  1. Unfortunatly I am looking for alot of space for the Nas. I plan on using to hold VM images, Stream media, host databases so would need a decent performance from the nas itself. Also raid is key for an extra layer of security.
  2. Need some help. I am debating wheather to build a FreeNas server vs buying a prebuilt qnap. I could build it cheaper by using FreeNas but I am just wondering about reliability. I know with QNAP you will be paying (Alot!!) for the reliability. All suggestions/Info welcome The custom build so far is looking like this: Zotac H55ITX-C-E Motherboard Lian Li - Mini ITX PC Case Intel Core i5-650 3.20Ghz 4MB DDR3 LGA1156 Kingston ValueRAM ValueRam 2GB 1333MHz DDR3 Power Supply (Yet to be decided) 6x Western Digital 3TB Caviar Green SATAII 64MB
  3. Right there is going to be a few questions is this. I am looking to do a few buils a Virtualization server and a new Nas box. For the Virtualization server I think I am going to do something similar to this: http://rootwyrm.us.to/2010/08/meet-my-esxi-server-the-babydragon/ It looks to be a compact, quiet and cheap solution which is exactly what I want. Does anyone else have any recommendations other than this. Second, for the nas box I know that a mini-itx board will suit my need but it is impossible to find the right one. Requirments: Small Form Factor/Rack (if that is at all possible) 8 drive bays (Hot swap would be better but i can live with internal) 2gig ram (should be plenty for a nas) dual nic Super Quiet Am I being unrealistic? I did see a 6 bay case which looks pretty good: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cases/2010/07/20/lian-li-pc-q08-review/1 or should I just buy an 8 bay solution from QNAP/NetGear?
  4. Just wanted to drop in and thank everyone for thier replys. I thinking I might hold out on a laptop and maybe make a dedicated EsxI server for hosting vm's. I will just stick with my Dell Core 2 Duo for the mean time. But i did find a nice laptop that looked good. http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-b43j-b1b-core/4505-3121_7-34176397.html Seemed to have all the specs that I was looking for. Might be useful for someone else. Not sure if it is out in europe yet?
  5. Sorry Infiltrator. That is a bit on the big\heavy side. I saw one while I was in the US and they are Tanks. I am looking for something light but with power.
  6. Hi All, I am looking for some recommendations for a decent laptop. I am a software developer and do alot of work with VM's as well. I am looking for a laptop with 4+ gig ram i5 or i7 processor between 14 and 15 screen size Portable and small would be prefered but all recomendation would be great.
  7. If your still looking for idea's you could try another japanese puzzle Kakuro. Otherwise something like a Neural Network project.
  8. Thanks DigiNinja!!! I will have a look at that now. So if I understand correctly that when a request is set out Karma it say "Hey i'm here". Subsequently the client will try sending the encryption key. Seeing as karma doesn't know anything about the encryption the session is ended. A. Is it possible to extend Jasager to allow for it to keep a log of AP that have tried to connect with encryption. Then if there is a potential that we know the Encryption key that this file can be used to Authenticate the request. B. Is there a way of capturing the the encryption request and spoof a response?
  9. Hi All, I am currently doing some analysis on Captchas. Does anyone have a bot that would be able to decode captcha's? I need to test certain captcha's on security strength. Thanks, Stones
  10. Okay I think I am having the same issue. I am currently using the firmware version up on Digininja's website. When i turn on Karma I don't see any clients trying to connect even though I am having my desktop looking for wireless networks. However the funny thing is if I change from Black List I can see that Karma is won't allow the SSID's to connect. Any Ideas? Here is a portion of my log: Jan 1 00:23:05 kernel: KARMA: ssid ["FindMe"] not found in whitelist so rejecting Jan 1 00:23:05 kernel: KARMA: ssid ["Thermopylae"] not found in whitelist so rejecting Also when i try and set the SSID on the whitelist to allow the SSID using the command "iwpriv ath0 addkarmassid FindMe" I get teh following error: Interface doesn't accept private ioctl... addkarmassid (8C00): Invalid argument
  11. Maybe I am wrong but i don't think this is for grub2. If it is then I will try it out.
