I have a spare Xseries 225 server chilling beside my desk. its dual core 2.8 with 2 gigs of ram and 5 or 6 scsi drives.. Debating what to do or create out o fit.. was going to do a file server but 36gig drives wont cut it.. and an exis server would need alot more ram.... any other ideas what to do with this beast?

Actually I bought it for her and it was 80$ cheaper without! So why not just use the key from her old laptop... :) Soo just need to get an image of xp on to a usb drive... or find a usb cdrom

Any good ones to make an iso of xp on a flash drive? I have to put xp on my aunts v10 dell that should be arriving soon... (shes scared of linux) lol

Personally mine would more or less be a file server for my media center.

Its fun to mess with them. I got one saying someone died blah blah I was like omg his mom will be so sad. thats horriable then they wanted my info and number so after a few emails, i was like i do not have a phone can you please send me one.. then they quit answering.

Frick now i want to build one to :P Now i just need a mobo with 6-8 sata spots in it.. Theres one product thats pretty cool called unraid its an os that runs on a usb stick and lets you mix any type of drive into the raid only restriction is the largest one is used for parity.. anyone know of a free alternative to that one? If i build one i want to be able to load it up with drives (5-8) 1tb drives.. . :D

I was debating doing the same thing for my media server.. So far it seems like it would be cheaper to just buy a decent mother board/process or that has 6 sata plugs and throw it all in a cheap case.. then just run freenas or openfiler

Xandros ! haha i knew it had a name, dsl is a good choice to, but xandros is pretty basic for the less computer savvy good call gEEEk Anyone ever used the Xandros Desktop? How is it? do you just install normal debian packages to add in apps? Does it support wine and windows programs? (formatting the gf's computer soon, might throw it on) Should make for less for me to fix :P

Clone the os off an eepc? might be able to clone the drive or flash memory onto his hd.. winhex could probably do it.

I have some Compex wp54ag boards that i have flashed with openwrt and put on x-wrt and coca-chilli i have coca chilli setup (hopefully correctly) but every time i go to start the sercice i get the following error coova-chilli[2509]: garden.c: 125: Invalid uamallowed domain or address: paypal.com! coova-chilli[2509]: garden.c: 125: Invalid uamallowed domain or address: www.paypalobjects.com! coova-chilli[2509]: garden.c: 125: Invalid uamallowed domain or address: paypalobjects.com! coova-chilli[2509]: garden.c: 125: Invalid uamallowed domain or address: paypal.. ... Nortan used to good i think its gone way done hill since they got baught out.. I used either AVG or AVAST Free (mainly avast) i find them both to work pretty well

I just finished by BCIS Degree and never had a prob finding jobs, been doing it for the past 5 years atleast.. i like it, lots of fun stuff to play with in the it field.. but its a personal call for you.. :)
