  1. When the Fon isn't connected to my computer via ethernet, my internet works just fine (over wifi). However as soon as I connect the ethernet cable from my fon to my computer, I can no longer browse the internet. I did a "ping www.google.com -t" and here were the results Reply from 208.37.216.230: bytes=32 time 8ms TTL=56 <--when only connected to wifi Reply from 208.37.216.230: bytes=32 time 8ms TTL=56 Reply from 208.37.216.230: bytes=32 time 8ms TTL=56 Reply from 208.37.216.230: bytes=32 time 8ms TTL=56 Reply from 192.168.2.1: Destination net unreachable. <--the moment I plugged in the ethernet cable w/ the fon Reply from 192.168.2.1: Destination net unreachable. Reply from 192.168.2.1: Destination net unreachable. Reply from 192.168.2.1: Destination net unreachable. Any ideas what would cause this?
  2. Looks like that was the issue. Interesting. I booted up into ubuntu and it worked just fine. Thanks!
  3. Hey guys, Been a while since I got my fon working (just been collecting dust in the closet), however I decided to pull it out and re-flash the device and start over. However the tool I'm using Freifunk Ap51 EasyFlash is spitting out an error when I try to flash it. It repeats the following message "stderr:tftp repeat block XXX" Where XXX is a number that has been incrementing starting at 1 (currently at 480 and counting). Any ideas?
  4. Does anyone here encrypt their entire hard drive and play games on it at the same time? Mainly I was wondering, what sort of performance degradations would I get if I did so. Are tests such as HDTune accurate if the hard drive has been encrypted? I plan on running an I7 860 and a Caviar Black 1TB hard drive. I also plan on running multiple games at the same time, firefox with a million tabs open, a virtual machine, and perhaps a few other small things here or there. Perhaps I'm pushing it a little to hard, but I was just curious what other people had to say. :D
  5. There was an episode of Hak5 that showed a program that worked very similarly to Deep Freeze. I was wonder which software was this and on which episode. Thanks!
  6. Hey thanks. I did try wireshark and I noticed the fon constantly trying a dhcp request. This mostly being tested on a mac, I had difficulties setting up a dhcp server to assign the fon an ip address, so what I did was simply re-flash the device and its working just fine now. That being said, I have no idea if what I said made any sense. This is all a learning experience for me so I can only assume I know what I'm talking about!
  7. Currently I'm having a completely different issue then what the topic name is (is it even possible to change it?). I was playing around with OpenWrt, went to Network Configuration, changed the connection type to DHCP, then put in the ip address 192.168.0.250. Saved then applied changes. The only thing I changed on my computer (mac) was enabled share network between my Ethernet port and wireless. Now I cant seem to access OpenWrt or Jasager again (I've tried all sorts of 192.168.*.* variations). A friends laptop was able to connect to my Fon and get access to the internet through my computer, however I just cant seem to change any settings on the Fon. Any ideas? (and sorry I keep changing the post, I dont want to spam the forums with a bunch of new topics )
  8. Ahh, thanks guys! I managed to get through all the steps and connected to Jasager just fine! edit: and just to mention, I first tried setting up the fon with a virtual Windows XP running on my mac. I don't think it works so well! So I used my Vista main box and everything worked fine.
  9. Just got my fon router today and immediately started to follow the guide here, http://hak5.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9908 When I got to step 10, I noticed that the two files that I transferred over from step 8 weren't there. So I connected back to the fon, but I only transfered out.hex over and not the openwrt-ar531x-2.4-vmlinux-CAMICIA.lzma. Then I made it to step 11 and started to flash (I assume), however after waiting 30 or 40 mins I shut the program down. After turning off and on my Fon, I noticed I can no longer connect to it through wifi. Did I just brick the fon or am I missing something?
