do this. See if this is the issue for you as well.
  5. Okay. I have successfully updated to 2.0.0. I would have ran that command but I just wanna be cautious. Thank you sir. :)
  6. Okay so I just downloaded it from http://cloud.wifipineapple.com/mk4/downloads.php?download. generated and matched the md5sums. But when I upload it to the pineapple I get: Error (1), please check the file you specified The md5sum matches when I check manually 319d30f8fbb31d6ee7d9cec25bd7f23f I'm considering issuing the following: sysupgrade -n upgrade.bin I don't think I'm going completely crazy, but please talk sense into me if I am.
  7. Thanks. I did actually look there, but I only looked for a new post at the bottom. I'll just use the link they already had setup :P in the very first post. (I'm assuming that's the link they updated)
  8. I get an error from this link? Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 404 NOT FOUND in /www/pineapple/upgrade.php on line 54 Warning: file_get_contents(http://wifipineapple.com/downloads.php?currentVersion) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: Address family not supported by protocol in /www/pineapple/upgrade.php on line 54 No upgrade found I went to that file:54 and retrieved the following link which is indeed broken http://wifipineapple.com/downloads.php?currentVersion I only ask because I could have sworn I heard Darren talk about there being an update with the new kernel on the last hak5 (episode 1112). FYI I'm at Firmware version: 1.1.1
  9. Nope. I just tried that and it did not work. I also tried this touch /tmp/wpsButtonPressed and there was no such file. I have no idea why this wouldn't work. I haven't done anything too crazy with the pineapple(besides editing the contents of /tmp and /www/) I have no idea what to do..
  10. I have had my pineapple for a little bit now, and I never really used the WPS button for anything. Now I actually want to start using it, so I threw up a little test script that will start dns spoofing as such: php /www/pineapple/dnsspoof/startdnsspoof.php Anyways, I pushed and held the button for a couple of seconds, and it does not seem to be running the user-defined script? Is it working for you guys? I'm worried I may have a hardware issue.
  11. This is a question that I have as well. For example I have a rooted Samgsung galaxy s2 and I can set it up to tether from a wireless network, or from 4G, thus removing the need to purchase a dongle. I just started messing with it today, but the only thing I feel confident in doing right now is a few of the non-persisting networking commands. Haven't got it working yet. It would be nice if I could use DHCP :/
  12. Take a look at the script and fill the variables in manually. Then you can add it to your update.rc to have it automatically run at boot. Then again, it might only work on while you're computer is on that network.
  13. I haven't seen anything about this yet, but I just wanted to know if there is anything that'll capture the wifi network credentials. Are they encrypted? We're already the man-in-the-middle, so would this be difficult?
  14. Lol you actually are. That was my hometown area code. I no longer live there but thats what that was about. I guess you could say its promotion, but its not like I'm trying to make money off this, and I'm seeing if I could contribute to FOSS in this way. Either way i was hoping this wouldn't be a thread about your suspicion of this being spam. I've watched hak5 for a while, but never make a forumn acccount. So I what do you guys think about the site? Let me know!
  15. Hello guys. I've been interested in this whole community side of technology. Ever since I started watching hak5 a while ago I thought that basically Darren has like the sweetest gig ever! I was interested in creating my own blog. What'd I'd like to do is set my own server with wordpress or something, but for now I set something up with blogger, the Google blogging service Blogspot, just to kindof test the waters and see if this is really something I'd like to do. It's not a very mature by any means, but I've been doing various technical things for a while(probably like most of you) and would be interested in sharing. I don't mean for this to sound like any kind of spam, but if you guys are interested, heres my link. I do have some content up so far so let me know what you guys think! http://jonathanfrias718.blogspot.com/ I'd like to have some feedback. Regards, Jonathan Frias
