  1. I did order the 7mm SSD,it is lightening fast with it. I will keep the stock drive as a spare or pop it in if i ever sell it. I have been using it a few hours here and there and have yet to charge it (since my initial charge last Thursday) This little thing is awesome! :)
  2. Where exactly did you order it from? and how much did it come to?
  3. So this morning i ordered the x230 with a 9 cell battery (10-14 hours batter) and a 256gb ssd/8gb ram to add in once it arrives! I'm stoked to get this little baby. I read online that you can use the msata port with ssd as a cache drive.. is there any purpose to this if i'm using a ssd as the main drive? (dual boot off it maybe? extra storage?)
  4. I'm surprised you get shorted that much on battery life, but it kind of makes sense given apps to processing power. I am starting to lean a bit more towards the x230 with a 9 cell battery. Does anyone run bootcamp on a mac? How is the battery life running alternate OSs?
  5. how is the performance on the air? Would it be able to handle intensive graphics work in photoshop? The X220/x230 can get a good 10-14 hours of battery life with a 9 cell battery .. which is quite tempting. One of my buddies was just telling me about some of the Lenovo Win 8 hybrid laptops coming out in a few months... which also may be cool, or at least more juice in the same package. The only thing stopping me at the moment is that i would ideally like one of these options but with a higher res screen.
  6. I'm thinking of getting a new laptop and have narrowed it down to an X220, x230 or MBP They all come out to aprox the same price (give or take 75$). I'm after portable, powerfull and good battery life. ThinkPad X220 - $1,107.20 Intel Core i5-2540M Processor (3M Cache, 2.60GHz) Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) 12.5" Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, IPS, Mobile Broadband Ready, 2x2 Antenna Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor graphics with dynamic frequency 4 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM) 320GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm 9 Cell Li-Ion Battery ThinkPad 1x1 b/g/n X230 - $1,035.20 Intel Core i5-3360M Processor (3M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz) Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) 12.5" Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband Ready, 2x2 Antenna Intel HD 4000 Graphics in Intel Core i5-3360M Processor 4 GB PC3-12800 DDR3 (1 DIMM) UltraNav™ with TrackPoint® and buttonless multi-touchpad 500GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm No Optical Drive 9 Cell ThinkPad Battery X44++ ThinkPad 1x1 b/g/n - Main advantage is 3rd gen processor, but lacks the ips screen of the x220 13" Macbook pro - $1,155 2.5GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM — 2x2GB 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide (English) I own a pc and an Imac now, so i'm used to both OS/s. Either one will get 8gb of ram and a SSD upgrade after the fact.. so looking at the 3.. which would you go for? and why? any input would be appreciated.. as i cant seem to make up my mind :)

    Ram Disk / Ssd

I just installed a SSD.. amazing how much quicker things are! So far i have disabled hibernation, turned off the page file, and changed firefox to use the ram rather than the disk for caching. I have read about people creating "ram disks" with excess ram to use as a virtual caching drive for applications. Has anyone tried this? is it worth using 4-6 gb of ram in this fashion? The biggest load would probably be Photoshop or premier in terms of caching.. IF anyone has used one.. and you think its worth it what software do you recommend? Thanks.
  8. haha, I'm into photography, they are panoramas made up of multiple images :) And yes 214MP the psd file size was over a gig!
  9. Photoshop does load images into ram. I was editing a 217 mega pixel image and it ate up all 12 GB of ram and cup and still took about 10 min just to save it. Setup is i7 950 3.06ghz. ati radeon 5870 Previously 12gb ram Now 24 (16 usable)
  10. I think I'm stick with 16gb for now then. I had 12gb of ram and have successfully maxed it out a few times lately doing photo and Video editing. I just can't justify spending money on a replacement OS for now just to be able to use an addition 8gb of ram (but I'm sure I'll break down eventually) Thanks for all the replys
  11. I know I can upgrade to a higher version.. but since i already have a legit copy of home premium i don't really want to pay for another version. its more the point that i have 24GB and can't use all of it. Win7 can support upto 192GB ram.. so it has to be a software limitation within windows.. presumably hidden in a config file or the registry.. the real question is where!
  12. I installed 24GB of ram but win7 is only showing 16GB useable. Is there a work around to remove the 16GB Ram limit on Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit there is tons of work around posted for x86 but i can't seem to find anything on x64. Thanks guys.
  13. I know the basics but does anyone know of a good resource or have a good course on videoconferencing/telehealth.. I have to write a test on it next week and and trying to find some a more technical guide to go though.. something that goes over all the components (gatekeeper, end points, bridges, codecs ect) Let me know if anyone knows of any! Thanks guys!
  14. Today i noticed the post replys as a tree in which you have to click on each reply to read it.. how do i change this back to normal where you can read all the reply just by scrolling down on the page..
  15. I setup my fon probally 6 months ago and its has sat in a drawer since.. so a few forgotten and not easily found on the form questions. To connecto the the jasager interface what is the ip or address? and to use it threw my laptop would i just bridge my wifi/lan adapters and plug my lan port into the fons (lan or wan) I just plugged it back in and i can see it spoofig my ap but i cant get into the interface to do anything with it.. Thanks!
  16. I have been using a zi8 and had awesome results providing there is decent lighting
  17. I had hakintosh running for a while, was a bit of a pain to find the right keytexts but i got everything working excepted for my lan card,, wifi worked fine though. :)
  18. Awesome game, finished it once now going through it again to build my lvl up so i can do some on line battles
  19. Interesting concept, would be tricky put possible!
  20. ipod touch.. new (16 gig plus models) have mic's so u can make calls over wifi to ;)
  21. After you upload the video theres some little caption box thing on the top right of the video. I also believe oyu have to have a large number of hits before you can enable ads. In the spirit of youtube I taped a video cam to my leg when i went boarding a few days ago
  22. Image tracking? You could tell what ip it came form but how would one know which email it was associated with, if it was a one time thing yes, but spammers do massive bulk send outs
  23. Im staying up at a ski resort living with about 10 auzies, it was a big party here last week
