  1. another interesting p2p streaming program is swarmplayer from p2p next: http://trial.p2p-next.org/ this can be used either to stream live video over p2p, or for existing .torrent files http://wuala.com can also be used to stream video over p2p, but cannot do live streams
  2. Here is a summary of how to get the open source version of Doom 2, Skulltag, set up in Ubuntu Linux- http://wiki.hak5.org/wiki/Install_Skulltag...in_Ubuntu_Linux it looks long but each command can be copy and pasted
  3. Yup, what are the features on that model? If it does IR then it is a good TV / stereo remote, if you can get any kind of wireless then maybe you can use it as a shell terminal for remote control of the computer, or though a web based interface. If it accepts any kind of memory cards, it can also make a good MP3 player ;)
  4. Darren was talking recently about some RF camera options, another possibility would be WiFi camera like D-Link DCS-920.
  5. If anyone wants an invite to boxee.tv pm me or post your email addy. Its a media player based on XBMC, good for watching Hak5 =)
  6. Darren and Paul were talking about the time it takes to do a couple frequent tasks, such as encode video and compress files. What software that runs on a Beowulf cluster could be applied?
  7. Well who cares about wasting someone else's bandwidth? ;D Privacy and security can be important though, and Skype is pretty widely used. If their API allows, then setting up a server should be possible. Then just program an interface or automated behavior :) VLC is really flexible, it would be nice to have a slicker interface to manage the server. If using a PC, Xbox or other compatible device, maybe a UPnP server like MediaTomb would be easier to use?
  8. yeah alot of frameworks have a crossplatform client, check out BOINC boinc.berkeley.edu for example
