  1. errrm are you trying to install Linux onto your HDD, have you used fdisk (the linux one, not the dos one) to create a linux filesystem. As for live cd's, i've never liked them myself.
  2. I'm actually more interested in your metascript, looks kinda neat. I'm really looking forward to see how you implement user input and variables.
  3. pfft I thought this was about Steve Wozniak.
  4. I once almost bought this for a fiver at some seedy shop, never seen it before or since. http://www.macgamer.com/features/?id=629 sorry i couldn't find a better link. It seams to have faded into obscurity awfully fast.
  5. A waste of disk space if you ask me, i'd rather brute force, but then again i don't have to 'check' many errmm 'hashes'.
  6. I've always found Celeron's to be slow and hot.
  7. pffft... you would've thought here of all places that people would develop cross platform. I am so disillusioned right now.
  8. I think they're kinda pretty. Can't say i noticed any slowdown, but then i was raised on dial up. Wouldn't have one myself though 'cos it'd make me look like a dick who's just started playing with a cracked animation suite.
  9. My god! This post has everything, internet-phobia, problems with the blame and compensation culture and of course the whole "we really shouldn't be there" Iraq issue. what more could you want?
  10. If I remember rightly its illegal to play DVD’s on Linux, I remember years ago trying to track down libdvd (and associated libs the names I can't remember) was the hardest thing...ever. #include <stdio.h> main() { int DRM; int vista; DRM =1; Vista = 1; if(DRM+vista == 2) printf("vista sucks"); else printf("vista still sucks"); //probably wont compile, but who cares. }
  11. yay, police the internet, god bless America and the order of the dollar. Forgive me if I'm wrong but if these torrent are what they say they are, that would be entrapment. if they're not then no copyrights have been infringed. so what is the point?
  12. http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.or...aradiso/alpha1/ kinda neat, though I've had trouble with a couple of sites.
  13. Yeah, I’ve pulled that one, the HDD was well and truly dead and the PSU tripped, but once it had cooled down it booted fine. The only spare disk I had at the time was 240 MB. I just managed to squeeze on win98, then I had to compress the damn thing to fit the drivers on. I had 6 mb of free space left for web browsing. It was loads of fun, it was just after I first got broadband installed.
  14. I love raw HTML, its so fast, but it sure ain't pretty.
  15. I had major problems with ktorrent, it was slow and awkward. Gnome users can use kapps if they install the kdelibs.
  16. i use neither vi nor emacs, i use kwrite 'cos my powers are weak.
  17. Quite right, current is through a wire voltage (potential difference) is across a circuit. How much current are we talking about? if its enough you could coil the wire round a soft iron core and use a magnetic switch to activate (or deactivate) the second circuit...maybe
  18. Its a screenshot.... i don't get it, what am i looking at?
  19. errrm change icon and text sizes, and resize your windows so they are smaller, that way you’ll have all the joy of squinting to see the stuff on the screen. I’m interested in why you want to do this. Since even if it does work it’ll only give you the appearance of a higher res, and’ll probably distort a fair bit.
  20. You immature little man, you mean more FREE porn.
  21. Well there are drivers available, have you tried running the alsa setup program as root? i can't remember the command (alsasetup or alsaconfig, if i remember rightly) it comes with most distros and will setup your sound in seconds. I often find this program works even when my distros setup tool fails, if you don’t have it, download it. (try googling for 'alsatools' or 'alsa')
  22. If anyone still cares, if you install 98 first, xp will detect it and automatically install a boot menu. lets see, its cheap, light and fast. Better DOS compatibility, Better OpenGL rendering and runs alot of the old games/programs that wont run well (or at all) on the NT kernel. I've had alot more problems with 2000/XP then i ever had with win98.
