  1. I saw this on Lifehacker yesterday and I figured there would be a way to build one of these by only using the FON. Would this be possible? http://wiki.daviddarts.com/PirateBox just found this: http://stefans.datenbruch.de/lafonera/ Has anyone tried this? -- Phil
  2. I was wondering if anyone would know any common issues related to setting up a VPN. I have flashed my WRT54GL router using the dd-wrt vpn bin. I have enabled VPN passthrough and setup the VPN under the services tab. I have a custom dns through DynDNS setup in the DDNS tab. Encryption is enabled. I have tried to connect from windows 7, Snow Leopard, my android phone v2.2, and it won't connect. In windows it gives me error 800. I followed the directions on the dd-wrt site, on how to set this up. Anyone know any I can check/do to get this work? Thank you in advance, Phil
  3. Anyone know where I can still get all the Defcon 2010 videos? I have tried their site and their RSS feed to the videos seems to be broken. Thanks, Phil
  4. dunno if this is what you were looking for, or if you had seen this already but here: http://www.hak5.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=17782
  5. over 7300 since 2004... I almost puked when I finished calculating this. I wish there was some type of desktop gadget that would show your total amount spent so you would think twice before buying something. ;) I really don't mind the wait for stuff I order. <rant> I hate shopping at best buy because they always way over price they sell in the store. I always see ethernet cables in there, $25 for 25ft, where if you know about newegg, amazon, monoprice you can get 100ft for 10 bucks. I also hate how the floor sales people are paid on commission, so they always bother you while you're shopping. Just let me get in, get out get on with my life. My other complaint is that usually the people trying to sell you pc's and tv's at best buy usually dont know what they are talking about. Or at least they will try to say anything to get you to buy. </rant> I totally agree, radioshack needs to get back to basics and stop selling sell phones mp3 players and such.
  6. I think what you are looking for is something like this: http://www.jetbrains.com/resharper/ Though its not a general tool. Its for C# and VB.net
  7. @Charles Your method here does work. I used your code below to boot the ubuntu server installer: title Ubuntu Server x86 (Testing) kernel=/ubuntu-10.04.1-server-i386/install/vmlinuz noprompt cdrom-detect/try-usb=true file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-server.seed initrd=/ubuntu-10.04.1-server-i386/install/initrd.gz boot just extract the iso's and put the folders in the root. it should look like this / /menu.lst /ubuntu-10.04.1-server-i386/ ive tested both x86 and x64.
  8. Hey all! I just recently made the switch to Ubuntu and I am lovin' it! Apart from not being able to play BF:BC2 its great. Anyways, I am currently taking a database course through the business school at my university because the CS department did not offer it this semester. My problem is that with this course they want you to use microsoft products including visio and Visual studio. Does anyone have any suggestions for programs compatible with ubuntu that emulate most of the same features of the programs above? The problem is, is that I need to work with 4 other people on this database project that lasts all semester so we need to be able to share code and visio docs. BTW: we are using oracle as are DB server. Right now I am looking at MonoDevelop and Dia as alternatives. Thank you in advance! Phil
