New DS. FF. DS default tune size is too small for some of the stuff I listen to (about 15 mins mp3). I must check on adjusting that. Firstly, righteous performance continues to amaze. (And foobar is a nice sidekick.) Otherwise.... When PS made this oopsie it then would not save a file until the error was acknowledged by the user (or at least I think that is what allowed it to move on, in this case some 15 hours later). It would be nice if it would move on without this intervention. As a less than satisfied winamp user looking for a good cross dir converter, I will happily try foobar. Looks much more promising than what I've stumbled upon.

A relatively minor but sometimes helpful addition to the above is that if a track has a greyed play arrow but a non-greyed "+", it may be added to a playlist and played from there. I wish someone would comment on the XP / Vista playability funk (most odd).

Many, several, I am looking for a better batch encoder (multiple directory) than we, I, have been able to find, as indicated by previous pleadings here. By all means, whip one up and post it here.

What success I have had with the tedium that can be Deezer results from keeping an eye on the play arrow: if it is greyed (which can be hard to read) then the file will not play. I search for an artist, review the results for playable tracks, click on an album for which there are playable tracks (it seems it is either all or none that are playable), then save that album as a favorite. It will then be listed on the left and can be accessed with a click. Tracks can then be played in sequence, no further input required: start at track one and play the album through. (I don't bother with playlists or the dumb 'smartplaylists' as they won't play anything or will play one tune, though they list total playing time.) Try "David Torn." " Prezens" works; "Lars and the Real Girl" does not (for me on my XP machine....Geezer is nothing if not tedious.... neither of these work on my Vista machine, though others do. Many tracks are not playable on the Vista unit.)

I've just found deezer.com, which even with all it's tedium can be a nice complement to Pandora, and noted previous refs to getting fiddler, et al, to work there. How about PS and PS, talent? Please post personal players that play the PS ripped mp4 files natively (ACC+). I saw the new Zunes play MP4 but not sure about ACC+. I don't know of any non-Apples which do, though I have little experience.

OK for me. BTW: when playlists were not being generated I was tuned to a station rather than in in quickmix mode. What's the 'Automatic Refund' button for; I haven't made a contribution yet?

Very nice, the latest. Blip: Playlists not being generated, except for newmusik. XP/FF/turbo. Peculiar. Viewing save folder still causing 100% cpu usage, but not at the moment with folders not displayed.

Oh, yes, I like it!! Nixed WMP and Zune stuff and I'm sorry to say Real Player also (thought sure I'd removed that one in its entirety). And Video Thumbnail Extractor for good measure. None, unless they were put there by PS and are stealthy (I see only mp4, png, m3u). The dir is devoted to PS, absolutely devoted. I run avast anti-virus, adaware free and have gone through a few malware purges. The machine is XPP sp3 and doesn't have similar probs I am aware of outside of the PS dir, and/or with PS and FF when they don't dance well together, which happens occasionally. How does one disable WMP shell options and remove Windows Search 4.0 (if it doesn't show up in add/remove programs)?

No, I did not. I don't care so much about spikes. That was not my concern. It is rather the spike becoming a flat-liner at the top of the graph - 100% CPU usage with no relief to be had, yet. Process monitor does not reveal a culprit, to me, perhaps to someone more knowledgeable, probably in the use of 'filters'. Explorer was adjusted to file name / size / date modified. Yeah, but of course I really just want my music folders set up like this; not my photo or text or whatever. Seems simple enough and somewhere I think there is a place where one is asked "Do you want all folders of this ilk set up like this?"

My PS save directory, the beast, consists soley of PS generated files. I did at the beginning try to configure the various folders to display useful info (artist, bitrate, genre, etc.) and that may be part of the problem; they are always set to display details rather than icons or thumbnails. I can't figure out now how to pare that back to the minimum for all the subfolders, as I cannot set each individually. Tools-->folder options-->view-->folder views-->apply to all?? (IMO There also should be an option there to apply to all subfolders, but there is not.) I don't think I have any Windows Search, but the way MS sneaks crap in under there means I could be mistaken. (One of the other culprits mentioned I do not have: C:\Users\YOUR_NAME_HERE\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Network Shortcuts\) Is there a way to turn these off for a folder and its subfolders?
