  1. Slightly related so I didn't bother to create a new topic: How hard is that max 12V limit? Would it be ok to power it from a car cig lighter socket? I know the 12V in a car can swing quite a bit, peaks of 14V are not uncommon, so I rather ask first. Maybe safer to go the 12V -> 5V USB -> Pineapple 5-12V input way?
  2. Indeed, my aging Core2 Duo laptop has had SSD and RAM upgrades (and a new battery), and is still plenty fast. Running a light linux distro on it helps a lot too. 6+ years and still plenty fast :)
  3. I'm finally up and running, just in time for the holiday :D Short write-up: https://plus.google.com/114691100536752400769/posts/2z3R3madgwk The only thing I'm left to do is create a nice infusion package for sshuttle. More on that later, I guess. The bottom line is that I'm using the Pineapple for the opposite of what it was created for, and I'm loving it.
  4. Done: https://wifipineapple.com/index.php?portal&bugs&action=view&id=179
  5. I've managed to get my n900 usable as modem, and I think the way to do it opens the door for a lot more modems/phones. See https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/32993-wifi-pineapple-mark-v-3g-managed-modems/?p=246721 Sebkinne, would you mind adding kmod-usb-acm to the firmware by default? I think it makes a lot of sense.
  6. haven't been following for a while due to lack of time, just tried 1.4.1 and my nokia n900. Comes up as CDC Ethernet Device, USB0. Gets no IP address. Set the mobile broadband config to what I think is right. Is this a work in progress - needs that connect script like in the managed modems episode? If this should work I'll start a new thread so as not to clutter this one.
  7. And shortly after posting I discovered https://hak5.org/episodes/hak5-1224 about sshuttle...
  8. Is there any info on what needs to be done to support additional devices? I'd like to use my Nokia n900 in 'pc suite mode' (0421:01c8) - this works fine as USB modem out of the box on all linux ditributions I used so far, so my feeling is it should be possible. I'm not an expert in this area but maybe with a few pointers I can figure it out?
  9. New here, I just got my Mark V, and discovered I understood the AutoSSH thing wrong. The purpose of buying the Wifi Pineapple was actually the opposite of its existence. I want to use it to create a private network wherever I am, and let the box connect to a public AP or mobile phone, while tunneling all traffic through an SSH (or VPN) tunnel to my home server, so the AP only sees one outgoing SSH. And so I discovered that this isn't provided out of the box and I couldn't find any topic on it. Given a few pointers I probably might come up with an infusion that adds this cool feature to the set. My first idea was a socks proxy as I sometimes use on a computer, but ideal would be to tunnel everything (DNS and all). So, pointers and comments welcome ;) Peter
