  1. Their personal business is their personal business tbh.
  2. The administrator account is disabled by default in Vista/7, so unless you enabled it, it will still be disabled. What version of Vista were you using, x86 or x64? The free version of KonBoot only works with x86 I believe.
  3. I've got about 6GB of RAM on my main server at home. Each VM is alloted 512 - 1GB, depending on what I am using it for.
  4. Why the hell are you trying to crack an admin password on a supposedly new PC? You set the users when you first boot into Windows.
  5. This. I've been running VMware or VBox on my main server, and virtualize everything else.
  6. This. Windows 7's admin account is disabled by default in new installs. When you first boot up the machine, it'll prompt you to create a user account.
  7. +1 to subsonic. It works great for music.. not sure about video.
  8. Better then nothing. :) Glad you got it working now.
  9. Using onboard RAID, I'm guessing? If you are, then they are only compatible with very similar chipsets (same mobo or you are SOL)
  10. +1. I've not found a use for the multiple workspaces, it's more distracting for me to switch between the two, then hook up another monitor and extend the desktop onto it.
  11. Thanks VaKo, I could have sworn that the two gigabit switches I have had a MAC address, but they don't. I must be thinking of a router or something.
  12. Holy frak. At least they (supposedly) stepped up cybersecurity. Also: Woot Windows! I would have thought they would have at least made it so that unauthorized usb devices couldn't be accessed, let alone have autorun enabled.
  13. Be sure to use WPA2 AES, not TKIP. Hiding yer SSID is pointless, as even a WAP that isn't broadcasting it's SSID is still broadcasting, and is able to be found. Yes, switches have MAC addresses, but they don't get an IP, unless it's a managed switch.
  14. I'd probably get one, if I traveled more.
  15. Problem solved! http://www.amazon.com/Black-Leather-RFID-B...t/dp/B002T9A3FM Or for you Euro peoples. http://www.amazon.co.uk/DataSafe%C2%AE-Ita...3331&sr=8-1
  16. You could even "clone" yer PC's MAC onto the router and do it that way. I don't know if that would work or not, depending on how they plan on enforcing the "5 MACs" rule.
  17. I've had no problems at all with Ophcrack. I even changed the location of the /tables/ directory using the guide here. My menu.lst looks like this: ### OphCrack XP/Vista/7 ### title OphCrack configfile /multipass/ophcrack/ophcrack.lst ophcrack.lst title Ophcrack Graphic mode - automatic kernel /multipass/ophcrack/bzImage rw root=/dev/null vga=normal lang=C kmap=us screen=1024x768x16 autologin initrd=/multipass/ophcrack/rootfs.gz title Ophcrack Graphic mode - manual kernel /multipass/ophcrack/bzImage rw root=/dev/null vga=normal autologin initrd=/multipass/ophcrack/rootfs.gz title Ophcrack Text mode kernel /multipass/ophcrack/bzImage rw root=/dev/null vga=normal screen=text autologin initrd=/multipass/ophcrack/rootfs.gz title Main Menu root (hd0,0) configfile /menu.lst Directory structure: [vista_free] [xp_free_fast] [xp_free_small] bzImage ophcrack.lst rootfs.gz
  18. Nvidia works fine with Intel or AMD processors. Same with ATI. I just like Nvidia better. :P I think there are services that can crack zip passwords, but I don't know how they work exactly.
  19. Heh. I've had no problems with Gmail. I've used a few different ones, but they are almost as bad as the one my ISP gave me.
  20. Ugh @ using ISP mail service.
  21. Don't do it. Legally, it's unauthorized access. Morally, it's being a dumbass and getting "revenge." Just let the lawyers know that the Wife broke into his email account and let them handle it.
  22. Hopefully it'll help point out some flaws, and perhaps find countermeasures. I wonder if some Linux zealots will turn this into yet another point against MS.
  23. I've got an 80GB IDE drive that's already been DBAN'd. It's missing the labels and junk, but it's good to go. No clue on price I'll post a pic and model and whatnot when I get home. EDIT: Here's a picture. It's a seagate, I'll have to hook it up to get the model. =/
