  1. Actually, I came up with a solution. Going to get a couple of smaller drives, RAID 1 them, and then RAID 10 the rest for the images. :-)
  2. All, I'm doing my first ESX server installation. Single HP server. 4x300gb drives set up in a RAID5 array by default. Here's my question: I know with ESXi it often comes shipped as a firmware install from some vendors because of the small footprint. This is good because the hypervisor stuff doesn't need to take up disk space (which can be used for the images). With the ESX configuration, I'm wondering how to approach the install with regards to the actual location of the ESX install on the disks. Should I create a separate small disk striped across all 5 for the ESX, leaving the rest for images? Or should I just install it to the current logical disk and have the images in a folder. IOW, I'm curious about the best practices regarding separating the ESX files from the images themselves. Not sure if I'm making sense here. :-) Thanks in advance for any input. DH
  3. All, Someone may have already posted this, but I stumbled across it today while looking for something else. http://www.pendrivelinux.com/boot-multiple...-multiboot-usb/ Hope this may be helpful David H.
  4. Anyone else run into the "Error: You need to load the kernel first" issue when working with grub2?
  5. Yeah, I just expected a bit more transmission range than a couple of feet without having to adjust. :-) DH
  6. As a follow-up, the TX power was set for 0dbm so I bumped it up to 8. I do have a better range now, but I had assumed that this was a gain setting over the normal output and would not be needed. Did anyone else out there have to adjust this? Also, although the antenna is wired to the Antenna 2 connector on the circuit board, I get better results when I set it for Antenna 1 in the gui.
  7. Hey all, Got my Pineapple in the mail yesterday. I plan to build my own soon but I've got a pen test project coming up in the next few days and this will be a good object lesson for the office workers at our client site. Great job on this project Darren! That being said, my first observation about the Fonera was the very weak signal. I'd say that if it gets beyond a couple of feet from my system it's no longer picked up. I played around a bit with the settings in OpenWRT installed to no avail. I'm going to try it again from home this evening where there's less a chance for wireless interference, but my feeling is that I'll have the same results. Any suggestions? It's quite possible that I've simply misconfigured it or done something stupid, but I haven't really done much of anything except for troubleshooting after the fact. Thanks David H.
