  1. Hey guys, girls and sugary twirls, I've recently moved to Finland with work, and have packed all my home stuff away in storage for a while, Im moving around alot, but want to keep my laptop and traffic as secure as possible whilst Im here. I obviously can't really set up a VPN or anything like that, as I've only got the one laptop, and Im not realllllllllly inclined to start paying for it (also, I don't really like the idea of 'oh yeah, its deffinitely secure here where you can't see it!'). I also asked a few friends here what they did/if I could set up something on there PC's, which got the response 'So...are you doing something illegal then?!' But yeah, any tips you can give me would be great, Im mainly doing websurfing so no problem if theres abit of a speed crush.
  2. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had any good black list collections for programs like peer guardian/peerblock and of course all the torrent/p2p programs. I use torrent programs to distribute alot of my music for free, and don't really want to be getting probed by whoever and whatever lurks at the deeper ends of the net! Just a thought, im sure there are a few good websites up, and I know alot of programs come with their own lists, but I thought it might be good to have a list of really good resources! (oh, and sorry if this has already been done!!)
  3. Hey Guys, Im thinking of learning a new webdev language either Ruby on Rails or Python +Django, and was wondering which Language you'd see as better? If you could give me a reason why that'd be good too (but if you want to just shout RUBY RUBY RUBY RUBY ahh aah ah ahh ahh!!! :D , thats fine either) I don't really have much experience in either python or ruby, so assume a fresh start. (although I have limited experience in Java and Delphi (which I know is python based)) Cheers again guys!
  4. Cheers very much guys, Just what I wanted! I've got to say this is the fist time i've had my own wireless connection so I was abit stuck with what to do with it, until the Hak 5'ers came to the rescue again! Thanks!
  5. Hey guys! Im living in a shared house and we wanted to set the wireless priority so the users with exams/essays to write get most priority of the wireless(or if not, by cable). I was wondering if there was anyway of setting this, and anyway without having to install it on all the computers as a few of the people are being abit uncoporative about it. Cheers Bim
  6. Hey Everybody, In terms of transportation, maybe we could try and organize some car shares or something if transports a problem, I unfortunatly am without car but I know a few people who want to go but can't for transport issues. Also, are we wanting a base level of Skill on the computer?? Also, what about desktop pc's?? Or are we just saying laptops??

    Netgrep

Ahh thanks thats what I wanted to know really, It just seemed weird as all the information was passing through my box anyway, so If I was just looking at it, it didn't seem that wrong. Anyway, what can I do to guard myself against people seeing what im doing??

    Netgrep

It could be said to be a tool for hunting animals to eat. Anyway, that doesn't answer my question atall!!
  9. I do enjoy the "How many people who write laws know anything about computers" It's the whole 'im the only person I know who uses linux' thing all over again. If you were making a law about something, wouldn't it be completely logical to ask a professor of computer sciences or someone who knows about computers about it? I mean, its not like they're just making it up for the sake of it. How about asking the person who puts the laws up on the internet, surely they have some idea?? The fact is, this is a hacking forum, and as legal as we try and make it and insist that it is, for the most part it isn't. Its just everyone trying to justify their own little corner of the great big hacking world

    Netgrep

At the same time, a gun is a tool, but its illegal for a anyone in England to use one unless properly certified. I was mainly wondering if it shows up to a network admin (bar if they were keylogging)?

    Netgrep

Hey there, Sorry if this has already been gone through but I wanted to ask more about Netgrep. Specifically, is the use of it visible to network admins?? also, how legal is it? I've been speaking to some guys in my university halls and we all found it abit disturbing, especially as I could find absolutely everyones passwords and accounts straight off. I was wondering what steps we should suggest to the admins to stop everyones info being so visible. Cheers,
  12. Does anyone know what the battery life is like on it? Ive been thinking of getting one, but I've heard bad things about the battery life!
  13. Hey! Im wanting to set up all my servery duties through a really small linux box, Im really only wanting the bare bones here, nothing fancy! I Rember seeing them ages ago, but all I can seem to find now are these slightly more expensive ones like: http://www.emacinc.com/linux2_sbc.htm Although I don't really mind paying it out, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for cheaper alternatives. (physical, real world space is at a premium, so the smaller the better((no desktop builds!!)). Thanks!
