  1. hey guys, i have downloaded the new version of backtrack 5 and i found that at first airdrop wasn't working (refer to one of my earlier posts) and couldn't get it working so i reinstalled backtrack 5 on my laptop. The specs are as follows - msi cr630 laptop with 64 bit windows 7 dual booted with backtrack 5 64 bit kde airdrop is working since the reinstallment but i am having trouble with the airpwn part. i followed several tutorials oline especially those by Tim Ashley but everytime i try to start up airpwn1.4 i get the following message: airpwn: error while loading shared libraries: libpython2.4.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I really hope that some of you guys will be able to find a solution to this puzzling problem, it has been driving my crazy for three days. All replies will be greatly appreciated.
  2. Yes thats true, but since i installed the kde 64 version of backtrack 5 on my new laptop airdrop-ng wont load, it just keeps saying: File "/usr/bin/airdrop-ng", line 799 class getTargets(): ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax everytime i try and stat it. So i uninstalled it and reinstalled it just to double check and still the problem persists
  3. I have backtrack 5 and i installed airdrop-ng like i have many times before, and there was no problem at all. Then when i came to start airdrop-ng i was greeted by the following message: File "/usr/bin/airdrop-ng", line 799 class getTargets(): ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax Does anyone have any idea whats going on and maybe a solution to the problem. I have looked all over the internet and theses forums but have not found the answer so i hope that someone here can help, thanks
  4. Can you install and run airpwn 1.4 on 64 bit systems? would there be any difference?
  5. you have to share a pic, that sounds awesome dude
  6. So basically i DON'T have to be connected to the network but i DO have to be in range of the AP and the clients to deauth them, is that right? Have i understood it correctly?
  7. Ok i recieved my wifi pineapple in the post and everything works like it should and i was looking at the forums on here and the videos related to it and something caught my eye during darrens wifi challege at the airport. When you recieve the pineapple and battery pack the wires stick out everywhere and not so neat but when i saw his it was all neat and tidy, i want to know where he managed to hide his wires to make it more presentable. If any of you have recieved wifi pineapples then you will know what i mean when i say that the wires are fragile and want them out of the way. Does anyone know how darren has managed to do this, it would make things abit more easier? Thanks
  8. the m option cancels all traffic continuously from the target address, but since i'm not actually connected to the network because i'm using my mon0 interface should it still work or like the earlier replies that say i have to at least be in range of the target network for anything to take effect?
  9. If i use my routers mac address but not connected to it, would it still work because like you said i am using mon0 is the monitor interface so i would assume that i don't need to be connected to my router to kick people off it - do i understand it right? So i could still kick people off my router even though i am at my girlfriends house?
  10. When i was at my girlfriends house i tried mdk3 with mdk3 mon0 m -t "her routers mac address" (She knew what i was doing and i had full permission even before attempting this) It worked and it kicked everything off the router - her desktop pc, her xbox 360 and her ipod all of which were wirelessly connected to the router. When it kicked everyone off i stopped it, am not malicious i just wanted to see if it worked and when it did i stopped straight away. I was also connected to her router through backtrack 5 while doing this so more than likely it kicked me off too but i didnt notice because i was not using any web browsers or anything. Now my question is that if i have MY OWN routers mac address and i leave to stay at my girlfriends again and preform the attack at hers again but this time instead of putting in her routers mac address i put in my own in, would it have the same effect and kick everyone off my routers network even though i am NOT connected to my home network because i am not there but would it still work?
  11. Hey guys, just a quick noob question: I know there has been a lot of tutorials about mdk3 and I tested it out on my own network and everything works fine when I am connected to my router. I have two computers a laptop and a desktop. On the laptop I used mdk3 in backtrack 5 and on my desktop I have windows vista which is connected to the internet via my home router and I was able to kick my desktop off the internet very easily proving that the tool does actually work. My question is do you have to be connected to the same network inorder to accomplish this because when I am away I don’t want anyone else from using my stuff and because I will be too far away from my router at home to connect I was wondering if it will have the same effect. Thanks guys, all information is greatly appreciated.
  12. update: I changed all the names so root was not shown and still the problem persisted, until however i reinstalled backtrack 5 and now the problem is gone. Thanks for all the help guys it was really appreciated thankyou.
  13. I recently purchased a wifi pineapple with the jasager software and inorder to get it to work in windows vista I had to bridge the connections between my wired and wireless interfaces which was easily done. My set up is two computers, both dual booted with windows vista and backtrack 5. I have my own home router and now the pineapple. On one computer I load up windows and connect it through wireless to my home network, the I plug jasager in with my Ethernet cable and bridge the connections so I can use internet on jasager from my other computer. This works great I can connect and surf the web when the other computer is connected to the pineapple but my question is how can I make it work in backtrack 5? Thanks, all answers will be greatly appreciated.
  14. Everytime i try to connect to the hak5 irc i get told i am banned even though i have never connected before. Does anyone have any ideas what could be going wrong here? All help is greatly appreciated, thank you.
  15. i have it set up so i boot into a shell then after logging in i use startx. i have no problem with anything else its just when i log out or shutdown that i get a black screen with white lines going up and down
  16. it starts when ever i try and shutdown or even restart. i try to install the driver that i believe would help but inorder to install it i need to stop X but it wont let let for some reason. I update and dist-upgrade regular but its always when i shutdown or reboot. The login screen is perfect - its just the leaving screen when i try to logoff or reboot. I did search the forums and the internet for a solution which is how i downloaded the driver i needed and all of them say i need to stop x inorder to install it but i use the commands given on the website to stop x wont work
  17. I have an e.system 4213 laptop with windows vista. I installed backtrack 5 via dual boot and when i log off or shutdown backtrack all i get is a blank screen or a different coloured screen (sometimes its blue) with white lines all over the place and nothing else. I looked online and i believe it turns out that i was missing a sis mirage 3 graphics driver like the type i use in my windows section. I have downloaded the drivers but i am stuck as how to install the drivers in linux. The first part of the process to install the drivers is to stop X so i enter some commands to stop X and all i get back is that it can't be done. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also in backtrack 5 my firefox is way too big for my screen making it almost impossible to use tools like nessus as some buttons don't even show up even when using "ctrl+ and ctrl -" - suggestions on how to fix this would very much be appreciated.
  18. Does anyone know how to fix: svn: Repository UUID 'c54f1b57-f3df-4c37-b561-881cde1baa19' doesn't match expected UUID '8072406e-18fd-45b5-acae-fc56dbc62dfa' i am using backtrack 4 r2 and when i go to update exploitdb i get that error. i looked everywhere but still dont know what to do. All ideas are definately welcome and appreciated Thanks
  19. I was wondering how you can “hack” or moniter a wireless network when the network in question does not show up on any of the scans, even though you know for a fact its turned on, in use and in perfect working order. I have a dual boot windows/BackTrack 4 laptop and my friend has a usb Vodafone broadband dongle in order to access the internet and when I try to find it in the list of available networks with both my windows side and my backtrack side - the network does not show up. Does any one know a way to get round this? All suggestions are welcome, thank you.
  20. I have BackTrack 4 and i want to use airpwn but i don't know how to edit the configuration files or where to find them for that matter. I have looked online but i can't find any mention of the location of the files Does anyone have any suggestions?
  21. I would like to thank everybody for taking the time to give me there thoughts and suggestions and hopefully i will have it working soon. Thanks everyone i really do appreciate it.
  22. I can't download polipo because of unmet dependancies. I got tor and Privoxy and i was looking online to try and configure them - but there are so many and when one didn't work i tried the next and soon the configuration files are a mess and i think thats why they are not working. Does anyone know how to correct this? All sugestions and advice will be greatly appreciated, thankyou.
  23. What are the usual config settings? becasue i have them all install except for polipo which wont let me download and install because of unmet dependancies
  24. yes everything works with networking and i can use the internet and stuff like that but i can't exactly get the settings right and its not quite working, the same with privoxy. I use apt-get install polipo to try and get that but it wont let me get it - something about unmet dependencies which i don't know how to fix.
  25. hello, i am new to backtrack and i really like it alot. It does everything i need except i am having alittle trouble with somethings and i am hoping somebody here could help me out? The first thing is tor - i cant get it to work properly and it wont let me get polipo. The second thing is privoxy isn't working and am not sure how to get the proxies set up. The third and final thing that i can't get working Nessus 2.2.10 to connect to the localhost and start working. It says that my username needs a password which i enter correctly and it says that it cannot connect. I really hope somebody here can help me with these problems and would appreciate any and all suggestions. Thankyou
