  1. Hi Guys, I recently scored a 2nd hand dell poweredge 2650 server, I was planning on installing ESXi onto it but I am unable to get it to boot from cd. I have set the correct boot priority in the bios but it is still unable to boot from CD or one of my other SCSI hdds with an OS installed for that matter and I get a "no boot device available press f1 to reboot or f2 to enter setup". Any idea's on what it could be or how you reset the bios for it back to factory defaults (I don't see an option for it). The bios version is A20. Please don't tell me I have to pull the sucker apart and remove the battery. Server hardware n such is a little foreign to me. P.S: If you guys need any more info to help trouble shoot just explain what needs to be done and I will supply it. Replies maybe a touch slow seeing as I am between house's at the moment. Cheers. EDIT: If its worth anything the server came with 3 scsi hdd's x2 36gb and one 100 and something. Was hoping to have this running as a stand alone and none of that mirroring stuff. I have another 2650 that I have never had an issue with other than the mirroring which I have been meaning to disable for sometime now but have been busy with studies. I just checked the bios config on my other 2650 server that uses bios A18 and all the options are the exact same as the A20 yet my A18 will boot with no issue. If I was to take a stab in the dark my guess is the issue lies somewhere within the RAID utility but I have no idea how to tweak it. I check all the status lights and as far as I can tell it is not a hardware issue but Io will change the CD rom drive over in the morning to confirm this.
  2. lol fellow help desk worker in school IT department was handed a cisco WAP, plugs in network cable cant access gui. I watched him for about 15 minutes and asked if he wanted a hand. No I am fine I have a degree in comp science I can work this shit out. I thought well fuck ya and left him to it. Watched him for around an hour chuckling to myself until I thought I would be nice and got a console cable and dropped it on his desk saying this may help you. =P
  3. Yeap you can do it inside windows without third part aps but as some of the higher ups in here mentioned Windows gives out a lot more information than just your mac address. + 1 for the background concepts digip, vako and sparky so generously mentioned. In any case who want's to spoof a mac and hack with windows? 0_o
  4. use backtrack 4 ifconfig -a find your interface you want to change, eth0 eth1 wlan etc etc ifconfig eth0 down macchanger --mac 00:11:22:33:44:55 eth0 ifconfig eth0 up check your changed mac ifconfig eth0 BT4 disables networking on boot so you may not have to enable your interface if you know what the names are. to get IP address from dhcp. dhclient eth0 Then startx to enter gui for super happy fun ^_^
  5. all I have to say is, "Norton doesn't do shit" Bwahahahahahaah GOLD!
  6. Hey Guys, I didn't think I was getting a response to this seeing as it is for a school assignment (which is fair enough). Anyways I ended up finding some information on Radius vs Tacac's and a few other bits and piece's but the links and advice help fill in a few blanks I have. Thanks a bunch for the information, links as references and suggested hardware models. My assignment partner was suppose to do the hardware sourcing while I work on everything else (he is still yet to deliver and I have one week until hand in) so it was a big help and saved me a great deal of time. Thank you very VERY much for the taking time out of your day to help a fledgling student, it was perfectly timed.
  7. lmfao, all you do is run as Administrator. Thats just gold and what an oversight!
  8. I concur we should piss day light savings right off. I know its only an hour but I swear it just puts my daily routine and sleeping pattern out of whack. By the time I get use to it we go back to normal time. Pain in the ass!
  9. Ah awesome, thanks a bundle for that Psychosis. Actually after having a go with that I was wondering how you would add the window.location line to the above so when ever they click ok on the loop they get redirected back to the same site for extra annoyance.
  10. I tried using both code in that order and it still is unable to launch on exit in html document. Sorry to break your balls.
  11. I hate to be a noob and ask, but I am anyways. =D Whats the full code with the alert and the while function in one. I had a bit of a fiddle with it in notepad and am kind of blindly trying to work it out.
  12. Thanks a bunch for that reference my next question is how do you get the bugger to be on a infinite loop cycle?
  13. Hey Guys, I firstly state that when it comes to coding I know sweet stuff all and am a copy and paste monkey. Anyways I am setting up an annoying website for a prank. Its kind of like a rick roll but utilizing caramell dansen and I would like any suggestions and script if anyone cares to help me out that stops the page from being closed. I have seen some sites that loop java script alert messages when someone tries to close the browser tab. I did a search but have been having trouble finding the code. Any help or better suggestions would be much appreciated
  14. I guess you could just use that firefox plugin that allows you to download youtube clips. Then you will have to probably encode them for the Ipod.... I honestly have no clue, never had the need to. XD
  15. and those problems are usually always related to Wireless, graphics and occasional sound. Finally fixed all of my little driver issues on my system. Oddly enough I wanted to watch a movie on my win 7 install and the thing crashed like twice on boot and when it finally loaded I tried to access my DVD-ROM and the bloody thing idled out.... I gave up and just watched the frigging thing in Ubuntu, its nice to have a reliable backup OS sometimes. XD
  16. Ah yes that stupid proposed content fiilter, what a dead set waste of money and resources that piece of crap is. I laughed so hard when Anonymous DoSd the PM's website and the demands they made. Hak5 seems to have a larger aussie fan base than it previously did. We need an aussie hack5 meet up. But the problem is most of us a scattered throughout different states.
  17. I concur with that and I must say I liked Razor's design with the logo around the W. Simple but nice. I believe he owes you a thank you and some web space.
  18. One of my Laptops that the desktop has not yet been taken over by icons. Win7 on the same Laptop (ICONS I HAS THEMZ IN SPADEZ!)
  19. I must say I am a huge fan of Windows 7 (I kind of skipped Vista) for that reason, it does a pretty bloody good job of finding the right drivers the vast majority of the time. Not sure about the security aspect myself, guess one of the more educated people will have to enlighten us.
  20. I have been doing a little reading via google on RADIUS being implemented for WAP access and I am completely lost. Is WPA2-802.1x secure? How does it work? like is it WPA2 Key and login credentials to the radius server to connect? Also can you tie login credentials to the access point into the same that are used for users on Active Directory?
  21. I am pretty sure they would lock you out from the bios boot menu, so the using live booting media idea just went out the window. I am sure a few Australia groups are working on it, if not I am sure they would be interested. Maybe you should try 2600 Australia, Ausphreak or hackaday. Its a real shame my mate quit his old job working at the DET, he would come in handy for insider info.
  22. <.< >.> ROFLMFAO I see what you did there >:D Well played, I tip my hat to you.
  23. Yeah true, the power bill for running an old p3 alone would be more than enough to pay for a wireless device that utilizes client mode (2nd hand linksys WRT go for around $40 on ebay) and I have seen unmanaged 8 port 10/100mpbs TP-Link switches go for $25.00 brand spanking new.
  24. I here Security Tube has some good tutorials on this which are done by Viv. I watched 3 in the series and it all started to go over my head seeing as I am not a coder.
  25. I have been hearing many good things about pfsense, never knew it had a captive portal which is a nice feature. Its a shame my old p3 box kicked the bucket and I am short on time other wise I would set it all up again for shits n giggles. Thanks for the tip about the torrenting, I think I know where I went wrong now. XD
