  1. Yeh I was with iiNet but had to can my naked plan when I moved. :( Upgrading to Telstras new minimum plan @ 2GB for the same price... better than 400mb is all I can say. Yeah he pretty much got talked into it one day when Telstra called him, then called me asking if he got a good deal - Instead of doing it the other way around. /facepalm
  2. Think that's small? I just moved in with the old man for a bit and found he got suckered into a 2 year contract for 400MB 1500/256 for $40 a month... but he gets a $10 discount on the landline he never uses! Fucking Telstra. I went well over that within hours of getting there and that was just browsing websites.
  3. Thanks, will give this a go tonight.
  4. Hey guys, I've messed around with VMs quite a bit in the past but only from fresh installations. What I'm after is to virtualise my laptop as I'm getting rid of it after the weekend and don't really have the time to move all my settings for my apps to my Desktop(s). So I'd like to use it in a VM until I get around to buying a new laptop and just migrate everything over then. I've done the standard browse around the net for a guide and such but have yet to find something that suits my needs, is there a pretty basic approach to this? Cheers.
  5. That all the info you're giving? /skip
  6. :( Hate when this happens, happened a couple of times on my web host.
  7. Hah pretty funny. I think its even funnier that the idiot who made the tshirt design on cafepress didn't even write the transcript correctly http://www.cafepress.com/sg14
  8. Happens some times, some cables don't have clips on :(. I usually just wait til someone calls and says they cant get to network shares or get email... or say their phone doesn't work. I hope someones going to get paid to come in and tidy it up after all the renovations. I'm sure as hell not doing it ;)
  9. Yeh I did spend like $150 on a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse but remote desktop is just easier . Random pic at work I found lying about... Our patch panel is an extreme spaghetti board... and its only going to get work with renovations all over the office .
  10. Hehe Yeah thats why I bought the 2nd desk on the left but its currently being used for my CDJs. I don't really use the desktop a lot unless i'm playing games or watching a movie. I'm usually remoted into it most of the time from my lappy on my bed.
  11. Pretty much my basic network at home. Being lazy at work so couldnt be bothered labeling it. Netgear 8 port Gigabit switch My main Vista box with VM'd XP (for IPX LAN games) and Ubuntu. Modded XBOX MVIX External HDD/Media Player Changed the setup a bit, got a new desk on the left....
  12. Hey all... just wondering if anyone can nudge me in the right direction. Cutting right to the chase, I have the need to rename a whole wad of folders in the same directory. Basicly... From: BBB_BBB_-_CCCC_CCC_CCC-(AAAAAA)-Dddd-####-XX To: [AAAAAA][D] BBB BBB - CCCC CCC CCC (####) A, B & C - Both text and numerical characters, varies in length. Dddd - Just text but only interested in the first letter, varies in length. # - Always a number, 4 digits. X - Not needed, varies in length. _ - Converted to spaces. I'm currently starting to learn VBScript and know how to do a simple find and replace but not sure exactly how to go about rearrange variables.... I assume VBS is the easiest way to approach this. Any help is appreciated muchly. Cheers.
  13. Funnily enough I had written a nice post about BlueHost while I was at work last week but then the power went out and I had other things to keep me busy :P. I've been with bluehost for 4+ years now and they've been great. The current set "limit" is 300GB HDD space and 3Tb transfers but if you need more you just go into a support chat and ask it be altered. Takes like 10 mins out of your day. I haven't had one bad experience with their support Heres a snapshot of my CPanel... Disk Space Usage 18108.86/307200 MB Monthly Bandwidth Transfer 19025.79/3072000 MB Email Accounts 10/2500 Subdomains 18/999 Parked Domains 0/999 Addon Domains 14/999 Ftp Accounts 10/1000 SQL Databases 29/50 Mailing Lists 0/100 Really have no aim in swapping hosts in the near future unless I get a dedicated box. Man will that move be fun...
  14. Having no idea whats changed its a bit hard to delete something I don't know exists... Ive moved on... prob just re-image the thing next week. Still leaves me curious though.
  15. Yeah I get that :P. Just don't have the tools/time at work to deconstruct/sandbox them. Theres no doubt some residual file hiding in my system somewhere.
  16. So I login to my work laptop yesterday and everything is peachy. About 20 minutes later... I have no files on my desktop, start menu, quick launch and IE favorites. The folder structure is there... just no files. Now I've managed to recover the files from everywhere except my desktop (maybe already overwritten by the time I noticed it, which would have been 4-5 hours after it happened). I run Trend anti virus & firewall as its a work standard, with the Spybot agent tracking registry changes and such and nothing was flagged. This morning I login and a folder starts up from my startup (may have done this yesterday I might have just been to busy to notice) and it contains some suspicious files. ..\Startup\directory.src ..\Startup\makefile ..\Startup\cp\Directory.cpp ..\Startup\cp\directory.exe ..\Startup\cp\directory.obj ..\Startup\cp\directory.pdb ..\Startup\cp\makefile ..\Startup\cs\Directory.cs ..\Startup\cs\Directory.exe ..\Startup\cs\Directory.pdb ..\Startup\cs\makefile ..\Startup\vb\Directory.exe ..\Startup\vb\Directory.pdb ..\Startup\vb\Directory.vb ..\Startup\vb\makefile You can download said files here > http://www.fase.me/Startup.rar < Pass 'hak5'. Is anyone here (if you have time/nothing better to do :P ) able to go through these and see just what the hell it did to my system? Besides finally making me do more regular backups... Cheers.
  17. AD authentication in wireless seems to be pretty secure :). Add RSA on top of that if you're mega paranoid.
  18. Unless you copied the memory of the phone theres no way the recording would have been saved on the SIM card as they only store like 32KB of data. Unless that 'mega sim card' idea ever got off the ground to have more storage..
  19. Better to be safe than a sorry SOB whose got a huge internet bill from people stealing it :). I assume you're talking about general public home WiFi and not corporate networks... :P.
  20. WINNAR! Exactly what I'm after!
