All you really need is a netbook.

The great thing about SDM is that it shows you the commands as well. It's a great piece of software and works really well. However, I am just testing this router right now and it's going to work very well. We have a security system in our home and say when ever my mom logs onto the DVR to view the cameras, our network/internet is really really slow. I'm hoping this router will fix some of that. But when I fully implement this, it's going to be locked down alright. I guess I could of used Packet Tracer to set up my network first, which is what I might do in the matter of fact. I wish I new my login info for Cisco, I have a certain level of access, so I can access a ton of software from Cisco for free. But I don't remember what they are. haha. But again, thanks guys for your help! It totally pointed me in the right direction.

Well guys, I got it to work! So happy now! Well when I switch routers I gotta reboot the cable modem. But It works so wonderfully. Much better than my old Netgreat router. Internet seems a little snappy. Though this router is an overkill, I don't mind it much! I do go to school for computer networking so it is a great learning tool. Everything was working fine, but what happened was I set up the port that was connected to the modem as a LAN, I set it up as a WAN and set up PAT and it worked perfectly. I didn't do this via code, but I did use SDM to get it to work. I hope this makes sense because I am tired. lol But thank you guys so much for helping me! -ALSO, I have a Cisco Catalyst 2900 switch. But the fans are shot, so I gotta replace those before I can use the switch. Though it's not gigabit, it will still work fine.

Yeah same here, it's been 2 years since I touched a router like this. But I can't ping past the router.

Well the machine that is connected to the router is Windows XP, Which is basically my test box. Also, no I don't have any proxy configs set up within the browsers. I know theres I way to do it, I just don't remember how.

I have a Cisco 2811 Integrated Service Router and I been trying to use it to replace my Netgear SOHO Wireless Router with my new Cisco 2811. I haven't really done this since school, about 2 years ago, so I don't remember a lot. What I should do is pull out my notes and review them again. Anyways, So far I can ping google, my website, yahoo, etc. From the router. But I can not browse the web on a computer I have connected to it. FastEthernet0/0 is connected to the Modem and FastEthernet0/1 is connected to a computer. I set up FastEthernet0/0 for DHCP and it does grab the IP address from Comcast. Now, I set up FastEthernet0/1 DHCP also and the computer it is connected to picks a ip address, dns server, the gate, etc. But I can't browse the web. I haven't done this for a while so if someone could tell me what i'm doing wrong! I would really appreciate it. If you need anymore info, please ask me. Thanks guys, In the meantime i'll look at some guides, but I wanted to post a topic just for a fast solution, though I do have a couple months before I want to implement this into my network, but right now I am just testing it to see if it will work.

Hello Everyone! I watch a lot of Hak5 and I must say I love it and they always talk about the forums so i'm like what the heck? I'll check it out and I liked it. It's very simple. I'm just a geek! and I plan on going to college for Network Engineering or something along that line. I play the guitar and i'm a semi-professional photographer. I'm Geek! What more could I ask for? I love it!

With my own experiences on other forums, I just suggestion adding some sort of rule to have the images a certain size when you post in the forums and then have a link or have the image linked. This just makes loading that topic faster for people with slow connections, not that I have a slow connection or anything (35megs) But I know a lot of people who have slow connection and when they visit this, it takes forEVER! Also it would be easier and cleaner to look at them. It's just my opinion. :)

Man I don't know how many times I have done that, Must be hundreds. I even tried it on my new 6940 (which luckily I know the password) and their stupid weigh of resetting the password still didn't work. I thought I was doing it wrong but I been doing it right. I can't think of anymore ways besides getting a usb print server. Or either figuring out how to get into the printers code to change or remove the password.

A while ago I bought a HP Deskjet 6980 from a surplus, it was almost brand new. Even had brand new ink cartridges. I got it home hooked it up to my network and printed out the information sheet so I know what IP address to type in and I go to it and it asks me for a password. Now I also have a brand new 6940, which also has a password but I know what that one is so that's not a problem. I have no idea what the password is to the 6980, it just sits in the basement waiting to be used. I asked around to figure out what the password was but I got no where. I even looked around the web and talked to a few guys at HP and they told me to reset and I did everything they told me and then some! And it still has a password. I figured this would be my last hope that someone would know how how to hack these printers, cause I would really like to use it! Ask me anything you need to know. Thanks!
