  1. Anyway, thanks for the link. Very helpful in that it suggests that it is likely not related to folder size at all. Otherwise I have had no success with possible fixes mentioned.
  2. Does seem similar, but no clear resolution. I will try some possible fixes presently. Am I alone among this readership with this problem? Would anyone care to share their primary music directory structure? If I didn't care about keeping PS generated playlists or dupe checking functional, I'd be happy to bust up the directory (I've yet to implement a blacklisting scheme as my mind fogs over when I look at the how-to's).
  3. FYI: Opened the save folder to try to do a little drive management. When I did, CPU usage topped out and stayed at 100% (this often happens, as I've said. I assume it has to do with the size of that folder, as well as the sheer number of files and subfolders.) FF memory usage at 335,000 K (dropped to 220,000 as I was writing); SP at 132,000 K. At the time: PS: ripped 173; sniffed 1132.
  4. The newMusik playlist is of course ideal for use as a blacklist (and by design, no doubt). As the saved music folder gets huge and must of necessity remain undivided for dupe checks, at some point, at what point, if ever, does it make sense, maybe to bust up the saved music folder and implement a large blacklist to cover that part of the saved music folder which has been thus removed from PS's review? In lieu of a growing blacklist, a pointer to other directories for PS to check for dupes would be very sweet, if tenable. We look forward to the combined logs, maybe also to a auto-chop or max file size setting there. More lazy, thank you.
  5. altimuh--> reread the thread to find mention of similar probs. Sounds like you are connecting wirelessly? Try low bandwidth mode, if so. I think you do not use a proxy server with IE. Check instructions.
  6. Which reminds me of a question: the "COMPOSER" - "SID" tag (station ID, I assume): Does that get re-written with each play or is it left alone, as in file (and tag) already exists?
  7. Well, yes, exactly, all the stations you have in the mix, from 1 to all. So, I guess there is no easy way to know if a playlist is a result of both single station ripping and/or quickmix ripping, unless one experimented, or as in my case, all of my first lists were quickmix generated...that is how I 'knew.'
  8. Something I've noticed about Pandora's playlists while ripping turbo, which I guess could be coincidental: If a quickmix station is played, there are no tunes played which are by the seed bands of the quickmix (themselves). This is in contrast to when single band seeded stations are played, because in that case there may be a few tunes by the band itself. And this is not the case when playing, not ripping. I say coincidental but I have quite a few playlists and I've yet to find an exception. Is this simply illogical, impossible, nonsensical or discernable?
  9. I added the '0' to make it 83mb per your first rec. What is the downside given that I don't reconfig SP every time I use FF? I can handle a burp and a missed tune every now and then if it saves me from developing some other ache. Will you adjust your default or let it stand?
  10. OK. Got your fix but have not applied. FYI: another instance moments ago: 3/11/2009 1:29:15 PM Content-Length is too long! (23091488). Not caching for sake of memory sanity.

  12. Another 1.008 XP FF Burped out of turbo. Got the last tune logged (Larry Willis) then started playing, not ripping, and froze. The played tune thus not logged.... Later, after a stall as that last (long) song played another song, non-sequentially, is gotten. Then more stall. Then turbo. It is a long Brad Mehldau tune not logged. ??? Sorry if this is jumbled. I gotta go.
  13. I realized that. I didn't want to have to do a thing first off. Lazy. OK. I thought it was ripped once it was a temp file, but then might still be discarded if a dupe, and thus ripped but not saved. I'll check next time. Recollection is that the player had moved on by the time I noticed and the log had not (stuck), but if it had burped out of turbo that would have had to have been a while, I guess. I'll get back.
  14. 15. OK, thanks much, Z. What say ye, guitar Paul?
  16. 1.008 - This ver works well for me (XP/FF/maxi); with Vista 32bit wireless (11mbps) the pandora maxi IE player still chokes but songs are still ripped. Minor comments: Nice fader thingy. For me personally I 'd like it to 'display song when saved' rather than 'ripped' (and not necessarily saved) as this is more pertinent to me. Request to have fader open someplace other than on top of SP menu bar as one might always want to check settings, etc., or make some changes there. Here's a 1.008 XP failure screen, FYI:
  17. So one needn't even change the file extensions from mp4 to aac for the apple products (generally) to play them? My searches for non-apple (for me this translates to non-proprietary and less pricey) players which handle mp4s has turned up zilch. This is a shocker, frankly. I'd appreciate someone straightening me out on this.
  18. 1.007 is working so well with XP that I didn't want to muck it up but I will in the interest of the mission and knowing I can go back and so on. Vista is another matter, 1.007 or. 8. My connection with it is wireless and though good, performs subpar for our purposes. Though i find no instance of SP in task manager processes, FF won't connect and gives a 'proxy refusing connection notice'; IE says I'm not online. So I run the mini and it mucks along until timing out. None of this is news from me, but is not complete enough of a report to be helpful, I think. I need to try a direct connection with Vista to get a clearer picture.
  19. I'm allergic in a serious way, as is common among the lactose imbibing, gluten full. Maybe if I quit drinking... I appreciate the tip, and will keep it in mind.
  20. RE: ver. 1007, et al / XP sp3 / FF / maxi player Working quite well for me usually. I've found that using explorer to root around the save folder gobbles CPU resources; it can be shut down and reopened with good results. Otherwise I find either PS or PS or the player can be shut down and reopened with no ill effects. Maybe next time: Here are some unrelated failure screens, FYI: Sorry, dynamic pages in the tags are not allowed: http://picasaweb.google.com
  21. I'm looking for a bulk mp4 to mp3 converter as my portable players do not play mp4s, and that is what results from the delightful work of PandoraSaver, which will encode on the fly but not in turbo mode. I've done some searching, not to much avail. ConvertMP4toMP3 does a nice if slow job, but does not appear to work across directories or be set up to handle volume. I guess it goes without saying that I'd be very happy with only the audio part of the file.
  22. So ....Vista/turbo/mini/ (maxi wouldn't go beyond "it's taking awhile" as I recall). Pandora Station (Robert Fripp) in player is stuck at first image ; no activity indicated, but log shows 26 songs ripped after awhile (PS opened same time)(finally got some movement to song #2 by spacemen 3, after opener by R. Fripp, as I was writing this). Have the log excerpted here but won't bother you with it. Don't beg.
