  1. Have you tried increasing the TX power of the WNIC on the Laptop? Just because there's a strong transmittance from the router doesn't mean the Laptop can transmit back. Also what's the resistance on the cabling between the router & antenna?
  2. Kinda like the popular VOIP service Skype? Which I believe is currently available as a iPhone application?
  3. Ask your ISP if they provide dynamically assigned IP address's or static ones.
  4. But the question is.. Are you going to be using the iTouch for that? Or do you just want to re-ensure your self that it's worth the ridiculous price?
  5. ... Open them and eat the chips inside!

  7. Maybe a copy of /var/log/messages Not sure if Jasager has it's own log file though.
  8. Hello, I'm considering using ZoneMinder for a multi/co-house surveillance system. Price and minor expandability are the key points here, Currently the way I'm planning on doing this would be to have ~2 IP cameras in house 2 connected to a Linksys WRT54GL running any Linux based third party firmware, Which then would be bridged with the ZoneMinder system in house 1. Optionally there would be more IP based cameras attached to a separate subnet/network in house 1 to a ZM system. I'd like to hear suggestions & comments regarding this setup, Currently I'll need some ideas for Linux compatible IP cameras and what not. Thanks.
  9. iptables? You could limit certain ports depending on the IP address, Also having different subnets per department would help.
  10. How about just tunnelling your traffic to a external server via SSH?
  11. Express editions contain the usual Microsoft friendly compiler but the IDE is stripped of some features.
  12. What you need to realise is there needs to be something operating the program, You can't just slap a program on a flash drive and expect it to magically run. If your trying to monitor your traffic on a machine you have permissions to use, then Wireshark is the way; Other then that it's not exactly easy. If you have/made a program designed for say Windows (In general) then you also need Windows to automatically run the program on the flash drive once connected with/without human interaction.
  13. Ok.. Not going to read the wall of text but.. Just modify the configuration of the SSH daemon on the service to it uses the selected port you want make sure nothing else is listening on that port on the server side. Then tunnel the selected port on the client side to the server, configure your application in this case firefox to use that port on the client/server side as a SOCKS tunnel.
  14. Well if you only intend on providing a site to inform users on your secure tunnel XHTML will do fine and doesn't rely on any server side interpreters.
  15. Just because you have 1365 TCP available doesn't mean there's a service listening on there. Even if there is, it doesn't mean a "hacker" can just gain access to the service/system.
  16. I'm not sure if you know what SQL is, If you do then you should have a small idea what MySQL is, It's mainly designed for larger databases I'd recommend SQLite though. If your creating a small XHTML static page for your tutorial then you will not need MySQL or any SQL database.
  17. Think of something you do everyday, Try thinking of a ELABORATE concept of (partially) automating the process. Don't stop regardless.
