  1. Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, sjbwiii but here's an update on team stats for people: Stats: Top Folders: Hak.5 Team Page
  2. Probably the easiest method for you would be iTunes, you can get iPod, SD and the HD versions through iTunes. Search for 'Hak5', or 'Revision3', and you should find it.
  3. Windows XP Desktop: Click to enlarge image... iPod:
  4. I think if you read it he's not hating on people for wanting to keep personal data personal - he's defending the people who want to keep their personal data personal.
  5. If you don't put each image code on a different line, you can have 2 bars per line, taking up less space.
  6. Yes pretty much, and you can set a percentage processor use for it to adhere to, but if you keep it at 100% it is designed to drop it's resource usage when you use the PC. (I can even play Call of Duty and CS:S with it running in the backgorund, because it adjusts depending on what you are doing.)
  7. I didn't even know that :o . I just presumed it would use both cores. As for running two units, thanks for the help, I will give it a shot when I get some time to play about. And as for the suggestion of using two users on Linux, would this be also possible on Windows, as I can see that the F@H directory is stored in the App Data folder in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Folding@home-x86\work, which would presumably be in a different user's folder if i was logged on as that user. Well i'm still running Windows at the moment, but i'm seriously considering migrating to Ubuntu 9.10 when it comes out for my actual working computer, so I might let you know at some point in the future. :D

  9. Running Samsung 1TB disk (Can't remember model) on Win7 with Ubuntu in VirtualBox, and Firefox, Winamp, iTunes etc open most of the time. I didn't notice too much performance degradation during the use of apps after TrueCrypting the drive, but noticed a significant change in the loading time of apps, ie. when the drive is loading most of the prog. into memory. I do have my games on a non-truecrypted drive, along with some other larger programs like Photoshop and Sony Vegas, but when Win7 is running from the encrypted drive, and you have all the programs already loaded into memory, I saw very very little performance difference, yet I do expect that this would be different for running games.
  10. I know you've resolved the issue now, but wasn't there a defrag program based on one of the linux distros that you could run as a LiveCD before Windows loaded? I can't remember the name of it now. I wonder if anyone else can remember what I mean.
  11. Really nice setup. Good stuff. :D I am curious as to how you run a process in each core. Is that using both cores for one unit, or running a seperate unit in each core, as I have a Core 2 Duo E4500 overclocked to 2.6GHz running 24/7 which (as far as I know) is only folding a single unit with both cores. Also, are you using the standard F@H client from the F@H site, or something else, like BOINC?
  12. I think it's something to do with the work involved folding the unit, since units can be of different lengths. I've had some which take a few hours, and some which take a few days depending presumably on the molecule actually being folded. PS3's tend to get given the smaller units, as they are designed to be able to fold a unit overnight, so usually it takes 5-9 hours on a PS3. The larger computer units take me a few days, although I don't leave my main system on all the time, I do however fold on a slower older system 24/7, which still takes a few days to complete a unit, because it's a bit slow.
  13. Well this isn't the 'official' team, just one I created, but there are no other Hak5 teams at the moment, so we could make this the 'new official team'. Stats so far: Green=Score Red=No of Units Folded @erik: you must have some serious power to have folded 61 units already, what system are you using?
  14. I like your wallpaper. Where can I find it? Thanks
  15. I like this, it's quite useful. I love how Google has it's own site listed as containing 2 scripting exploits. http://google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=google.com
  16. 2nd successfully folded unit for the new team!
  17. Well if it's okay with Matt + Darren, I created a new team: 172248 Kept the name Hak.5, since there isnt a team called that anymore. http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.p...;teamnum=172248 I'm starting to donate right away! Got 2 PCs and a PS3 running on this. Trying to convince friends to start donating too.
  18. I think if you subscribe via iTunes, there is a version specifically encoded for iPod/iPhone.
  19. Sorry, i did try google, it just didn't come up with any particular results that would work. Thanks for your help
  20. I know this is rather a noob question, but is there any way that I can increase the size of the bookmarks bar in Firefox to 2 rows rather than just one? (possibly using settings/addons etc) I'm running out of bookmark space, and I'm running on a 1280*1024 screen so I don't have all that much space to begin with. Thanks if you can help.
  21. I read something online a while ago that stated the cache encryption was hackable, but at the end of the extraction of the files, you are left with a 128kbps OGG file. As if the quality isn't already bad enough at that point, you then need to convert that file into .mp3 before an iPod will be able to play it, resulting in the loss of even more quality. Hardly worth it if you ask me.
  22. As if anyone trying to access a site categorised as "security.hacking" wouldn't know how to circumvent that. But don't come looking for answers here. The reason the school has blocked it is probably to stop you from coming here and asking how to unblock sites on the computers.
  23. I tested Sandboxie for basic browsing and stuff. Tried going to malware sites deliberately to test the software, but was shocked when I found out that the files downloaded weren't as seperate from the host OS as I thought. All the files were stored in plain file arrangement in "C:\Sandbox", rather then the encrypted virus-vault arrangement I had expected. This meant as soon as I accessed the malware site in the sandboxed browser, and clicked yes to the "setup.exe" it was trying to download, it appeared in "C:\Sandbox", and was immediately flagged by NOD32 on the host OS (WinXP). Seems to defeat the point of being completely seperate from the OS, since any code designed to lock up virus scanners, like an archive bomb would still have an effect on the host OS. Anyone know of any alternatives (other than a VM) to sandboxie?
  24. This is what I want to know. I'm still donating to the "MintIRC" team, and I want to switch back to helping Hak5, so let me know if another team is created. Maybe Darren or Matt could do it, so they would have control over it?
