  1. Since this Dell is so the drivers for the audio drivers only went to win2000 so i installed a sound card and now it works fine. Thanks for the help. I didn't think the audio would cause a problem like this.
  2. I have a Dell optiplex gx400 with 640MB of ram and a nvidia geforce fx 5200 128MB video card. I installed the game and it gets to the beginning where the pod opens than the game freezes and i have to reboot. i bought it when it came out and the computer i ran it on before was slower and had less video memory but worked fine. What does anyone think? Is it my crappy Dell?

Read about it! you don't need to install it. bactrack runs from a cd.
  5. I could be wrong but it sounds like you need to add a new partition.

I use a netgear wag511 pcmcia card i got from ebay for $12 i also have an alfa 500mW that i also got from ebay for around $50. They both work right out of the box with backtrack but the netgear won't work with vmware.

  8. I am trying to create a shortcut that I will keep on a thumb drive while running Backtrack 3. What I want it to do is open a Shell-Konsole and run a command. I have created a shortcut that will open a shell that works from the thumb drive but I don’t know how to make it execute a command. So basically I want a shortcut on a thumb drive that I click and a shell opens and runs a command in one double click. An example would be, double click on shortcut, shell opens and runs airmon-ng stop ath0. Help would be appreciated.
  9. I did what Sparda wrote and created a file called managedmode.sh and it works. i would like to be able to just click on the file and have it run but the way it works now i have to cd to sda1 and type the file name and run it. is there a way to make it so i just click on it and it runs? it would be nice to be able to click on it and a konsole window pops up showing what its doing. like my name implies I'm a Linux noob and i thought this would be simple i don't want to program i just want to make it easier for me to use.
  10. I know how to use airmon but that won't help with managed mode. when i try to use wep or just connect to an ap it crashes on me the way shown above is the only way i got it to work. i know nothing about scripting Sparda is it really that simple? if so i will be doing a lot more scripting. Does it matter that i will be running it from a thumb drive?
  11. I'm not very good with linux but that doesn't really matter when there are distro's like backtrack. What i would like to do is make a script that will change my card from monitor to managed mode. This is how i do it manually: wlanconfig ath0 destroy ifconfig wifi0 down wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode managed ifconfig wifi0 up ifconfig ath0 up This works fine for me but it would be nice to be able to just click on a script and be done with it. Help would be Appreciated!
