  1. I finally got some progress while it was hooked up to my router. I had a spare Linksys router and named the SSID TestSSID. I used my Vista PC with wireless and connected to the TestSSID and after enabling save this network and connect automatically, I unplugged the Linksys router that was named TestSSID. I then logged into my Fon that had a IP of 192.168.1.6 that it got from my main DHCP server on my network. After that I turned on Karma, and added TestSSID to the whitelist and then my Vista PC thought it was the Linksys TestSSID and it connected to Jasager and I was able to surf the net using my Vista PC with the firewall on. Woo hoo, success at last.
  2. OK, sorry for being a post whore, but I'm going nuts trying almost every configuration and I'm not sure if it's me or what, but some things I need other people to try. So this whole time I put Static for Network. I put DHCP and it doesn't give you a choice to put DNS, BUT IT WORKS NOW with the firewall on!!! But this is connected to my router now. I will try to do ICS again. Can you try that Erichapkido? Try DHCP and post your results please. Thanks. Spare my insanity. :) EDIT: When the FON is connected to my router, I can connect to the fon with windows machines with firewall on and it can access the net. When I connect the fon to my XP machine trying to use ICS, I can't get it to work.
  3. Hmm weird, now my internet doesn't work through the FON. I'm going nuts messing with this thing. So I entered my internets DNS servers and I got the same results as Erichapkido. When my Vista firewall is on, I can't access the net. My iPhone I guess doesn't have a firewall and connects fine. I'm about to give up and just use Aircrack in Ubuntu to access their router instead to play with.
  4. I was wondering how do I remove/destroy the athx interface, so when I log into Jasager it says no interface and gives you a option to create one? Which area is that located in the webif interface? Thanks...
  5. So your ICS computer is running XP, and the test computer that wasn't connecting to the internet is running Vista?
  6. Also, if your home network is WPA2 or security protected, you don't have to Blacklist it right?
  7. Try setting the gateway and DNS on the FON to the IP of the adapter that is connected to the FON. That's what I had to do to get it to work. Look at my pictures above.
  8. I was scratching my head wondering why it wasn't picking up my network. Makes sense now. Thanks.
  9. Yes, I turned on Karma. It turns off if you reboot, or unplug the router. That's what I was going to ask next... Does Jasager Karma only work on wireless networks that have no security enabled? At home I use a WPA2 protected wireless, and I unplugged the Access Point to simulate it not there. So now I guess that is why I didn't see Karma mimic my secured WPA2 AP? Also, does Karma work only with Windows computers? As I've been not sure to test it with OSX, XP, or Linux.
  10. Did you also use a switch to keep the link active on your computer?
  11. I'm not sure if it's suppose to connect via wireless or ethernet after step 10. I think your suppose to run the flash utility and have it connect to it when you power on the FON. It will force flash it that way. Try running it on another windows machine. You should be able to run the flash utility. Getting that utility to run seems like the key to your problem. I flash mine hooked up to a switch.
  12. I'm not to clear on this either, but I think in order for "your neighbor" to be able to still surf the web. You need to setup ICS or something of the like to share the internet through your laptop which would be in the middle. People would then connect to the FON which is connected to your laptop, then access the net through that. That way you would be in the middle and be able to sniff the packets. The whitelist and blacklist also has me confused. But I know if I blacklist OpenWrt and try to connect to that SSID, it refuses the connection.
  13. NP, glad to help out. Step 11 seems to be a lifesaver for many problems. :) The first time I ran into a issue and couldn't connect back to my FON, I tried the whole night and stayed up till like 5am. :( I thought it was bricked and I was about to throw it out and give up. The next day I saw someone mention step 11 and boy was I happy to find out it fixed it. Now every time I see someone with a problem, I just say Step 11. lol :)
  14. I had some issues when following the other guide to setup ICS. After messing around with different settings, I finally got it to work this way- http://hak5.org/forums/index.php?s=&sh...st&p=106454
  15. This is how my ICS is setup on my MBP. Also when setting up ICS, on the built in ethernet port on my MBP, after turning on ICS on the wireless adapter that is connected to my wireless network, I left the settings as is without entering a gateway or any DNS servers. The IP was set to 192.168.0.1. So my settings look like this on the adapter that is hooked up to the FON. On the FON network settings, I set the IP to 192.168.0.250 and choose static. I also added a Gateway and DNS server of 192.168.0.1 which is the IP of the adapter that is connected to the FON's ethernet port. So far it looks as though everything is working. I can access the internet when connected to the OpenWrt SSID on the FON. I also choose this setup because if I go out to a public AP, I shouldn't have to change any settings. Now the question I have is, should I blacklist the OpenWrt SSID? And why and what does that do? Thanks.
  16. You can always try to go back to Step11 and re-flash.
  17. Well after entering DNS addresses, I'm able to connect to the FON and then to the internet via ICS on my Laptop. The FON is connected to my Ethernet port and my wireless is connected to my wireless router. I had to connect to the OpenWrt SSID with a test computer to connect to the FON. Is that correct? I would think you wouldn't need to join OpenWrt and it would automatically connect you to the FON and the FON would pretend it's your AP that you normally connect to. Also once connected to the FON with the test computer, I log into Jasager using the computer that is hooked up via ethernet to the FON and don't see any connected clients. Am I suppose to blacklist OpenWrt? Is my FON broken or not working correctly? It seems as though the logs aren't working now. EDIT: I rebooted the FON and now the log is working again. I'm still kinda lost though. Any thoughts?
  18. Well the reason I tried this method was because I tried ICS first and it didn't work out for me. But yes, connecting the fon to your laptop then your laptop via wifi to your network should work, but I can't get it going (ICS). But I will try it again and post results.
  19. I'm going to try it again later with some different settings, but I'm trying to get it to work standalone first and understand it more. When I figure something out, I will post it. Also, I didn't use a crossover cable from my laptops ethernet port to the fon. I think the switch is automatic.
  20. I'm not sure if you can load the backup from the webif if you don't login, but you can go to Step 11 in the Jasager install Wiki and start from there and you should be back up and running with a IP of 192.168.1.1.
  21. Yea, my iPhone is set to remember AP's and connect to them automatically. I just can't figure out how to get this thing working correctly. If I just power the fon on without it connected to anything and connect to the OpenWrt SSID and login to Jasager, turn on Karma, and not blacklist OpenWrt and wait. It should pick up clients in the list correct? Is there anything else I have to setup in the OpenWrt webif? I basically just turned on WPA2 encryption and set it to a IP of 192.168.1.250. Am I suppose to blacklist the OpenWrt SSID? Thanks digininja.
  22. You can try to hook up the fon and your computer via ethernet cable to a router that has DHCP. It should issue the fon a IP and then you can log in. If that doesn't work, you can go back to step 11 in the Jasager wiki install guide and re-flash the fon and follow the rest of the guide to get you back up and running. I had to do it twice after trying ICS also. :)
  23. Hi, You guys have a great podcast, and cool projects to mess with and learn. Keep up the good work. I got a Fon and followed the Jasager install wiki and installed it with no problem. (I copied the httpd.conf file to the etc directory at the end to password protect the login pages successfully also) I tried ICS on my MBP running XP but couldn't get it to work for some reason so instead I hooked it up to my current router at home. (I did run into some problems trying to get ICS going, but just flashed it from Step 11 and started over) So now, I have the Fon connected to my router with a Static IP of 192.168.1.250 and protected the SSID OpenWrt with WPA2. I turned on Karma and can connect to the Fon to access the internet. After verifying that I can connect to the internet, I blacklisted OpenWrt SSID and I guess that makes it so you can't connect to the OpenWrt SSID. When I connect to my network, I can log in to Jasager or webif at 192.168.1.250. So, when I power up a laptop or my iPhone or a wifi device, it should show up on the Jasager connected client list if Karma is on right? So far, I haven't gotten any clients with SSID's connected to the list. Is the way, I'm using it incorrect? I figured, when a device tries to look for the network SSID it is associated with it will hit my Fon and connect to it and then they will have access to the internet using the Fon and the network it is connected to. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
