  1. Awesome episode!

Def. enjoy the Evil Server :)

Your "Download WMV" cuts out in the middle of the Go To Meeting segment. Missing the end.

    - I know, who downloads the .wmv

    <--- this guy

  2. The "Disk 2 Disk" style backing up freeware that I use is called SelfImage (Windows Based)

    Download link:

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Back-U...SelfImage.shtml

I really like it's basic UI and ability to do some compression if you are backing up to a .img file instead of another hard drive.

Use it at home and work. Easy for me to store .img files in a backup folder on my NAS.

Keep up the great work, and stay safe on the roads!

  3. Actually I recently reached out to the creator in the feature request subforum to inquire about becoming a contributor to his project. I put together some files and configs to update his project with the latest UBCD 5.0 RC1. Still haven't heard back, but we'll see I guess...

I too just recently posted. (daem0ninflux)

It's not a very active forum. Did you hear back from the developer?

not to hijack the forum. Enjoy the effort to correlate everyone's efforts!

I plan on getting grub to bootload to syslinux so I can have my Multipass that chains to Katana.

So hard to divide myself up between this and jasager :P

  4. Well, I haven't posted in the episode forums in awhile, but what made me come on for this episode was the great overall job on it.

Great content, excellent topics to discuss

The presentation from both David and Snubs was amusing, entertaining (David hyped up)

Snubs did a great job presenting herself and the details of the topic.

Looked very relaxed, enjoying yourself, and very clear w/ information!

Darren as always makes this a fun show and makes a howto/step-by-step procedure fun and not tedious to watch.

Keep up the great work! Miss having the hakhouse.com up 24/7!

Things I liked about the episode:

links to the WordPress theme creator

ZipIt segment ( LOVE DOOM! )

    Chromium OS segment

  5. Awesome show. Find it fitting to talk about this and a nice quick explanation of the need for salting hashes.

If you guys are into open source project, like me. I use http://www.keepassx.org

Samething just was ported over to linux prior to keepass being mutli platform.

It's funny you say that you embed your keepass.db or keepass portable in TrueCrypt. It's exactly what I'm doing.

Must easier to remember two long/complex passwords and have them on the go. No matter what machine you are on.

  6. This was a very good episode!

It actually drove me to review the shownotes and do a little research on all topics.

Darren, any good sites for the Alpha USB wireless card? Read the show notes for this part.

Matt, I personally do not have a use for VMs other than for school, I use them for homework in networking and sys admins.

I really liked your segment, even though I have no real use for it. Great information and I love the specific technical side to it. Not just an overview. Great work.

Shannon, that Konboot is awesome, nice software, can't wait to try it out at home.

Paul, is there a way to let ::insert person infront of cameras:: know which camera is in focus so they can look at the right one? either hand gestures, active camera indicator, iono.

    Just might help the transitions.

  7. Def. enjoyed the lounge type style of the show.

props on the Yuengling beer :D, it's brewed up in PA near me, love the stuff!!

I've got a fon+ and i agree, the fon 2.0 looks like something I wouldn't want to hak right away.

I wonder if you could put a multi-port usb adapter onto it and have many devices running on it??

    again, great show!

  8. ^bump!

    I believe I made a mistake.

I can get referrals for an addition 3GB, totally 5gb.

I have 2.8gb so If i can get 2 more referrals I can see if I go over the 3gb.

Thanks for those who have already!

  9. Reminded me of the good old days of controlling stuff from the serial port.

    USB = Universal Serial Bus

    You still are!!! :P

    Loved the show!

All of this hardware hacking has really revved up (to the third :P ? ) my technolust!

That lil board does have so much potential and I can't wait for how you implement it.

Matt, or anyone, I haven't the slightest clue on PBX's or VOIP setup, but I'm just curious. Do you still need a POTS line coming in? or does this use your internet somehow if you want external people to call you? Thanks in advance!

    btw, Network Monkey (WANT!)

    side note:

FF3 says technolust isn't spelled right or isnt a word... FF3 obviously hasnt watched a hak5 episode.

  10. I would prefer a 2 tiers monitor setup. this one will make ur neck hurt. or ur swivel chair will burn up!

Backup power to that will last u 5 minutes. Just enough time to shut everything down lol

Seriously though, it's nice and clean, organized and I would love to have it, just would change things around.

-and maybe toss in another monitor.

  11. I hear ya BitHunter.

I like the idea of cloud computing, but hate the fact your data is with 3rd party people.

Just want to have my own server that I can sync to.

But I guess that's called network shares with a nice web gui.

  12. Hey guys/gals,

I've been using DropBox for a lot of file storing for my college courses and I just found out about a referral program them have going.

    http://www.getdropbox.com

Free to sign up, you get 2gb to start and 250MB per referral. (up to 3gb) And the person who registers also gets 250MB.

I know it's not a whole lot, but they use a client side app for their cloud and its just nice to use.

    https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTgwMTMyOQ

click there if you want to sign up and help a fellow hakstalker out!

    Thanks guys,

    ZesteR

  13. Awesome show!!

I'm def. into Network Security and this show having nmap, OS obscurity, and beta of a network switch def. tickled my technolust!

    Keep up the good work.

  14. Very informative for me. I enjoyed the show so much I watched it twice.

Mainly because I didnt realize the letters flying by til Snubs pointed it out, then I had to get some of the first few letters!

Still can't get over Evil Server/Pineapple combo. awesome animations!

    Yahsager :P
