Thanks for the help. I got all the way up to getting and using the appropriate tool, but now I'm at a loss of what to do to actually fix the drive.
I used the tool to ID the chip:
Device Name: ++[H:][G:]+USB Mass Storage Device(USB Device)(USB Device)
PnP Device ID: VID = 1307 PID = 0165
Serial Number: 080919011942B8
Revision: 0.00/0.00
Device Type: Standard USB device - USB2.0 High-Speed
Chip Vendor: USBest
Chip Part-Number: UT165
Product Vendor: (N/A)
Product Model: (N/A)
Tools on Web: http://bbs.mydigit.cn/read.php?tid=27876
Then I followed the link to http://bbs.mydigit.cn/read.php?tid=27876 and I think it tells me I need the tool UT165_1.65.10.0 to fix this drive. I got links to:

附件: 1.65.10.0.part2.rar (854 K) 下载次数:1217

Clicking those links takes me to a page where I have to register to download them, but I can't seem to register, because Google translation won't translate the registration page properly for me.
So I searched for the tool at http://209.85.171.104/translate_c?hl=en&am...picY6jzMYyJeuFg as you suggested, and it was there (called MP TOOL UT165 (UT163) 1.65.10.0).
I downloaded the tool and installed it. However, it installs some driver that makes both the CD and normal parts of the USB drive disappear from within Explorer and Disk Manager. ChipGenius changes to report the drive as:
Device Name: +FABULK
The MP Tool just shows a list of ports with no other information.
I tried uninstalling the driver and then my drives reappear, but I still can't see anything in the MP Tool. Reinstalling the driver just removes the 2 drives from Explorer and Disk Manager again, and changes the device name back to +FABULK in ChipGenius.
I feel I am so close to cracking this drive! Any ideas on what I am doing wrong, or how to actually make the MP Tool do what I need it to do?
