    Network Hack

nobody is going to answer such a broad question like this. Do you watch the show? There is a wealth of information in video form (for us visual/auditory learners) I don't mean to be rude but try learning on your own then ask a more specific question when you need help. DIY MAN !
  2. Hey thanks for the reply. I am actually using a lab computer to play with net view.. so I am authenticated to the domain (haven't tried with my laptop..yet) .. hey do you know if its possible to find out how many vlans there are? Also isn't it kinda of weird that one lab on the third floor and half the data-center on the first floor AND a couple computers in a different building are on the same vlan ? or is that just sloppy networking?
  3. So the net view (or net and all its variants) command is nothing new to windows users. I've used it many times in the past and just recently used it at my college to see whats up. Now not all the computers on the college's domain were listed but among the 100+ I can view there are over 30 servers in the schools data-center listed and conveniently named I mite add. Such-as domain-controller 1, 2 ,3,4 etc.. as-well as many other test and production servers.. Does anyone know why I am able to see only a few computers on a network of 800+?
  4. Interesting.. glad to see you were able to figure it out. I read that link to Ubuntu help as-well .. good info
  5. I have no experience with doing this with BT but alternatively you could always install on an old USB or run in a VM like I do.. on a side note how did you setup your PXE server? (whats it running, etc) .. thanks
  6. @OP if your looking for a program like wireshark or tcpdump then you must check out shark for root.. it's freaking awesome for a mobile app.. you can view your caps with their native reader or simply import them into wireshark or w.e you use
  7. Your Absolutely Right! I've been on irongeek all week watching videos from derbycon. @OP there's actually a good talk on Red Teaming by Raphael Mudge (creator of Armitage) he talks all about the Collegiate Cyber Defense competition
  8. Once I was working on this guys PC backing up his data, I found some naked photos (actually about a dozen) .. its was pretty funny until I realized they were of his daughter lol then it was reallly funny
  9. Actually Proxmox is a hell of a lot better then VMware's free ESXi distro. ESXi is a tease. Proxmox is capable of clustering and LIVE MIGRATION(extremely cool) .. To get these features on ESXi you need to license another server to manage your ESXi cluster and that will run you thousands of dollars. While I do believe ESXi is a good hyper-visor, it doesn't compare to Proxmox allowing me to do things in my garage that would never be financially possible with VMware. Thank You Proxmox and thank you Darren for spreading the word
  10. Yea I love the zine ... prob just going to keep on downloading it .. but need a better eReader to view them on.. idk we'll see how eBay treats me this week
  11. Hi All, I began reading Hackin9 Magazine ever since Shannon mentioned it on a show a while back.I would love to subscribe and get physical copies of this mag but don't see anywhere on their site to subscribe, just looks like free zines for dl.. I have a sony PRS-300 but it sucks to read this mag on.. (thinking about getting a nook .. anyways does anyone actually subscribe and get this mag physically in the mail? Or does anyone know of a good cheap ereader that does mags like this good?
  12. I am also in the same situation with trying to build an esxi server for my own personal lab/home use. I work with vmware and want a esxi box at home. I know HW compatibility is a real pain.. thats why I use VM-Help for info ..great resource.. and it seems like most mobos either have a problem with nics or Disk controllers...The free esxi OS isn't exactly lacking in any additional features. When you get a license for Vcenter server then you can really use the neat features with more than one esxi host such as clustering, vmotion, HA , etc..(wish it were free). If I didn't have to install esxi at home for the knowledge, I would totally use proxmox.. infact I plan on having another hdd with proxmox on it for when I want to play with it..until I have money for more than one 64bit virtualization DT .. I'm stuck with the esxi box.. let me us know what HW you go with ..good luck
  13. Nice ... thanks for the tip. The reviews say it all.. I've know basic , html, intermediate perl and bash scripting .. this is just the book Ive been looking for Thanks
