  1. the reason i posted this topic here is because maybe some one has encountered this problem before. when i say dead and recover im mean that the usb drive will not be read at all. if it was a simple corrupt sector i would just do a format and recover my files. but what is happening is when i plug it in it comes up as "removable disk" and does not display its drive label which was "Sony". when explored it tells me "please insert disk into drive X". all my engineering files are on it and there i no way to the best of my knowledge i can recover it. the usb drive is a sony 8GB micro vault legit its not a fake from china. my last chance is soldering the memory chip from the board and placing it into a new stick. i have no clue if that would work, please offer some help.
  2. well the Truecrypt drives are actual mounted virtual drive. The drive file is about 100 GB and again the drive mounts there is no doubt about that, but im having problems with the recovery programs recognizing the virtual drive. i did run testdisk again and i was able to find some HFS files but i wasnt able to do any thing with them.
  3. I keep my important files in Truecrypt drives for security. Just recently for some reason the MBR of the Trucrypt drive has either been corrupted or the header has been corrupted. Truecrypt will mount the drives but windows will not allow me to explorer it asking me if i want to "format the drive". i have tried to read the raw data with testdisk but that didn't work and paragon partition manager will not show the virtual drives. is there any way for me recovery my data from the drive?
