  1. On the local news tonight , the raspberry Pi's are being shipped from Corby (Northants) today , this is suppose to be the first shipment?? and future shipments will also be from here.
  2. I have a Snapgear Trusonic N1110 , never actually powered it up , but it should be working anyone any Ideas for usage other than ripping the HD out and binning the rest?
  3. Some possibilities are : an oversized satnav , a radio , a picture frame/case mod or some cash on ebay...
  4. I've always wondered if you've ever tried any of the open source beer's like 'Free Beer' maybe you could homebrew some? If you ferment for too long does that count as overclocking?
  5. Ok , just looked at the manual for this thing , the version I saw only supported WEP (which is not too great these days) does your version only do this ? as for packet injection yeah thats a no-no as this device actually connects to an ethernet port similar to using a DD-WRT in client mode. The manual on the first page actually states 'connect your gaming console or ethernet PC to a FASTER wireless network' erm ,yeah... 802.11g???? however you may get some form of linux distro on there , or maybe for a VOIP phone in your shack? or to connect your raspberry PI for streaming?
  6. yeah it's in plain text labelled backup password , and if you get that far you'll see 3 text files like the one I posted above and a fourth one..
  7. don't you enjoy a puzzle Morfir? if I was to get into MI5 because they leave passwords in plain text files and hide text in plain sight I'd seriously start worrying about my countries' security.
  8. reminds me of the hak5 challenges , except this is so easy even I can do it...
  9. Well done. There are four interesting files to find as part of our challenge but only three are hiding something. This is the second file. If you can find all the files and explain in detail how you found them you might be the kind of person we are looking for. Visit our website and see if you meet any of our criteria. Please note: The task you have just completed does not reflect the full complexity of the technical challenges offered by roles in our Digital Intelligence Unit, but the ability to solve it is indicative of the investigative mind-set we are looking for. You might be asked to explain how you approached the tasking during the recruitment process.
  10. I think the idea is that you get the password and the zip file from the pcap etc..
  11. Look more at the base models , these are alot cheaper! especially the Amiga 500... over here I'd estimate them at £10 to £15 and the last time I bought an atari 520 I paid £8 and it just so happened I had some of those old 30 pin 1MB sticks which fitted nicely into this model also as described above the disks could be written in DOS - I can't remember what I used to write these disks from images but I remember I used 1.44MB floppies and blocked the hole up as amiga's and atari's use DSDD's....
  12. a few 68000 things I can think of - atari ST , Amiga series and Mac's of a certain age. all cheap - 'nix capable on a the amiga with a bit of expansion and the mac of course , I'd assume the atari too, however emulation is also possible of 68000 on x86....
  13. be interesting to see where the proposed site would be and if they manage to get 100Mbit ..
  14. I'm seeing this too with Chromium-browser and midori - unable to test FF because I uninstalled it a couple of hours ago (seems really sluggish)
  15. I don't own the above device , but replacing them looks like you just need a soldering iron and a couple of pig tails from ebay. The hardest part being how to remove the old antenna's and leave a roundish hole (may require a dremmel) SW4 and SW5 did look like antenna connectors too - maybe these van be utilised?
  16. A bit off topic , but would I be right in saying the Z2 has a USB port and SDCARD of some sort and does anyone know where to obtain such a device at a reasonable price in the UK?
  17. The only way I've had access to WPA without a client is because of default passwords (generated via the MAC address) - and those are few and far between (well not quite but..) or if the WPA key is written on the router a pair of binoculars will help!
  18. I assume you mean Synaptic rather than symantic , but it is not necessary to compile it or indeed use the deb file if you have a working network connection (internet) as it is available in the repositories and synaptic would work fine for this.I believe it may require a reboot and certainly requires a removal of the device and re-insert. as stated above I have the e160g (which is of course different to yours...) but all I did to install this was to install usb-modeswitch , and then used network manager to choose my country and what service provider , then hit connect , I didn't even know sakis3g existed!
  19. It does depend on what model your using , As stated above you need to install usb_modeswitch to get this running , the funny thing is that ubuntu 9.04 already had this installed and it ran from stock but not on later versions , I haven't tried this on anything other than Ubuntu (using network manager) and puppy linux(I think it was puppy dialer) on my E160g and both worked fine - although Ubuntu was the easiest to set up when usb_modeswitch is installed.BTW what model modem are you using and what does 'lsusb' show when it's plugged in?
  20. a DVD-Rom will help no end (even a USB one) ,unetbootin would've been my first guess ,another issue you will run into is that win 7 will install it's boot record and grub will need to be re-installed afterwards... according to http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/install-windows-7-from-usb-drive-requires-2-simple-steps/ , unetbootin is possible? is this a bios issue or is the usb drive too small ? is there a reason you wish to downgrade anyway? you haven't even mentioned what hardware your trying to install on is it even x86?
  21. As you have water cooling , did you allow for a CPU fan? i.e. is the bios detecting the cpu fan is at 0 RPM and not booting?
  22. I'm sure SSD's would be perfectly ok for submersing however your optical drives still have to be above the oil for obvious reasons also the fans are suppose to burn out fairly quickly due to the extra stress and the oil is suppose to damage the pcb after a good run. anyone tried this with an Xbox 360?
  23. I doubt this was a CE device as it sounds like PC hardware (and the fact you've managed to install XP) I have seen alot of these POS devices around and they tend to run Embedded 98,2K or XP. It seems OPOS may be of use to you...
  24. there are backup services available online and generally you wouldn't own the servers anyway. however if you think these are safe just because you don't own them is a risk you might take. Having said that cloud computing could mean using your laptop on a plane :)
