  1. I just started college and my college is using 802.1x authentication on their wifi. I successfully connected my android cell phone to the network but whenever I move from one building to another my wifi crashes. Does 802.1x support roaming or is this a problem with my cell phone? Thanks!
  2. My school's it people really don't care and I do have teacher approval to do this so I'm not worried about getting in trouble. From playing around I figured out that from the Ethernet port in the wall, I can connect to the internet. My problem is converting the 2wire dls modem/router to run in router only mode. Thanks for your help!
  3. My school has really poor wifi coverage and I would like to set-up an old 2WIRE353 router I have sitting around in the theatre. Is is possible to do this? If so, how?
  4. Is it possible to have a host file under FF portable? I would like to get past a workplace content filtering system by plugging in the ip addresses for some blocked sites and I do have "standard" user (thanks group policy :( ) stats on the computers I will be using with FF portable. Thanks, Brendan
  5. At my school, the browser installed on all of our computers is IE and I am very strongly against the browser. I have been using Firefox portable on a usb stick but after losing it (and then refinding it) 3 or 4 times, I decided to copy Firefox protable onto the school's computer. These school computers are locked down very tightly and I am not able to: Coppy an EXE file Extract a folder Install a program Use FTP (everything but port 80 is locked down) ANY administrative task I have though about renaming the file to a .txt file, but haven't tried it yet (I'm on break) Anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Brendan Ps: I am NOT trying to break any school rules, I have absolutely no intention to get on any websites that the school doesn't want me on, I am only trying to use a better browser then IE.
  6. Ya, it sucks. But still, you guys run a show about hacking so it all comes full circle.

  9. Okay thanks! Now I feel like an idiot Where can I download the ubuntu live cd?
  10. I am pretty sure that the filter stopping me from going to goggle is an actual hardware filter located between the router and the Internet.
  11. Explorer: I am 99% sure My Computer: Yes, but the c drive doesn't show up
  12. Hey I was wondering if anybody can give me some help with a bet I have with a friend? Background: I have a bet with a friend that I can break through any restrictions he sets up to try to prevent me from going to www.google.com. I start with his windows xp machine (non-admin account) some type of filter that prevents me from going to google.com I'm all set up with "CCProxy" running on a remote machine and I can just hit "tools -> internet options -> connections -> lan settings", enter in my proxy settings and connect to the internet. Unfortuanly my friend somehow put a restrection on his computer so when ever I hit "internet options" I get an error message saying something to the effect of "this operation has been canceled due to an administrative restriction on this computer". Anybody know how to get around this? Also the same thing happens when I open command prompt.
