  6. And those so named friends that do use Windows, we just take them out back and help them out of there misery by shooting them. Gerard
  7. Ya that is one of my problems to, so the just tell me to get out and buy my own (tech)presents, and gif them back to them for rapping it up in holiday season rapping paper and putting it under the tree And this works for me like a charm. Gerard
  8. I just went out to look for a mini USB hub with 6 in place of 4 outputs, and found one (No brand) locally (computer (car boot sale)) replaced my 2 mini 4ports USB hubs in my EeePc for this 6 ports mini USB hub, and this 6 ports mini hub now powers/connects the TouchScreen, Bluetooth, GPS, 2xinternally mounted `16GB Sd cards en now i stil have one usb port free on this 6ports mini USB hub. Befour i just 2x 4 ports mini usb hubs and got 3 usb ports left over and no more space to build anything more inside my EeePc 701. And beware 2x 4ports usb hubs mounted in side your EeePc will get you more battery power consumption than 1x 6 ports usb hub will do. Gerard
  9. My EeePc 701 4G special (because of all the mods i have put in and on it) runs under Ubuntu-ee and allso got a (no solderless) tochscreen (both online) works nice to, only i made use of this driver And afther downloading, getting it unrapt(tar.gz), cd to the location, and with the command "sudo sh setup.sh" it installed all that is needed to get the touch screen work in Ubuntu, Ubuntu-eee, Xandros, etc, etc.
  10. Just go get in to Slackware than, if you wana go 4 no pointing and clicking. Gerard
  11. And if your really want to go for a GNU/Linux distro you have to go with gNewSense Gerard
  12. Nope just no swap file or space on the solid state HD or on any of the SD cards. All the swapping is done on/with the 2Gig off mem. Gerard
  13. Just looked add the site and liked it. Gerard
  14. Hell build in some 16G and a 8G SD card and readers internally in my EeePc 701 4G and installed Ubuntu-eee over the standaard 4G solidstate and the 16G SD card (the "./" on the 4G solidstate and the "/home" (noted installed no swap space) on the 16G SD card) this works just fine and gives me way more (harddisk) space. On the internally buid 8G SD card i got BT3 and that boots and runs all so just fine. If you want a fast running (installed OS) on your SD card just do not go for the cheap one's. Gerard
  15. I own a EeePc 701 4G to, and i just got a 1024 M-amp battery pack from a online store, and must say its the a good buy. Even with all the hardware hacks/addons (touchSreen, internal 16Gig SD card, bluetooth, GPS) in my EeePc 701 i can use the EeePc with this bigger Battery pack for just over 4 hours. Gerard
  16. Where on a dark and cloudy day a white and nerdy person named "Darren" dropped from the sky.

  19. I will get a lot of love from our children and mate's/pall's/friend's , and that is really all i need, because i still believe that real love and friendship comes from the hart and not from the wallet. So like every holiday season i will have a bucket by my front door in the hallway and any that wants to put a sealed envelope (with something in it) can just put it there, and at the end of the holiday season all the content of the sealed envelopes will be send to a good course. Gerard
  20. Wel i stopt working and sold my computer shops and businesses some years back. Now i put all my time in my fam: and community work. My wifi and i are still foster parents of 5 less fortunate kids. (we are foster parents for just over 26 years now) With some of my mate's/pall's we keep tjhe local WiFi network community up and running. With some other of my mate's/pall's we do some projects in afrika like setting up satellite internet and WiFi internet connections in very small schools and started now 2 internet cafe's in the middle of the bush. We let some of the natives com over to the Netherlands and train them in keeping a Satellite/Wifi/Lan network up and running and in the use of Linux (Ubuntu) Os (we do not make use of any windows programmes in any of the projects). Next to the IT stuff we also sent agriculture (like tractors) over to africa. Well thats what my mate's/pall's and me do. And next to that ones a year i organize a WirelessPowerCamp on my backyard, and during those WirelessPowerCamp we promote the use of wireless data connections and security for any one thats has any interest in Wireless data connections. Well beside some other little tinks that helps me true the days is that it. Gerard
