MIMO- I understand, for some reason I was under the impression that the standard jumped frequencies, as in they used radios in the 2.4ghz band and the 5 ghz band while transferring files. It seems i might get the longer range 2.4 Ghz version instead of the dual band, as it seems to me that range would be more beneficial than the ability to deauth 5 ghz networks as there are very few of those I presume. Ok, thanks a lot. Though this does bring up more questions not related to the subject. 1. MIMO- I was under the understanding that MIMO allowed the devices to connect in 2.4 and 5GHZ bands in order to transfer files quickly. If that is the case, how do the radios work on both bands at the same time? 2. Does this limitation only apply to packet injections? I assume that when the card it connected, it is able to detect 2.4 and 5 Ghz networks, and if that is the case, will it be able o monitor both at the same time? A bit more unrelated- Do I take the mw ratings on the alfas seriously. I mean, I would assume that a network card with 2 watt power is more powerful than a 500 mw power one, or am I just wrong in making tat assumption. I read somewhere that the power rating that they are reporting is not exactly accurate in that they use bigger antennas to produce those ratings. Thanks for the advice. I was under the impression that the 2.4 and 5.8 ghz bands worked on different radios, therefore if I was working with 2.4ghz network I would be using a different radio, and therefore would not need different adapters. I guess is what I am asking is there a way to access each of the radios individually? FYI: The model I am thinking of getting- http://www.data-alliance.net/-strse-229/Alfa-500mW-802.11n-USB/Detail.bok The Alfa AWUS051NH I read it had good packet injection rates as well as it can operate in AP mode as well. Hello, I was wondering, is it possible to de-auth a 5.8 Ghz connection using an adapter using 2.4 Ghz? I don't know if routers use different tables for different frequencies or not. Specifically, I am buying an adapter specifically for aircrack and need to know if it is worth it to get an adapter that supports 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz connections. I would be sacrificing range if I get the 5 Ghz compatible adapter. Thanks, moyam01

Sorry for reviving this old thing, but I went through all of the episodes, and it is in episode 412 (12min 24 sec), session hijacking, where darren takes his phone and uses it as a source of internet for jasager. How do I do that in Linux? I tried the GUI share, but there is no shared option for the tethered connection. Will try the iptables suggestion, just wanted to be more specific as to what I wanted if it would help anyone.

The OS is Debian Linux (Ubuntu for right now). The goal is to be able to share the internet connection with wired and wireless devices. If I use my WRT54g, I can hook up my wired and wireless devices. The problem I am facing is trying to share the internet on my tethered device. I know you have to modify the ip routing tables so that all traffic that is requested through my NIC goes to the tethered device, but an not clear on what it is exactly that I have to do. If any of you have tried this and can point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks, moyam01

I don't remember exactly which episode i saw darren tether his phone (i think it was his old treo) to a computer and then hook up a router to his laptop's lan port, and was able to share his internet that way. If someone could point me in the direction of the episodes or the necessary commands that would be great.

I remember being a kid and wanting more than anything one of those orange phones that techs carried around to test POTS systems (what were those called again). So in 2011, what is the stuff composing a phone technicians toolkit. I tried on-line but had no luck.

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, but I did not post this in the Jasager or Interceptor question because this is not a hack related question. I was interested in getting a Fon 2.0g, which still has the Atheros chipset, and adapting Jasager to write packets onto a USB stick rather than stream it over Wifi. However, Fon seems not to be selling the Fon 2.0g in the US for reasons that escape me. I have emailed them, only to be told that they weren't willing to sell it to me. So who has been successful in obtaining one, and how did you do it?
