  1. I crashed it in vmware, but I don't know how. I came back from doing something and there was a bsod. Then it rebooted.
  2. You can get free Ubuntu stickers with a SASE. But you probably already knew that. http://system76.com/article_info.php?articles_id=9
  3. Someone directed me to some fool who had their /etc/master.password floating around on the Internet. I'm using john the ripper with a quad core (4*2.4ghz), 2 gb of ram, and Ubuntu. How long will it take to crack the passwords? There were 13 hashes and I've got 2 so far. (one a three char and the other a 5 with numbers) I saw this http://lastbit.com/pswcalc.asp but it isn't good unless I know how many I can check per second.
  4. I thought they threw evil server onto the pavement from a parking deck. Anyway, merely touching the case stops the vibrating, so it may be hard to pinpoint.
  5. Does anyone know how to stop my computer from vibrating so much? Every once in a while it starts making a low humming noise, like a transformer. I tap the case a few times and it stops.
  6. I'm going to guess that the computer won't boot, but your data won't go anywhere. Also, knowing microsoft, they will probably try to get you to buy it.
  7. I don't know. If she wanted a computer with windows, why didn't she get one? The only place dell sells linux pcs is a little link that says "open source pcs". So how did she end up buying this anyway?
  8. FYI, they aren't blocking my internet at this time. What I did was set up a virtual machine running squid. The vm's network interface is set to bridged. This gave it it's own IP and MAC on the network. Would blocking MY MAC and IP also block the virtual machine's? Or would it treat it as another device on the network. I'm pretty sure that the VM doesn't need to go to the router to get to my computer.
  9. Well first they did port 80, but a simple proxy on a friends server took care of that. Then the blocked all traffic to/from my computer. That means I lost my DHCP IP. But the router should just treat my server as another computer, right?
  10. Well it is bridged, and I'm not sure why my internet was on the loopback interface, but if it is already spoofing it in a way, then it should work. BTW, it is wired.
  11. I used the defaults and it works fine. 1/4 cores, 1/2 gbs of ram, and 16gb of hd.
  12. I still think it would work. Remember that you have 2 MACs and 2 IPs comming to the same place. How can the router block both?
  13. Well he is only 14, and I'm 15.
  14. Because I want to do this.
  15. So here is what I did. I put a VM in VMware running Ubuntu Server 8.10. I put squid on it. It is using a bridged connection, and has it's own IP and MAC. So my question is, if my parents blocked my computer at the router, could I still get my internet from my VM? I checked wireshark, and it showed packets from the VM coming from eth0. Wireshark also shows packets on the loopback interface too. Those lo packets happen to be my internet.
  16. I'm guessing we all know people with really bad password habits. Here is a story of my brother. Here is the story. First, I got him to login to gmail while I was running a keylogger. Ivan: That produced his password. The password went along with the hint on windows. I told him I knew it, he said he changed it. He may of, but not for long, as I cracked the passwords on his computer and found out it was the same. It happens to work in facebook too. The thing is that he knows I know it, but dosen't to do anything about it. I logged into facebook with him next to me, and he tried to act supprised. Then he told me not to do anything with it. So how about some stories from the rest of you? ^_^
  17. The good news is that I successful downloaded it the right way, and got a few keys along the way. It is now running happily in vmware with 1 core and 1gb of ram.
  18. I tried it, and there were no peers. So never mind then.
  19. I want to get the windows 7 public beta. I've been trying the direct download link that lifehacker provided, but the download keeps cutting off. I googled "windows 7 public beta torrent", and came up with http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/12/27/w...mipan-download/ According to them, I am supposed to get this file, and open it with transmission. http://depositfiles.com/en/files/t60xwan8a Now for the important part. Is this legal? Microsoft is obviously giving this out, but is it illegal to get it from here?
  20. The download is so unreliable. I've been trying all night. Anyone know where I can find a 32bit torrent of this?

I would just use a camera and take a pic of the monitor.
  22. I keep starting and stoping it. I'm using DTA because firefox wouldn't resume, just stop. Remember you can still use these without the keys, just not as long. Running slmgr -rearm is supposed to extend it to 120 from 30 without a key.
  23. Yeah, the direct links work for me, but the downloads keep failing. If windows really wanted this to work, they would have released this as bittorent about 6 hours early, then offer direct download on a different server. (not even in the same datacenter)
  24. http://lifehacker.com/5127558/windows-7-be...on-product-keys They have direct download links here.
  25. I get a 404. I'd get a torrent, but I'd rather not download anthing illegally. Microsoft should have just used bittorent to distribute this.
