  1. The SSD in your net book should just be SATA if you pop the side of your case open you should be able use a normal SATA cable.

If you built your own system check your mobo box as they normaly come with 2.

Sorry for the long delay without a reply but I recently moved and it took a while to find out who provides internet way out here in the woods lol.

I looked at my SSD and it actually looks like it's connector is that of a pci express and that's no good for me because I don't have any computers other than that one that has such a slot :( I can provide a pic if you think that would help any.

  2. Digip it's cool I made an even bigger snafu then that lol. I just realized while doin a search for somethin else that i somehow set my google searches to default to news results. :( I have a pinout that shoud work. I'm going to try it out in the next couple days. Thanks for helpin though. Now I just have to figure out how to interface it with a DVI or VGA port. here's the pinout if it helps you any.

    Pin 1 ML_Lane 0 (p) Lane 0 (positive)

    Pin 2 GND Ground

    Pin 3 ML_Lane 0 (n) Lane 0 (negative)

    Pin 4 ML_Lane 1 (p) Lane 1 (positive)

    Pin 5 GND Ground

    Pin 6 ML_Lane 1 (n) Lane 1 (negative)

    Pin 7 ML_Lane 2 (p) Lane 2 (positive)

    Pin 8 GND Ground

    Pin 9 ML_Lane 2 (n) Lane 2 (negative)

    Pin 10 ML_Lane 3 (p) Lane 3 (positive)

    Pin 11 GND Ground

    Pin 12 ML_Lane 3 (n) Lane 3 (negative)

    Pin 13 CONFIG1 connected to Ground1)

    Pin 14 CONFIG2 connected to Ground1)

Pin 15 AUX CH (p) Auxiliary Channel (positive)

    Pin 16 GND Ground

Pin 17 AUX CH (n) Auxiliary Channel (negative)

Pin 18 Hot Plug Hot Plug Detect

Pin 19 Return Return for Power

    Pin 20 DP_PWR Power for connector (3.3 V 500 mA)

  3. I did some more searching with different numbers on the boards and finally found some info. There's a little problem though. All the links I found said that my LCD (LP125W02-A1) has the same pinout as another one so I looked at the other one listed and it shows that its supposed to have a 21 pin connection but mine only has 20 pins. attached is a pic of it which you'll noticed I mentioned the wrong colors earlier (dk what i was thinkin lol). Any ideas what I should do next?post-23239-0-52057300-1297649573_thumb.j

  4. All but two wires are the same color (an orange color) and the other two are a blue. I have the LCD completely remove from the old laptop but I didn't throw anything away so that i can salvage more later if I'm able. I left the connector on the end of the cable that goes to the laptop mobo cause of how thin the wires are.

  5. I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong places or if I'm using the wrong search terms but I cannot seem to find the pinouts for the LCD from a Powerbook Pro 15in. I was hoping to reuse this screen without the busted laptop but I am a little uneasy about testing each wire individually applying power and signal until i find the right combination. If anyone can help me at least get started I would greatly appreciate it.

  6. Quick question, does anyone know where i can find an adapter to plug in my ssd from a netbook to my desktop so that i can save the files before i reformat and install a new system? I'm getting my netbook ready to go into my case for my carputer but before i put it in there and close it up i want to have this done.

  7. I did one about 6 yrs ago and mp3car.com was a great place to start

i just recently went back to that site to check things out

it's crazy how much better the equipment has gotten since then

this is my old car setup, I since sold the car and im waiting to buy a new car this year to make my new project car

    http://www.whatsmypass.com/carputer/

Did you have a GPS unit setup with yours? I'm looking at doing that with mine when i get the time and money. I was planning on gettin a usb one like the bu-353 or the nd-100 from US Global Sat INC. I don't know how well it'll work with the system I plan to use but surely i'll manage to find a use for it if not lol

  8. Recently conceived an idea for a car computing system. Not sure where to get started. I'm thinking wireless access with a light load Linux to do some war driving. Its a DSM so its pretty small, plus i can GTFO need be. Any thoughts?

I would suggest takin a look at mp3car.com. They have several things of interest there.

I plan on starting a project like this one day soon. I was planning on puttin a linux system on an SSD drive and using a netbook for most all the part. my plan is to take the screen off and put a touchsceen panel on it with a custom bezel to match the car interior. I'm goin to mount the motherboard in a custom case with plenty of ventilation and mount it behind the dash under the radio. I can go on but I'll quit for now lol. Let me know if you'd like to hear more.

  9. Hey guys,

I'm planning to set up a little serverrack at my home.

So I'm looking around for some old hardware to have some fun with.

Then I can backup data, host some services at home, etc ...

Does any body know where I could find used hardware ?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Kind regards,

    Niels

I would suggest contactin some of the local businesses and colleges. I was collecting several computers from local colleges simply by calling them and seeing if they had any old hardware they were gettin rid of and found one that gave me 6 computers at one time. Most were older than dirt lol, one was actually a pentium 100 and in a configuration that id never seen before but it worked for what i wanted it to. Just a note though some places will not have anythin to give away because they can donate it and get tax benefits but don't give up after the first few say they cant help you.

I love this x942. I think I'm gonna set somethin up like this on my router :)

  11. I'd love to, but I dont seem to find a clear guide.

can you please show me a link to a guide, and form the files to download, it will be a huge help!!:)

Forgive me if i seem a bit rude but half of hacking is learning. all the tools and knowledge you need is here and here. If you need a step by step hand holding session to get you through the setup of the USB Hacksaw then you really don't need to be messing with it.

  12. I realize that it would be awesome to do this whole dvd thing, but you know as well as I do, not even after one person gets a set. Someone will be downloading from thepiratebay.. haha.. shit happens tho.

Why download it from the piratebay when you can download all the episodes here for free already?

  13. We're actually in the process of adding a DVD section to our hak5.org/store. We'll be selling all the seasons on DVD plus special features like never before seen bloopers, unaired segments, etc. And we're planning on making them a very reasonable price!

    That'll be great Snubs! Thanks!

  14. I recently found a small electronic device and went to look it up on the FCC database like I've done so many things before but I cannot find the website anymore. If anyone can give me ideas of where to do a search for the FCC id I would greatly appreciate it.

  15. I still haven't heard from anyone that's willing to send me some DVDs. For now if anyone is willin just send me a PM with ho much you wanna charge me for the DVDs and how much shipping will cost.

  16. I live in Canada so I am going to assume it will be close to the same which is kind of stupid because if you hack into a computer and get infected the owner doesn't get arrested but the person who hacked in does... so shouldn't it be the same? He has no right to be there and as such no right to expect to not be hit with something on a foreign network. Ah well I will go the legal route then. As for The other reply when i mean old i mean OLD this thing is running some odd chipset that doesn't seem to exist any more and checking for alternate FW yields no results sadly. Any other options? Maybe set-up some kind of Deauth so only my Set-top box can connect to that AP but that would be just as good as mac filtering... I have captured allot of packets and it seems all he does is browse facebook and upadate metasploit before more IDS goes crazy detecting attacks. For now I put it behind a switch in hopes that he can't access anything of value. I also setup a Shell script to change the WEP Key randomly at random times using the website front end. It then emails me the new key. Hopefully this will confuse him for now. I am considering turning my smart phone into a hotspot when ever I want to use internet on the set-top box that way it is only good for about 50 ft or so...

Anyone have experience hacking cable box's? I read somewhere (will post link) that Shaw "locks down" WPA functionality of the wifi card through software means. Everywhere I find is out-of-date and wont work for me sadly.

You say this guy is messing with his facebook so I'd have fun with that. I'd change his FB password everyday or two just to piss him off and make sure to change his status a few times putting up some kind of really ridiculous shit that don't make any sense. Eventually he might figure out what's going on and leave you alone. But of course none of what i said is legal and probably should not be done.

  17. I believe in the freedom of speech and the freedom of information and all that but I would like to warn everyone that I have been told that the US government is tracking all the visitors to the wikileaks site. As best they can that is lol. I don't know what all is on that site yet as I have yet to find a computer that I don't have issues with the fed watching. As i said I'm just givin this as a warning for those who are interested in looking.
